Their Silver Moon
Chapter 37 - Warm Waters

Nathaniel Black

My body felt heavy and my head woozy, like I’d had too much to drink. Yet, I wanted to spill blood, I wanted to get revenge, to hurt them as they had hurt me. But I couldn’t move, no I wouldn’t. As it hadn’t taken her long to fall asleep in my arms, having slipped off the armchair into my arms, her very essence calming me in a way I had nearly forgotten.

Her scent over washed the bitterly sweet once that laced the halls and the rooms while I could feel my body mending, just through her touch, just through her presence. Had the silver still not been laced in my system, I would have picked her up and hoped into bed. But my own body felt heavy, my own skin and muscle felt foreign. My body shook, but not with rage, with the decay, with the pain – as my muscles had begun to weaken over the weeks of my confinement. Of my torture.

She lay between my legs, clinging to my body as she slept. And I refused to move, I refused to wake her, I was adamant in letting her sleep. The days and the nights had blurred together, but somehow the connection between Alice and myself had grown stronger, grown more than I had ever imagined. When the cool embrace of sleep did grace me, I would often dream of the night sky – the sky I was certain Alice had been looking at.

Soon the darkness embraced me, soon, I slipped into sleep.

I wasn’t sure how long we’d sat on the floor, but she shifted in my arms and my eyes snapped open, the presence of my wolf stronger and I looked down at her once again. She smelt, not just like Alice, but of blood and I wondered who’s, she smelt of melted snow and pine trees, of dirt and sweat.

Absent mildly, I ran my hand down her face and let it wander across her beauty, across every inch of this perfect woman, my wife and the mother of our children. I closed my eyes again and pulled her harder against my chest as the slight flutter of their heart beats could be heard between our soft breathing.

“I love you,” she said, her voice softly as she clung to me as tightly as I to her.

“I love you too,” I said, nuzzling her head.

“I need to go to the toilet,” she said.

I smirked, “I think also a shower is in order,” I added.

She looked up at me, some of the light had returned to her eyes, but the hollow greyness of her cheeks and eyes still haunted me, still tormented me. “Are you saying I smell?” she asked.

“Yeah, a little bit,” I shrugged.

She smiled, a small smile, “you’re holding me pretty close for someone who smells.”

“You told me you’re carrying my child-”

“Children,” she corrected, making me smile more.

“Fine, you told me that you’re carrying my children and then you expect me to let you go?” I asked.

She smiled more and buried her face into my chest, “then join me,” she purred.

I smirked and nodded.

I wasn’t sure who supported who, as we stood. My arms felt weak and my back stiff, but I suspected that was from falling asleep sitting up, with Alice in my arms, and her legs wobbled as she stood, making me pull her to my chest. “Where are we?” I suddenly asked, focusing on the cold stone room which was furnished richly with thick rugs, and gold framed paintings.

“Shower first,” she sighed, the smile falling from her face as she led me towards what we assumed was the bathroom.

Upon opening the door, we discovered that bathroom had been taking very literally, as there was no shower. Instead one of the largest copper baths I had seen sat in front of a window.

I slightly recognised the landscape, with harsh mountains topped in snow and tall snow ladened trees filled the gorges and valleys between the peaks, I was certain I had seen it all before. She leant over and turned the taps, hot, steaming water bubbling out into the copper bath.

I caught a glimpse of myself in front of the mirror above the vanity, I hadn’t given much thought to the underwear I wore, but I now saw my own reflection, my own skin. I had thought Alice looked sickly, looked exhausted and fatigued. But I was so much worse.

My face was hollow and gaunt, my muscles had begun to decay, making me look skinny for the first time in my life, and the scars, they would never heal, not with magic, not with Alice’s touch. They snaked their way around my body in the all too familiar pattern that the chained and slinked across my skin, the deep indents were still stained pink from where my body was healing. I ran my fingers up them, they spiralled around my arms, chest and back, and I flinched as they still stung.

I jumped as Alice appeared behind me, her smile had vanished as she looked at the pained look on my face and she wrapped her arms around me.

“I thought you looked bad,” I admitted.

A forced smile worked it’s way onto her face as she rested her head against my arm and looked at me through the mirror, she brushed her hands against the bread of hair that had grown on my face, only making me look more rugged.

“I’ll shave it off,” I said.

She shrugged and look my hand, leading me to the bath that was now half full, “I don’t mind it, only if you want to,” she said. She had taken off her clothes and I noted that she looked skinnier, but her muscles more prominent, I knew it was stupid, but I was almost expecting to see a bump on her stomach, and she pushed me into the water, making me sit and she slipped between my legs, resting her body against my own.

“How long has it been?” I asked.

“you’ve been gone just over three weeks,” she said, her fingers running circles on my knees.

“And you?”

“About five or six weeks,” I replied.

I wrapped my arms around her “so our wedding night?” I purred. I noted the slight flush on her cheeks, as I recalled the night, as I recalled the best fuck of my life.
