“I have no idea!” Alex was confused

Paige said, ‘Pick up the call and see if Carol’s okay.”

Alex nodded, accepted the call, and put it on speaker

“How can I help you, Caroline?” Alex asked.

Carol said, ‘Mr. Pierce, I would like you to explain to me about the termination of the factory’s

lease.”

Paige and Alex widened their eyes in surprise.

Paige looked at Alex in astonishment while Alex’s heart was racing. He said. “That can’t be right! I

have never expected this to happen!”

Caroline said, “Mr. Pierce, we previously agreed on the six–month lease. You have to keep your

promise!”

Alex’s expression turned serious. “I will find out more about the situation. Don’t panic. I’ll get back

to you tomorrow!”

Caroline said, “Sure!”

Paige glared at Alex. “Don’t you dare tell me that you’re unaware of this!”

Alex was drained. “I’m unaware of this, for real!”

“You leased the factory to Carol and told me that the factory is yours. Yet, you’re telling me that

you don’t know now?” Paige was livid.

Alex could not refrain from cursing inwardly. “Why am I involved in their quarrel, huh? Is Evan

trying to ruin my integrity?‘

Alex said comfortingly, “Don’t panic. I will handle this now, okay?”

Paige said, “It will be best if you can handle this as soon as possible. Or else, it’s over for us!”

Paige stepped out of the car and slammed the door, making a loud noise.

Alex was startled, and his heart raced. He started the car and called Evan.

Evan picked up and said, “You may hang up if you’re looking to talk about the factory.”

“Evan! Where are you now?” Alex asked.

“Villa Rosa, Evan answered nonchalantly.

Alex said, “Wait for me. I’ll be right over!”

Ten minutes later, Alex arrived at Villa Rosa and rushed inside to find Evan sitting in the living

room.

He was infuriated and sat on the sofa next to Evan.

“Evan, you’re putting me in a difficult position!”

Evan looked at Alex coldly. “Are you worried Paige will get into a quarrel or break up with you?”

“Both! Caroline and Paige are extremely close, so what you did put me in a very difficult position!”

said Alex.

Evan sneered. “Who’s going to bear the cost of my innocent mother’s tragic death?”

Alex said, “Why must you suspect Caroline, huh? Is it because she was with your mother at the

time? Or is it because the media mentioned a renowned female entrepreneur?”

Evan mocked, “Isn’t it all?”

Alex rummaged his hair in agitation. “Will you trust her, even if it’s just a bit? If it really was

Caroline, why would she allow herself to be mentioned so foolishly? Wouldn’t that put herself in

trouble?

“Also, Caroline took care of your mother for a long time, right? If she really wanted to cause harm

“How can I prove that it wasn’t her who published my mother’s incident?” asked Evan.

Alex stood up and declared, “How to prove it? Give me some time! I’ll prove it on Caroline’s behalf!”
