Chapter 2029 Connecting the Dots

Athena and Logan had left Lakin not long ago when Byron received a call from the young man.

On the other end, it was chaotic, with sounds of smashing and yelling, and he was crying uncontrollably.

Byron initially thought about going there himself, but he remembered Athena's words, urging him not to see this young man again. After some thought, he summoned Martin.

He instructed Martin to make the run.

Martin followed Byron's address and was startled to find it near the Lauries Mansion, an unoccupied property.

Byron gave him a new phone number.

Martin couldn't locate the person, and the phone number appeared out of service each time, yet Byron managed to get through every time.

Byron was furious.

The boy's calls kept coming, but he grew weaker and more desperate as time passed.

Byron couldn't wait any longer. He had to go.

As Martin received the call from Byron, he didn't understand how Byron had already made it to the Lauries Mansion.

Martin rushed over immediately and was greeted by a shocking scene.

Byron was on his knees, appearing to administer first aid to someone. As Martin arrived, Byron said, "Call an ambulance. He's bleeding badly. We must get him to the hospital!"

But the phone number kept leading nowhere, and there was no sign of the young man.

With Martin's earlier suspicions in Northern Canakey, everything clicked when he witnessed this scene.

Martin ran up in agitation, trying to pull Byron to his feet. "Mr. Crawford! We need to find Mrs. Crawford now! We have to find Mrs. Crawford immediately!"

Byron snapped back. "Martin, can't you understand me? This child is dying. He's lost a lot of blood. I told you to call an ambulance!"

Martin shouted, "There is no child! Mr. Crawford, pull yourself together. Look around. It's just you and me here, no child!"

In Martin's words, Byron's expression suddenly went blank at that moment.

Byron lowered his gaze to his hands, still warm and stained with blood, then glanced at the ground.

"How can there be no child? He's right here!"

Byron pointed to the ground, where a pale-faced young man lay in a pool of blood, tears welling in his eyes as he looked at his son.

Martin grabbed Byron's shoulder and urgently said, "Mr. Crawford, you can't do this. You must consider Mrs. Crawford, Ms. Mia Newton, and Mr. Aiden Newton!" Martin knew that Athena and the two children were the most precious beings in Byron's heart.

Perhaps only they could bring him back to his senses.

Byron looked at Martin, his expression remaining blank for a few seconds.

Then, Martin saw a glimmer of clarity in Byron's eyes, and he immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Was Byron back?

"Mr. Crawford, it's going to be okay. Let me take you home." Martin's tone softened as he helped Byron to his feet and guided him towards the door.

But a few steps later, Martin felt a searing pain in his back.

Due to the intense pain, he instinctively released his hold on Byron, stumbling a bit to maintain his balance.

Martin raised his eyes.

Martin's mind went blank in an instant.

Byron's hands were covered in blood, and a knife was embedded behind Martin.

Byron stood there like an impassive deity sculpted from clay, coldly watching Martin slowly fall to the ground without uttering a word.

Without a word, he picked up a cane from the ground as if Martin didn't exist, stepped over him, and walked away.
