On a Friday night, a party for celebrities was held. Aurelia arrived in the company of Leopold, who was playing the role of her personal bodyguard for the evening.

They had barely settled into their seats when Megan made her entrance.

The moment her eyes locked onto Aurelia, Megan beelined straight for her.

Megan harbored a serious suspicion that Aurelia was behind her child's kidnapping. The animosity between them ran deep, and she believed that her child posed the greatest threat to Kane, the ill-begotten offspring of Aurelia's schemes.

If the child were a boy, Megan was certain Aurelia would waste no ttrying to eliminate him.

Casting a glance at the man seated beside Aurelia, Megan quipped, "Isn't this your latest boy toy?" Aurelia curled her lips into a sardonic smile. "What are you on about, Megan? He's my bodyguard." Megan scoffed. "I must say, your bodyguard seems to enjoy quite the privileged position, sharing a table with you." A cold gleam flickered in Leopold's eyes. As Megan made to sit down, he stood abruptly and twisted her arm away. "I'm just as agile standing as I am sitting, and you, Ms. Alcott, may not take a seat without the lady's permission." Megan reeled from the blatant spite. "Aurelia, control your watchdog. I didn't calone, and my bodyguard was waiting at the door. Save a brawl. I don't want to be the laughingstock tonight." With a dismissive gesture, Aurelia said to Leopold, "Let Ms. Alcott sit." As he released her, Megan plunked down with a scowl. "You should be callingMrs. Stirling. Leopold and I aren't divorced yet, and it's never going to happen." Aurelia's mocking laugh filled the air. "Whether you stay married is for Mr. Stirling and his family to decide, not you." Megan clenched her jaw. "Don't think for a second you can replacein the Stirling household. Even if it kills me, you won't take my place. I'd rather see us both destroyed." A dangerous spark lit in Leopold's eyes. The fool was signing her death warrant.

In the depths of the Amazon, their explorers had located a porcupine carrying a superbug. Once they engineered the bacteriophage, it would be the end of her.

Aurelia remained impassive. "No need for threats. I'm not afraid of death. You are the one who fears it, or else you wouldn't have betrayed Leopold and sided with AK Group." Megan retorted, "I did not side with AK Group. Stop slandering me!" Aurelia took a leisurely sip of her cocktail. "Remember, I have evidence. It's not something you can just deny." Megan's face flushed with anger and frustration. Her main goal tonight was to probe for clues about her child, instead of engaging in a war of words with Aurelia.

Megan had never cout on top in those exchanges.

AK Group's hackers had failed to trace the IP address of the incriminating email. Their adversary was a formidable hacker, using an overseas server to cover their tracks.

"Aurelia, do you despise my child that much? Afraid they'll usurp your son's place as heir? It seems you can barely wait for them to die." Aurelia swirled the liquid in her glass. "I've always been clear about whom I owe debts of gratitude or vengeance. You're the one who made the mistake, not your child. I would never hate an innocent kid." Inside, she wondered if Megan would regret all her past actions if she knew her son was diagnosed with autism. Had she known, would she have taken better care of herself during her pregnancy? With a sarcastic clap, Megan sneered, "What a performance, Aurelia. You could give the saints a run for their money." Shrugging, Aurelia replied, "Think what you will. I have a clear conscience. Besides, you had a girl, no threat toat all. Why would I bother hating her?"
