“Chris. Chris! Are you alright? Are you hurt? Are you okay?” Frightened by the paleness of his skin, I held him like glass in the middle of my chest. He was breathing, at least, but I was not sure for how long.

My eyes scanned the area and it landed on what seemed like cookies with crumbs scattered across the floor. No…he didn’t.

My attention quickly reverted to Chris when he suddenly convulsed for a bit before turning limp. Panic filled my throat immediately. What do I do with you?

His eyes turned black, almost completely swallowing the specks of green of his eyes. It looked menacing and mad; it was the first time I found myself afraid of him. My hands shook uncontrollably as I tried to keep his head still, but it was only for a minute that I got him under control, when he suddenly burst into fits of soundless laughter.

I put 9-1-1 on dial right away. I just hope they come soon enough.

“Hang in there, Chris. I’m right here. You’re going to be okay. Stay with me. Please.”

But all I got from him were empty eyes and blue lip shivers.
