Chapter 473 That's Enough

Byron's hand trembled visibly.

"It won't happen," he promised. "I can transfer the Crawford Group, the Imbe Group, and all my assets to your name!"

Athena was stunned.

To Byron, these things were extremely precious.

"Alright." Athena lowered her eyes, trying to pull her arm away from his grasp. "I really have to go now."

"Wait!"

Byron said quickly.

And he leaned in for a kiss.

The room fell silent as they shared a long, lingering kiss. When it ended, Byron pulled Athena into a contented embrace.

"Are you trying to strangle me?" Athena patted his arm lightly.

Byron kissed her cheek. "You've forgiven me, right?"

Athena was silent for a moment before speaking.

"Byron, I'm only going to ask you this once. If you lie to me, I'll never forgive you in my lifetime."

"Go ahead," Byron said, turning serious. "I won't lie to you."

He had never lied to her in the past, except for that one time when Freya had returned.

"Are you and Freya really not back together? Have you ever slept with her?" Athena asked seriously. "Think carefully before you answer."

"I have never reconciled with her, never slept with her, and never been intimate with her," Byron replied firmly. "If I'm lying to you, may I die a terrible death!"

"What nonsense are you talking?" Athena covered Byron's mouth with her hand. "Don't speak such things in the church!"

Byron pulled her hand away and held it tightly in his own. "We must let the Buddhas bear witness. Thea, I only love you. I only want you. No one else could ever take your place." Athena's ears burned a little.

"Byron, five years is not a long time, but it's not short either. I've changed a lot. I'm completely different from who I was before. You need to understand that and be sure of your feelings. Are you still holding onto the Athena from five years ago?"

But Byron was resolute.

He loved the woman standing before him.

Time could not change it.

"I also need to know if you can be a father to my child," Athena continued.

Now she had to consider whether Byron could be a good husband.

And she also had to consider if he could be Aiden and Mia's father.

"Okay!" Byron replied without hesitation. "I'll pick up the kids tomorrow!"

"What's the rush? You've caught me now, and I'm not going anywhere." Athena couldn't help but roll her eyes.

Byron laughed.

He lowered his head to kiss her again.

"That's enough!"

Athena calculated the time and pushed him away.

"How so?" Byron looked at her with aggrieved eyes. "That was over five years and more than two thousand days and nights." The thought of it alone made his heart break.

"You don't know how much it hurt me to feel your presence fading away from our apartment every day."

Athena remained silent.

If she could go back in time, she would still make the same choice.

Back then, she and Byron had reached a dead end.

She didn't want to be his caged bird.

And she didn't want her children to be born and raised in that environment.

"I didn't water the plants," she said after a while, changing the subject. "I'll do it tomorrow."

Byron hugged her tightly.

He behaved as though he were attempting to fuse their bodies.

Athena hesitated for a moment.

In the end, she raised her hand to stroke his head. "Byron, don't be so clingy. I don't like clingy men."

"I'm not clingy," Byron replied defensively.

Seeing him like this, Athena almost burst out laughing.

They hugged for a while longer.
