As though there was a black veil around his eyes, he could barely see the outline of his hands when he looked at them. Even so, it was a huge improvement compared to when his vision was pitch-black. Treyton walked up to him and waved his hand excitedly in front of Cedrick's face. "Can you see my hand?"

"Not clearly, but can at least make out the direction it is moving in," Cedrick replied honestly.

"Try looking at my face, then. Are you able to see my expression?" Treyton pressed on while leaning forward.

Cedrick stared at him for a few seconds before shaking his head.

Treyton let out a disappointed sigh and turned toward Kieran.

"What should we do, Kieran? He has a meeting the day after tomorrow, but he can barely see anything. Craig and Yael are really sharp, so they'll definitely notice!"

Kieran showed no change in emotion as he updated Cedrick's details on his file "Calm down, will you! We still have one whole day tomorrow."

He had removed his ugly-looking disguise and restored his handsome appearance by the time he returned to the palace corridor.

Nico then took the route that he had previously taken to the palace and arrived at Alzer Palace shortly after.

The atmosphere at Alzer Palace was calm and serene due to its dim lighting and few people passing through, which formed a huge contrast with the lively event hall.

Nico was halfway through exploring Alzer Palace when two guards approached him from the shadows.

Upon noticing his outfit, however, the two guards immediately switched up their tone and said respectfully in Epean, "I'm afraid you may have gotten the wrong place, sir. The event hall is that way. This is Mr. Vidar's private residence."

He then pretended to be angry as he walked up to one of the guards and grabbed him by the collar. "Take a good, long look at me, will you? How dare you not know who I am?"

Frightened by his sudden outburst, the two guards exchanged nervous glances before one of them stammered softly. "W-We're new here at this palace, sir! The princess had us assigned to Mr. Vidar immediately after hiring us, so we really don't know who you are!"

He then began searching every square inch of the entire room, leaving no stone unturned.

Upon regaining consciousness, Charles frowned as he felt a sharp pain on the back of his head. He instinctively reached out to rub his neck, only to see bloodstains on his fingers. Gwendolyn was sipping on some fruit juice on the couch next to his.

Charles glanced at the room around him before sitting up straight. "Who was here, Gwen?" he asked cautiously.

Gwendolyn ignored his question and responded with another one, "Be honest, Charles. You never intended to hand me Super Antiviral, did you?"

Charles tensed up and narrowed his eyes menacingly. "It seems you are already onto me.”

Gwendolyn placed the glass of fruit juice down before saying, "You opened up to me about a lot of things today, but you left out the part about the antidote. Did you really think I was still the same ignorant, naïve girl from ten years ago?"

Charles lowered his head as he replied, "Yes, I never intended to give you the antidote because I wanted to have you all to myself. Only with Cedrick dead will you truly belong to me in body and mind." Gwendolyn let out a snicker. "That's where you're wrong. If he dies, my heart dies along with him. If you're the cause of his death, then I shall hate you to the bone and have you killed as well." Charles simply stared at her without saying another word.

Gwendolyn then decided to appeal to his emotion by saying, "Seven years ago, I had nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for you. You were like an embodiment of justice and righteousness, which is the complete opposite of this heartless and ruthless monster you have become."
