Chapter 16 

Damon’s POV 

The first time I saw her since Dominic introduced her as his girlfriend from the business world, I couldn’t explain in words how surprised and, at the same time, seething with anger I was. 

How could she f*cking do this to me? I loved her wholeheartedly, and this is how she repays me? 

“Do you know about this?” 

As soon as Serena turned away from us, Mom immediately asked me. Of course, none of us were aware because she had been gone for five years: 

I couldn’t answer Mom’s question, so she gave me a disappointing look, as if I committed a grave offense against her. I slowly glanced at Dad, who remained silent and was 

closely watching Serena, who was now at a distance with Dominic by her side, his hand wrapped around her waist. 

Even though Dad remains silent, merely observing, I know that deep inside, he has. many plans and thoughts. It’s challenging to read what’s going on in his mind and understand what he wants to happen. His hands are behind his back throughout the entire event, and that means, he’s angry. 

Throughout that entire night, I was itching to pull her away from that man. I wanted to punch him and erase him from this world. But, of course, if I acted against may parent’s wishes, my reputation would be tarnished, and I would be in deep trouble.

“Does she think she’s on our level? She’s mistaken.” 

My three siblings were arguing at the table. Our parents didn’t say a word, but I could. clearly see the dismay and annoyance in their eyes. My attention was on the other table, where Serena and Dominic were shamelessly flirting. 

“So the kids are around five years old now, am I correct? Because she disappeared for five years like a bubble, right? And then she comes back, boldly facing the public as Dominic Ryder’s girlfriend? Shame on her.” 

My attention suddenly shifted to Mom as she spoke. She still had the sophistication, poise, and elegant accent on her face, but the tight grip of her hands revealed that she was almost exploding with anger.

“She’s hiding the children,” Dad added, “But don’t worry. What she did, exposing and introducing herself to the public as Dominic’s girlfriend, is a foolish move. Now, we have a lead of where she’s hiding the kids,” Dad added. 

I swallowed hard and didn’t immediately respond to their conversation. I tried to furrow my forehead and raise my eyebrows, but deep inside, it felt like a voice was whispering to me that this wasn’t right, and I needed to stop them. However, I couldn’t say anything and just remained silent. 

I saw Serena stand up, so I took the opportunity to find a way to follow her. I observed quietly from behind, and I couldn’t help but notice the curves of her back. 

A lot has changed in her. She grew taller, her b*dy became more defined, and her skin. complexion improved. I couldn’t help but wonder what she and Dominic did during those five years. 

That beast is good at hiding. There were rumors before that he had a girlfriend, but I never thought it would be Serena, the one we’ve been searching for for five years. 

When Serena entered the bathroom stall, I waited outside. I couldn’t help but grin

The event ended late at night, and I felt upset. Upon arriving at the mansion, I was about to rest when Dad suddenly stopped me. 

“Stay there.”

Before I could react, I felt Dad’s fist connect with my face. The housemaids stopped, but none of them said or did anything. Even my three siblings and Mom had no reaction. It

should have seen this coming, but I was still surprised. 

“Do everything in your power to get your children back from her. Remember, they are the future heirs of our empire. I will never allow my blood to end up with worthless. people!” 

“And remember,” he threatened, “If you try to win her back, I will exile you from his family.” 

And he walked away. My three siblings and Mom also turned their backs on me, going their separate ways in the house. I was left alone in the living room, staring into space for a moment before I composed myself. Soon, I saw ‘her‘ coming down the stairs, and I avoided eye contact.

I ignored her and locked myself in my office, investigating Dominic’s whereabouts. 

I was frustrated because I couldn’t find exactly where he lived amid his numerous properties. Out of sheer annoyance, I threw my wine glass, and its shards scattered all over the floor. 

“I won’t stop, Dominic, until I get Serena from you. Mark my words.” 

In the following days, I did everything to cross paths with Serena. I lied to her secretary and to her, telling her that my sibling is interested in becoming an investor in her company. She didn’t know that, in truth, I was just using my sibling’s name to establish a connection.. 

However, her heart remained hardened, especially when she poured out all her pent–up emotions, which she claimed she felt during the time she lived under our roof. 

“I despise your family.” 

And I was left staring out of nowhere again, as if I had no recourse. I clenched my fists, but I didn’t lose hope. I still followed her. This time, I tried bringing a woman along to see what her reaction would be. 

Her eyebrows furrowed when our eyes met inside the restaurant. I grinned when she looked at the woman accompanying me. As a matter of fact, I just bought this girl to keep me company. 

I widened my grin when I noticed that she kept glancing in our direction, especially at the woman with me. The expressions on her face–bewilderment, anger, irritation, and annoyance were evident as she observed us from afar. I seized this opportunity to tease her even more. I touched and caressed the woman with me, whose name I didn’t know, right in front of her.

In surprise, she spewed the drink she was having, and she hastily went to the restroom. I quickly followed her, attempting to force her to talk, but this time, it was clear that she was on the verge of exploding, and I could see the tears welling up in her eyes, which she was desperately holding back. 

So, I let her go, and as for the woman with me? I just left her because she was useless to 

me now. 

F*ck. 

I’m losing interest in everything I do! 

I threw everything inside my office when I got home. I heard her knocking on my office door, wanting to talk and calm me down, but I don’t care about her! She can go and mess up her own life! 

“Leave me alone!” 

After a few hours of venting, I tried to calm myself down. I closed my eyes tightly and massaged my head. I grabbed my cellphone, expecting some good news from the investigators about my children, but until now, they still have no idea where she’s hiding my child. 

I swear, the last laugh will be mine, Dominic! 

I threw my cellphone, and it shattered against the wall, completely broken. I’ve been staying inside my home office for almost a few days now. I’ve been working here day and night until I decided to go out and find Charlotte. I’ll try to talk to her properly about Serena’s company. After all, both of them are knowledgeable about the cosmetic linc. 

I know it’s unlikely, but I need to find a way to get through with Serena. 

I tried calling her using my new cellphone, and since I knew her number, I dialed it. However, I was puzzled when she didn’t answer the call. I quickly checked the GPS map tracking app on my phone, and my brows furrowed when I saw that she was in at familiar place in Silver Town. 

“F*ck…” 

When I realized where she was, I quickly ran to my car and sped towards Serena’s company. What the hell is she doing there?! What is she planning?! 

In no time, I reached the parking lot, and not far away, I saw her, assaulting Serena! I cursed loudly, ready to approach them when I remembered that my siblings, especially my parents, don’t know about this. 

I froze for a moment, unsure of what to do, but then I recalled my security team was nearby. I immediately called them and instructed them to apprehend Charlotte. 

It didn’t take long for them to arrive and pull Charlotte away. I breathed a sigh of relief. I turned my gaze back to Serena to check on her, but it was too late. 

I saw her embracing Dominic, and I had no idea how and when he got here. 

And I heard what she said to him. 

“Please, let’s not fight anymore…. I’m sorry for everything, I love you so much, Dominic.” 

I couldn’t explain what I felt, but I knew I was struggling to breathe. I smirked as I remembered what Serena told me. 

“Maybe I’m still a coward when it comes to my family.”
