“Lia has been working as my assistant for the past two years, Mr Antonio. She is a great designer so you might have seen her at some event with her clients who sponsored her designs.” Nathan affirmed, covering up for her. Antonio turned his eyes back to her who managed to nodded professionally with a smile face.

“Ah! What a talented designer! I would like to personally invite this intelligent lady to my son’s business party tomorrow.” He smiled at her but she parted her lips before glancing at Nathan.

“Thank you so much for the invitation Mr Antonio. But I really apologise as I wouldn’t be able to attend this party because tomorrow my s….”

“Lia will attend this party. We can always postpone our tomorrow’s appointments,”

“But…”

Nathan turned towards her, “Mr Antonio personally invited you and I think we should go there.” Nathan interrupted her and gestured to her with his eyes to keep silent.

She nodded reluctantly. “Mr Antonio, I will surely come.”

“Perfetto! It will be a golden opportunity for you to meet with elite members in the party, Signora. Especially a few powerful royal packs and their Alphas will come there. So don’t miss the chance!”

“This is a great opportunity for you and I don’t want you to be confined to your home and the company, Lia. Try to socialise yourself more. You are a young woman with great talent.” Nathan sighed for the umpteenth time because she denied him going to the party.

“My son’s health is more important to me than my career, Nathan. My career or socialisation can wait.” Xylia stated rigidly. Nathan shared a look with Hansley who was munching on her favourite crackers. She blinked at her brother to be quiet.

“Lia, babe, calm down and listen to me. Taking reports tomorrow or the next day won’t change the results. You can still attend the party and I will fetch the reports for you.”

Xylia stopped her movement and looked at them. “Still I can’t go to that party. And You both know why. You see how Mr Antonio pointed out that he had seen me somewhere before. Do you know what it means?”

Xylia had been successfully avoiding social media and press for the last few years. Nathan successfully hid her identity from the outer world for years so no one from Lunar Guardian could get hold of her ever. And the Dusk Claw pack announcing her as their Luna and Nathan’s partner would blast her existence which she didn’t want.

Even though Nathan assured her to keep her out of public eyes but still she knew, a single minor mistake and Lockheed would be on her head. And now with Thunder’s disease she was even more afraid of his life.

“If you keep living like this, you can’t break off your fear, Lia. Forget about your f**ked-up past. Get out of your shell. It’s just a party!” Hansley nodded.

““Exactly, I am the Alpha here so you don’t need to think about anything. I will protect you like I always did!” Nathan said, giving her soft eyes.

Xylia blew out a breath and cupped her neck, looking at them. They were right, she couldn’t live her life inside the closed door for a lifetime. After pondering over it for a while, she nodded. “Alright! Let’s give it a shot then!”

Next morning, Hansley groomed Xylia into a s*xy yet gorgeous black off-shoulder gown and a messy bun and nude makeup. Xylia pulled on her heels and grabbed her purse.

“I Am not having a good feeling today, Hansley! My heart is still not at peace!”

“That’s because it’s the first time you’re going to attend a high-notch party with supernatural and elite people. Mr Antonio is one of the most powerful men in the city. Just pull on a confident face and mingle with other stars, Girl. You are such a hot piece. Show off your curves and go.” Hansley blew out a kiss to her. Xylia rolled her eyes at her chirpiness and walked out.

Nathan was already waiting for her by his car when she walked to him.

“I still can’t believe the moon goddess blessed me with the most gorgeous girl in the world. You are looking lavish, Lia.” Nathan held her hand and kissed her fingers as it was his favorite hobby.

She thanked him with a small smile but the whole night Xylia couldn’t sleep because a scratching thought enveloped her mind not because of the apprehension of going to a big party but because she knew something big was going to happen. Her powerful intuition has always come true.

“Welcome, Mr Elrod and Ms Cortez. I’m pleased you both came to my party. Meet my son and current Alpha, Kristiano Antonio.” Mr Antonio introduced them to his son and other few of his linked people as soon as they reached.

The luxurious banquet hall was filled with powerful and wealthy people. Xylia was nervous before but with the passage of time she got relaxed. Her eyes wandered around the handsome muscular men cladded in suits and tall women beside their sides with enchanting attires. Most of the people were werewolves but few of them were humans.

Nathan offered her a soft drink and stayed by her side all the time. “Everything is going good?” He asked, checking up on her to which she nodded smiling.

They were chatting and drinking when an announcement was made by Mr Antonio. “Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen. First of all I welcomed every beautiful soul for coming here today. This party is not organised just for the business succession but also to announce good news with you all.” Xylia sipped her drink, thinking he would give a boring speech now about passing his business to his son and all.

“First of all, Iam hereby announcing my Son Kristiano as the new CEO of the GA groups.” The place echoed through the cheering and clapping of the people. But Xylia’s heart thudded unexpectedly. She blinked a few times to decipher the feeling. Her sharp senses put her on high alert. She looked around at the invisible intense aura.

“And second, not only me but we all are privileged to have a special guest today with us. Whose mere presence is considered valuable as He is the most powerful and affluent man in the country. Please welcome here, the owner of the TLH corporation and our business partner, Mr Theodore Lockheed.”

The hall blasted with surprising gasps as the man never stepped out of his city for the last few years even if the President himself invited him but today He came for the mere business party. Few werewolves members craned their necks, submitting secretly, greeting their king while others were simply awestruck and clapped for his welcome with respect.

While people were still amazed, clapping for him, Xylia’s unblinking gaze was on him. The glass slipped out of Xylia’s hand and dropped on the floor silently among the clapping sounds of people as she jolted back. She was simply astonished to the core when his strong scent suddenly awoke her every sense.

There He stood with head high and the same mighty look which she would never forget even in her dreams. The black velvet tuxedo complimented his striking features. His trimmed beard and sharp jaw lines perfectly matched his sharp stormy silver eyes which were still hard and stiff among all. But still He was the most gorgeous man Xylia ever saw in her life.

Suddenly her ears heard a heavy sound and her body quivered.

“Lia, are you alright? You are shivering.” Nathan asked her with worried eyes and held her arm to inspect her. Xylia looked at him blankly and realised the heavy thud thud voice was her heartbeat which was beating too fast seeing the man of her dreams and nightmares come before her eyes.

Her husband, the Lycan king.
