Chapter 383 How Long Before Completion?

Evan’s eyes flashed with sarcasm as Alex hurried out of the villa. ‘Didn’t I search for evidence? It’s

a shame it disappeared on the day of the incident!”

The next day, after an entire night of searching for evidence, Alex lay on his bed and received a call

from Paige. He intended to make a lie for the situation but accidentally answered the call.

“Pug! What’s the explanation? You disappeared all night! Can’t you give a simple explanation?”

Paige shouted.

Alex scratched his head and sat up, looking exhausted. “Please calm down and hear me out.”

Paige

anger eased upon hearing Alex’s weary voice. “Okay, go ahead.”

Alex took a deep breath “Paige, I owe you an apology. The factory isn’t mine.”

“What? But you told me it was yours!” Paige exclaimed.

Alex couldn’t hide the truth any longer. He had initially tried to locate the journalist, but the latter

had vanished with his family and changed his contact details. It seemed like an invisible force. was at

play, preventing him from finding any leads

“The factory belongs to Evan. He asked me to lease it to Caroline,” Alex confessed.

Paige scoffed. “So, you were planning to keep this from me forever if Evan hadn’t terminated the

lease?”

“Evan wouldn’t have taken back the lease if his mother wasn’t involved in the accident,” Alex

explained.

Paige said, “How is this related to Carol? She’s already blaming herself for what happened. What

more does Evan want?”

“I know it’s not related, but I searched for clues all night,” Alex replied.

“Did you find anything?” Paige asked.

Alex sighed. “No.”

“So, it’s settled then. Because you couldn’t find anything, it’s Caroline’s fault that Evan’s mother died,”

Paige concluded.

Alex reluctantly accepted the harsh reality. He knew Evan well enough to understand that if anyone

else were in Caroline’s shoes, he would have subjected them to severe torment even with the slightest

suspicion

Evan had shown mercy to Caroline by merely reclaiming what was rightfully his.

Paige said, “There’s nothing more to say, right? Enjoy your life with your best friend. Goodbye!”

Paige hung up before Alex could respond.

At TYC.

Kenny was on the phone as he hurried into the building and accidentally collided with someone

while turning a corner.

The woman’s folders were scattered on the ground, prompting Kenny to quickly end his call and

help pick them up. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay,” Naomi replied casually.

Kenny recognized her as the woman Caroline mentioned had been transferred to the HR department.

“Caroline told me you’ve been transferred. That’s great!”

Naomi nodded.

As they gathered the folders, Kenny asked, “I heard you’re still overseeing the old factory project?“.

Naomi confirmed, “Ms. Shenton didn’t reassign me, so I’m still monitoring the project’s quality and/

progress.”

Curious, Kenny asked, “How long until the project is completed?”

Naomi looked at him. “Is there a problem?”

Kenny sighed in frustration. “The current factory is terminating our lease abruptly. You know Caroline;

she won’t accept any factory that doesn’t meet her standards. Moreover, we still have a backlog of

orders to fulfill. Do you understand the urgency?”

Naomi looked concerned. “The factory’s lease is being terminated? If that happens, we risk losing

our clients‘ trust due to the delayed orders.”
