Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Ashton’s POV.

 ! I couldn’t get Josie’s

words out of my head since yesterday. It was  scathing and bruising to hear her admit she was into another man.

That was what gave her the boldness to hit me and even walk away.

, since she said that all I felt was the urge to punch a  wall. And yes, I did punch something but it was my car.

The instant I hit my balled fist over the hard metal, searing pains embraced me but it wasn’t

as painful as what Josie had said. Her words cut through my heart like a knife.

When we left the Night Walker pack, I dammed all other  work and went to the pack house where I caged myself in my wine room, drinking and boozing.

Dammit, I wanted to get drunk but my wolf abilities  made it impossible to drown myself in

booze.

In between, thoughts about her harasses me and my wolf was throwing a  fit!

My wolf wanted her back and was willing to go to any level just to have Josie.

We would be mate–less forever if Josie refused to take me back and that’s what drives crazy.

my wolf more

No matter the number of women I choose to mate or marry out of my power as alpha, I’d never have a child.

Never in a damn million years did I think I’d be cursed but the day I was coronated changed everything.

Though very few people in the pack are aware of that the walls have ears, and soon words about my cursed nature would spread. And I’d be known as a cursed alpha.

‘You must bring her back. My wolf insisted, pacing front and back in my head..

Dammit! I wanted to block him off but he was so angry that he could break down the walls I always created in my mind.

‘What do I do? She already has another man, you heard her right?‘ I said gently, wanting to make him see the reason that this wouldn’t work.

He only scoffed and said the next words that left my mouth hanging.

“You only have today two days to get her back by your side or else, you’ll never see me. His words sent cold throughout my body.

Oh,  If he mistakenly leaves then I’d be also known as the wolfless alpha. I couldn’t let that happen.

I quickly retorted to his words.

“Fine, I’d do this. I’d get her back by my side in wad

I didn’t know how that was going to be possible but I couldn’t

sit down wishing I’d make it possible. Instead, I grabbed my phone and called the only person who’d help sort this out…

The moment his brooding voice took over, I spilled my intentions.

This would be crazy but I’ve to go this extra miles to avoid my wolf’s wrath.

It was in the middle of the night and a bit frosty but I didn’t mind the knee–melting weather as I

went into ft.

My headlights shone ahead, giving me the chance to see what was before me.

There I saw Mason in all his hulky nature leaning over a tree in the cold.

He had a cap over his head with his hands stuffed in his jacket pocket.

On seeing my brake lights, he bristled from the tree and stood up, facing me.

If I had been a low ranking wolf, I definitely would fear Mason because of his bear size but I wouldn’t.

I was an alpha with much more power than him

He greeted me when I stepped forward, glaring at me.

“Got anything

meaningful?” I croaked, wetting my lips lightly.

He nodded.

“Yes, alpha.”

Then I watched him bring out a pile of paper from his pockets, and handing it to me.

Chapter 18

I collected them and read them through.

I had asked Mason to run a thorough background

check on Josie to know if I could find someone I could lure her with.

Well, nothing much about her private life was revealed.

Hmmm, I bet she’s

pretty good at keeping secrets, I muttered to myself.

The results of Mason’s hunting were more on her work.

From what I was seeing, Josie’s works are impressive but her reviews are nothing to write home

about.

As if sensing my cloud of confusion, Mason goes on to explain.

“Someone was sabotaging

her work at the company. Wanting to degrade before the CEO’s eyes.”

“Why?” I asked not getting it.

Mason huffed lightly. Then. “What else? She was popular and, the best at what she did. Gained more favors from the CEO so that made people jealous of her. However, one of them took it upon herself to damage her reputation by swapping their reviews with Josie’s.”

I felt hot all over me but it wasn’t because of weather but rather the fact that someone wanted to ruin my mate’s image.

I couldn’t stand anyone wanting to mess with her like they did years pack.

Josie’s mine and I’ll  protect her.

An idea came to my mind and I folded the paper to stuff it in my bag.

However, before I could finish folding the paper, one fell down.

I crouched and snatched it up and there I saw Josie’s mortgage.

Sharply, I dragged my eyes back at Mason, shocked but he only shrugged his shoulders.

“She owes about five hundred thousand dollars?” I gasped, muttering more to myself than Mason.

That was when I knew I’d lure her back.

Thoughts about that made my wolf wag its tail. I hoped to the moon she’d agree to this offer I was

about to make

money which I handed Mason before taking off.

Even as I lay on bed that night, I couldn’t sleep not with the anticipation bubbling inside my chest.

I got up earlier than I should have today and went hunting in the woods. Not like I wanted to but I needed to relieve the tension roping my insides..

After hunting for two hours stretch, I returned to the pack house and dressed up for the day.

Sliding inside my black Escalade, I checked the time and found out it was just nine in the morning.

“Perfect,” I said under my breath and brought out my phone.

Thankfully the papers Mason had given me that night contained Josie’s number and I called it.

I waited with bated breath for her to answer but she didn’t.

I frowned, calling about five times but none was responded.

In anger, I smashed my fist over the steering wheel and it honked.

I could feel the pack members watching my car as I cursed.

I tried again and then her melodious voice came in, washing over me.

“Hello?”

, I cursed feeling the swirls of lust at the sound of her voice. I want to hear her sweet voice sing my name as I drive into her…..

‘Me too‘ my wolf croaked, getting horny.

It took seconds to recover

from my daze and said.

“Ms. Rose…”

She was quiet for a second before she hummed and then I told her I wanted to discuss something with her.

When I cut the call, I sent her the location where we should meet.

Chapter 18

At the town square

At that, I drove out, heading to the location.

The minutes bled painfully away as I waited for Josie.

I was almost giving up when I saw her in my rearview mirror.

She wore a jacket and leggings. Her hair was in loose bun, making her tendrils frame her face.

I unlocked the passenger door when she came close and I gestured her inside.

“What the fuck do you want from me?” She hissed, clearly irritated.

“I just wanted to have a discussion, that’s all,” I said.

She cursed under her breath and folded her arms over her chest defiantly.

She’s a feisty one but shockingly, it turns me on.

I could feel my pants growing tight as my dick hardened.

I stole a look over her lips and I nearly came to see the  pout she pulled.

“Go on, talk!” She demanded.

I didn’t want my lust to be obvious but my voice sure as hell betrayed me when I uttered. “I want us to work together.”

Josie snapped her head towards me, glaring.

“I can’t work with you. Never. Nada!” she yelped when I took her hand in mind. I felt the zap electricity

through my body.

Josie speedily withdrew her hand and balled it into a fist.

of

“I saw the report, Josie. Your reviews are too poor for a popular excellent language teacher like you.”

My words quickly made her pause. She fired her fiery eyes at me and muttered.

“How did you know?”

“It doesn’t matter, Ms. Rose. All you have to know is that someone was behind all that.”

I noticed she barely breathed and it made me want to hold her.  , I want her soft body pressed against mine.

“But I can help you work it out. I can fish the person out for you. Only if you let me.”

Chapter 18

I said, looking into her  hazel eyes. Josie blinked, breaking her gaze from mine, I hated it.

“Don’t bother about it, Mr. I can handle myself.” She snapped, grabbing her bag to leave when I blurted.

“What about your mortgage? You have debts to pay, Ms. Rose. Work for me and I’ll have these settled.”

She looked at me and sneered. Her face is deadpan. “You stalked on me?”

“No, that was pretty much obvious!”

Her face reddened at my last words and she cussed, turning properly to look at me.

“Oh, so you’re

insulting me now? Because I’m not as dressed as your Harem of women? Because I’m in

clothes…”

poor

“That’s not what I mean…” I tried to defend myself. I mean, I didn’t  frame the words well. Now she thought I was insulting her.

Damn, I’ve screwed up.

” you! Mr. Ashton! I can never work for your cocky  !” She barked and exited the car. The way she slammed the door shut shocked the living hell out of me.

I watched her hastily

walking away from the square and my heart crumpled.

I messed up.

‘yes you did‘ my wolf snarls. ‘so prepare to lose me…

Shit. Shit. Shit! I hit the wheel in anger.

It had gotten messier than I thought…

There’s only one way out…and I drove away from the town square

heading over there…I can’t lose everything.
