Adam (Jamie)

Right now I was preparing for the test for my next class that I have in a few minutes and that’s right I’m in the school despite Ethan not being well, I mean he’s fine but, you know a parent always worries over their children.

I heaved a sigh and again began to prepare for the supposed test, sometimes I wish I was happy and free, a teen again without all those stupid shit and constant remarks from your family for finding the mate, I snorted at that thought finding a mate for a wolf is wonderful experience but, I don’t want to find one I’m happy with my little bundle of joy thank you.

As the cue classroom door opened and flood came through in chatting and laughing like no care tomorrow. As the morning bell rang and every last one of them settled in their seats and looked at me expectantly, ok then. I clapped my hands together loud enough for the few chatters to dismiss “ok class settle down, so ready for today’s test” some students groaned some chorused yes ‘Mr. Ryker’, and then once more the class room door opened with a loud thud and came strolling in none other than Ryan, “sorry Mr. Ryker” he said.

“Well let me see your sorry ass in lunch time detention Ryan” and motioned him to take his seat, the whole class ‘ooh’, he just pouted but complied with my command.

After 40 minutes

I was left with stack of papers to grade and a lunch detention to attend, yeah what a great day so far and top on that my wolf is so anxious right now pacing back and forth in my mind giving me a serious headache, ‘would you stop’ I chided to him, but he ignored me and continued his pace. As lunch time rolled and after a few seconds Ryan came strolling in, giving me those head nods of his and plonked him on the desk in front of my desk, and gave me one of his signature smirks.

I raised one of my eyebrows at him and asked “what’s up with that smirk?”

“Nothing” he said and folded his hand at the back of his head “well are you excited”

“For what” I replied nonchalantly, not really caring what he was saying.

“Well for tonight” he said in ‘duh’ tone

I looked up from grading the papers and faced him with utter sheer confusion on my face and racking my brain about what kind of information I forgot, and most importantly what’s to do at night.

Ryan must have sensed the confusion and asked me in bewilderment “you seriously don’t know” I shook my head indicating that I have no idea what he was talking about.

“Well brother, I’m pleased to inform you that you and your whole family are invited to dinner on this very fine pleasant day with my family” Ryan said very proudly.

“When was this decided, if I may ask?” I said

“Well yesterday evening, actually it’s more for you than anyone else” Ryan said shrugging his shoulders

“Why” I probed further thinking why they would invite me to their family diner and my whole family nonetheless.

“Well it’s more for my brothers welcome diner but, as you see my brother dearest wants to meet you officially so, mom thought it was the best idea to invite your whole family for diner, but in my opinion they just missed Ethan” Ryan said giving me the pointed look at the last statement.

I could not hold my chuckle at this and said “but on the serious note why always you are the one giving me the news that my family should” frowning at the end

“tsk tsk Jamie I told you before and I’m telling you now we are family whether you like it or not” Ryan said as the cue the bell rang signaling the end of the lunch “well see you at the diner” with that Ryan was out of the class mingling with his friends, leaving me with the thoughts why this alpha is so excited to meet me. Well I have to just wait and watch.

After long agonizing hours at school I was still left with few papers to grade and some pop quizzes to make but, finally happy to go home and see my little rascal , even thinking of him it makes me happy, I hurriedly put all the files and papers in my drawer and locked it away and took all my stuff and proceeded my journey to home.

All the hallways were empty, just few lingering students or teachers here and there other than that it was all empty. I made my way to my car and slid into the passenger seat ,started the engine and in matter of few minutes I was parking outside my house took my stuff out of the car and then dumped inside my house and then again locking the front door I went to my I mean Romans home which is just beside me, I opened the front door of their house and announced not that I needed to but, did it anyway and made my way in the living room where Emma was just sitting looking little exhausted and Jeremy was sprawled at the couch beside her.

“rough day” I asked no one in particular, jer grunted in response and Emma looked up hearing my voice and gave me a small smile which I gladly returned “yeah, how was your day?” she asked me in return, “tiring” I replied and took the seat opposite her and Jeremy.

“So where’s everyone” I asked

“Romans is with Alpha and Joshua in the hospital I guess and the two little monsters are sleeping” Emma replied to my question. No wonder she’s exhausted taking care of two little babies.

“Sorry I burdened you with Ethan” I said feeling guilty. But she instantly assured me “oh it’s no problem Jamie Ethan didn’t bothered me at all, he’s an angle”

Then I remembered my talk with Ryan, him telling me about the dinner tonight “hey Emma what’s with the dinner with the Alpha family” I asked totally passive not giving any hint that I may or not be nervous about it.

“Oh that it’s just dinner Jamie nothing to worry about and by the way who told you about this” Emma asked looking totally confused.

“Just a little birdie told me, not that matter but, why even they invited us if it’s their family dinner or event” I asked her back.

“oh they really missed you last time and Alpha Logan really wants to meet you and as you can see Jeremy is mated with his sister so , we are basically family so they thought it will be good to have us there and they will finally meet you and Ethan officially” Emma ranted off, ok that’s interesting I think but, this idea of dinner with the Alpha and his family is just not settling good with me, not at all.

As cue Ethan started crying Emma rolled her eyes and said “I swear that kid of yours totally knew when you are in and out of the house” I just grinned at her and made my way to the nursery in their house, when I opened the door to the nursery I was greeted with sight of Riley sleeping and Ethan crying his eyes out, I walked up to his crib and when I got into line of his vision he stopped crying for second and then another sec he was crying again holding his hands out for me to hold him, I carefully picked him up kissed his forehead few times and cooed at him “daddy missed you too buddy” he hid his face in my shoulder but, now he was not crying at least “did you missed daddy?” I asked him now holding him in air a little so that I can look at him properly , he just made few baby sounds now days I’m trying him to say ‘daddy’ or ‘da-da’ at least but, only sound he makes is “hum-hum” or “un-un” and few mores. “Do you want to go down buddy, are you hungry?” I asked him he only grinned showing his still coming teeth and saliva coming out of his mouth. I wiped that off as sensing our presence Riley started crying so, I picked him up and took both of these monsters downstairs in the kitchen to feed both of them some juice.

When I entered the kitchen only to see Romans holding Emma from behind and kissing her neck or specifically his mark on her. Gross. So I cleared my throat to cater their attention and said “save PDA for your bedroom innocent eyes in the room” they instantly pulled away, Emma was blushing so hard and Roman was no behind, he came forward and try to took Riley from my hold but, him being little fussy he is refused to leave my hold, then sighing defeat he took Ethan from me who happily went in his hold and started playing with his ears. “I think my son loves you more than me” Roman commented, I just rolled my eyes and said “yeah that’s because he missed his favorite uncle, right Riley” he made some sound back in his throat.

“See, he agrees” I said, Roman rolled his eyes and sat opposite me and said “so are you ready for tonight’s dinner?” playing with Ethan.

I just shrugged my shoulders and said “not really, I mean I already met everyone” but, in reality I was nervous for a totally unknown reason.

“Hmm whatever you say Jamie, whatever you say but, Alpha Logan is really looking forward to seeing you, you know” he paused a little and then looked up and said “just don’t mess up and control your temper will you” he warned me.

“Yeah yeah” I said “I will but, I think this dinner is totally unnecessary and if Alpha wants to meet me, he would have just called me or something”

“Yeah but, he’s Alpha and whatever he says go” Roman stated and then added “just be ready at six ok we have to be there at seven”

“Ok I will” I said back knowing Roman would take me there kicking and screaming, but I still have that unnerving feeling about this dinner and it’s going to be either disaster or peaceful but, knowing my instincts it’s later.
