Alpha Kade had been pacing his room ever since his mother had given him the idea of how to get Carmine back. He just couldn’t wait to meet her and he was sure that once he invited Alpha Theo to his home over dinner, he would be able to manipulate Carmine into staying with him. He planned to use every seductive technique to win her

over.

Ruby noticed a silly grin on his face. “Kade,” she said, anger festering in her chest since the day his mother connived with him to get Carmine. “I will not sit quietly if you get Carmine back in the pack as your Luna. This is not right!”

He scowled at her. “You may go to hell, Ruby!” He turned around and leaned on the ledge of the window. It was night, and the stars were twin kling just like the hope in his chest, and Ruby was trying to snuff that hope.

Charging towards him, she forcefully grabbed his arm and spun him around. “Now that you know of Carmine’s secret, you and your mother want her? Why didn’t you express this need when you rejected her? Your mother was the one behind her escape. I hope you know that!”

He narrowed his eyes, growling at her. “Don’t you ever misbehave with me!” She flinched miserably. “And as for my mother, yes, she was into Carmine’s escape. She’s already told me about it.” No, she hadn’t. But did it matter? “Times have changed now. She was unaware of Carmine’s specialty.”

“So you are bringing Carmine only because she is a special wolf, and not because she is your mate?” she pointed rather roughly. “Are you a bigot in life?”

Kade was on her throat in a flash of a second. “Who are you to judge me, huh? You married me for my power and position and helped my mother to let Carmine go. Did you not?”

Ruby winced, paling. Her hands shot to Kade’s wrist, trying to remove it. But she couldn’t. He was way too powerful for her and it was like battling against a mountain of muscle. Her face turned red, and she coughed, struggling to breathe. “Listen to me now, because this will be your last warning,” he snarled. “Interfere with my job again and I’ll swiftly reject you, leaving you to grovel back to your father. Understand?”

Only when she nodded through her tears, he shoved her to the ground. She fell down with a shriek and remained there, crying. He gave her a disgusted look and then walked. out of the room. He went straight to his mother’s room. She curled her knees to her chest and buried her face, sobbing incessantly.

Ivy sat on the bed with an omega ser vant on the floor, instructing her to pack gifts. When she saw Kade, she smiled. “I have packed a few gifts for Alpha Theo and-”

Chapter 55

Picking up a red velvet box next to her, she revealed a gold bracelet by opening it. “This is for Carmine. Make sure that she wears it.”

As he picked up the bracelet, Kade’s sullen mood brightened. He noticed it had small round diamonds set on gold birds all over. “Thanks, mother,” he said with a smile.

“We have to woo her, Kade. Please be patient and don’t do anything reckless. Even if she severs the connection with the pack, she is still your mate,” Ivy instructed. “After the initiation ceremony, reclaim her.” When she looked behind him, Kade turned his head and noticed an Elder entering. He bowed to her and Alpha Kade. Ivy continued, “I am sending Elder Josh with you. He will witness you reclaiming her as your mate.”

“Oh!” Kade was surprised, but he marveled at how his mother thought about everything beforehand.

A smile formed on Elder Josh’s l*ps, highlighting his wrinkles. He said, “I will stay with Alpha Kade all the time, Mrs. Marshall. Don’t worry.” Saying that, he bowed to them again and left.

Ivy returned her attention to Kade. “After what we did to Carmine, I am sure she will be bitter, but you have to use every charm in your armor to get her back, okay?”

Kade released a long sigh. “I know, mother! My only hope is that she stays away from Alpha Theo for a sufficient amount of time.” He planned on getting Carmine even if he sowed suspicion in the mind of Theo.

“I hate that ba sta rd!” Ivy added with hatred in her voice. “His mother wanted to steal the man I wanted and now he wants to steal the woman you want.” Ivy portrayed she was the victim of what Angel did to her when it was just the opposite. She convinced Alpha Brian Marshall, Kade’s father, to turn down his true mate, Angel, and become her husband.

“I know!” Kade gritted his teeth, his hatred for Theo growing all the more.

“Anyway,” Ivy said. “Tomorrow, when you go there, don’t force yourself on her. Just watch her and when you see the opportunity, reclaim her. Elder Josh is going to hover around you all the time.”

He ran his fingers through his hair and nodded. “I will take care, mother, but I have a favor to ask.”

Ivy frowned. “What is it, Kade?”

He shook his head. “Ruby is feeling jealous. You have to take care of her.”

Ivy chuckled. “It’s simple, Kade. I will send her to her father’s place for a day.”

Chapter 53

“Wonderful!” Kade breathed a sigh of relief. He got up, k*ssed his mother on her check. and after glancing at all the gifts, he walked back to his room, excited that Carmine was finally going to come back to him.

The next day, he was up early. He trained his warriors at the pack house, came back to his house, where he took a nice, long shower. For once in his life, he didn’t have to see Ruby’s face in the morning. The woman sickened his wolf. His wolf would always growl at him for marking her and not being with his mate. Today, his wolf was surprisingly. quiet, as if waiting for him to meet Carmine.

Winn had sent him the coordinates of where to meet an hour back. In frustration, he clenched his teeth because they were only an hour away from the meeting place. Winn was sly. If he had known earlier, he would have sent his warriors to spy on them.

On the porch, his car was waiting for him, and behind it was another one with his. warriors, led by his Beta, Jory. It was 6AM and even though he felt that shifting into his wolf would probably take him faster he knew that Alpha Theo’s wolf might see him as a challenge and attack him. Sighing his frustration, he sat in the car.

As the car rushed towards the Willow Highlands, he couldn’t shake the exhilarating thought of stealing Carmine from Alpha Theo. Once he brought her to his pack, he would claim her and start the process of breeding with her. His thoughts went to the number of pups he was going to have to make his private army. Once they turned sixteen, he would send the pups to fight in wars. The first attack would be on Alpha Theo. After that, he would slowly attack all the other packs and get them under his rule.

A surge of excitement rippled through him when he imagined himself as the Alpha Supreme.

They reached the Willow Highlands a little later than 7:30AM.
