Byron accompanied Athena to the parking lot.

But something happened as soon as they reached the car.

"Byron!" someone called out.

It was Lola who had appeared out of nowhere.

And they were both startled.

Byron instinctively stepped in front of Athena to shield her.

But Lola still had a glimpse of her face.

"You... Where did you find her?" Lola demanded, shocked. "Sure enough, you've been coveting those jewels. Or did that old woman not leave them to Athena at all? Did you bribe the lawyer to add them in?"

"Go."

Byron squeezed Athena's hand and urged her to get into the car.

"You're not going anywhere!"

Lola seemed to have lost her mind as she lunged forward, trying to grab Athena's hand.

Byron pushed her away without hesitation. "Don't touch her!"

Lola stumbled back a few steps, nearly falling.

"You're a monster!" she screamed, pointing at Byron. "You caused me to lose my child and you knew the truth when I was a teenager. You never told me! You enjoyed my maternal love like a thief and then stole my company and had me locked up in an asylum for this woman. You tortured me! Abused me! And now you want to take those jewels for yourself!"

Byron didn't want Athena to hear that.

He escorted her to the driver's seat.

He might remain composed.

But his grip on Athena's hand was forceful.

He acted as if it were his lifeline.

Lola picked up a stone and hurled it at Byron, screaming curses at him.

Athena was startled.

She pulled Byron out of the way just in time.

The stone had almost hit him in the head.

His injuries from the car accident hadn't fully healed, and the stone would have caused him to bleed again. "Lola!"

Athena snarled, stepping forward.

Lola saw Athena's face.

Seemingly scared, she took two steps back and laughed weirdly. "You look like her doubleganger. Byron must have spent a fortune on plastic surgery for you, right? Girl, it's not worth it. He's a monster! He has no sincerity. He treated Athena terribly. Her family died and he was still fooling around with other women overseas! Now that Athena is dead, he's made you look like her. "Is that so?" Athena sneered. "Lola, you keep talking about maternal love, but what kind of maternal love do you have?"
