Chapter 2030 The Rescue Operation

Mike entered the Lauries Mansion and discovered Martin lying in a pool of blood.

After a quick assessment of the situation, Mike immediately called an ambulance for Martin. He knew Byron was involved, so for safety reasons, he contacted the Stella Group for assistance.

With the ambulance dispatched Martin was gradually losing consciousness. Just before fading away, Martin urged Mike, "Don't mind me, go find Mr. Crawford."

By the time Mike rushed out, Byron had vanished.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Mike didn't want to raise alarm bells.

Instead, he decided to follow the blood trail on the ground.

Soon, however, the blood trail disappeared. Mike resorted to spending money to access private surveillance footage from businesses along the route, which led him to a park nearby, but it was pretty late, and many companies around the park were closed.

Mike had to rely on his instincts with no surveillance footage to review.

Coincidentally, a car accident occurred on the other side of the park.

A drunk individual had stumbled onto the main road and was struck by a speeding car.

Recalling Martin's description of Byron's disoriented state, Mike tingled with anxiety and rushed to the accident scene.

Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm.

Mike explained, "I didn't know where to find Mr. Crawford, but I suddenly noticed a road sign that pointed toward Central Park. I remembered Central Park was where you and Mr. Crawford first crossed paths, so I quickly turned and headed to the park entrance."

Mike was across the street at that moment.

At that moment, on the park grounds, Athena and a few others hurried into the park.

He had a gut feeling that something was going to happen.

Mike, with a pre-arranged ambulance parked nearby, promptly summoned it.

Mike followed suit, sprinting into the park, leading to the unfolding events.

After recounting the situation, Athena nodded understanding and added, "So, how's Martin doing now? Is he here as well?"

Mike replied, not hiding from Athena, "Not too good. He's still in a rescue operation, and the prognosis isn't optimistic. Dorian is with him right now."

Athena felt a sharp pain and urged, "Tell the doctor, no matter the cost, we must save him. Spend whatever it takes to rescue him back."

"I understand," Mike nodded quickly. "Ms. Chelsea, take a breather. You look like you're not doing well at all. If Mr. Crawford wakes up, I'll let you know."

Athena's head was indeed spinning at the moment.

She took a sip of glucose and rested in the lounge opposite Byron's hospital room.

However, her nap was far from peaceful.

With her eyes closed, Athena saw the haunting and dreadful face beneath the water, both familiar and foreign, and the image of Byron slowly sinking into the lake's murky depths, lifeless. Her heart ached as if it were being twisted.

Suddenly, she remembered Byron's earlier words, that if he ever treated her poorly, it wouldn't be him but the vicious side of him taking control.

Athena jolted awake with a start.

"Ms. Chelsea, Mr. Crawford is awake!"

At that moment, a knock came from outside.

Athena immediately pulled aside the tiny blanket covering her and adjusted her sweatshirt's collar to conceal the bruises as best as possible.

Then she pushed the door open, heading for Byron's hospital room.

But Mike grabbed her.

Athena asked, puzzled, "What's wrong?"

Mike gestured for Athena to look at the hospital room's surveillance camera before going inside.

Athena frowned and took a look.

Byron was sitting by himself, staring at the foot of the bed and conversing with someone.

Athena's heart sank at that moment, and a shiver ran down her spine.
