William shook his head, a wry smile on his face. "Skyler doesn't have a girlfriend. He's always buried in his research and has no tfor dating." "Oh." Vivian grinned. "Then there's still hope for Ms. Joanna. She's the prettiest teacher at our school." William made a face, shifting the topic, "Class is about to start. Gossip hour's over, Halley. You better head back." Halley waved them off. "I'll see you guys later. I'll spill the tea if there's any new scoop." On the way hat noon, Skyler popped open a Tupperware and bit into a mini muffin.

"Delicious. I love the cranberry ones. Angel must have made these for me." "Of course," William chuckled. "I'm all about almonds, and Kane, he's a chocolate guy." Skyler's smile split his face. He reveled in being the kid Angel doted on.

At home, it felt like he was invisible, with Mom, Dad, and Tanya never seeming to know or care about his likes or dislikes. Angel got him like nobody else did.

Back at the house, Jolin brought a plate of fruit for the kids.

The three of them sat on the couch, munching away and chatting.

William and Kane exchanged a glance, and then William leaned in and whispered, "Skyler, we caught wind of your 'situation’ today." Skyler blinked, puzzled. "What situation?" "Word on the street is that several single teachers at our school have a crush on you. Ms. Joanna even asked you out to lunch today," William teased, his tone light as if it were all just a joke.

Skyler made a face. "Stop it. You've scared me. Pretending to be grown-up has its downsides. Adults are so complicated, always thinking of love. But me? I'm just a simple kid." William stifled a chuckle behind his hand. It was tough to be popular, but what could Skyler do since he was so cool? "Nowadays, it's all about looks. If you're handsome, you're bound to have problems. Look at Dad and Uncle Leopold. They have a fan club. Kane and I will probably have the sissue when growing up." "Would that bother you?" Skyler teased.

William stroked his chin, affecting a grown-up demeanor. "I don't think so. I quite like the ladies." He figured Kane might mind, though. He was the indifferent and aloof type, totally different from William.

Skyler stuck out his tongue playfully. "When you get a girlfriend, does that mean you won't hang out withanymore?" William replied earnestly, "Don't worry. Girlfriends will always be last on my list. You guys are what's important.” Unbeknownst to them, Aurelia was eavesdropping from the stairwell, her mind reeling. She had mixed feelings in her heart, not knowing what to do.

Oh no, she thought, “They've inherited the Stirling family’s charm and the trouble that comes with it.” As a future mother-in-law, she never wanted her son to forget his family for a girl.

But from a woman's perspective, being last in the heart of the one you love? That was a devastating blow.

If Leopold ever dared to put her last, she'd say goodbye without a second thought, parting ways for good.

She was determined not to let her son grow up to be a rogue like Mr. Chad. She realized the importance of teaching him to respect love and to treat his partner with kindness and dignity.

If Mr. Chad had been a decent husband and a caring father, he could have avoided tragedy and spared Leopold all this trouble.
