Kane glanced over, his eyes accidentally meeting Ramona's. She quickly looked down, her eyes brimming with unshed tears.

He pressed his lips and, grabbing a handful of mini pancakes, walked over to her. "My mom's mini pancakes are killer. You should try some," he said, offering her the sweet comfort.

Ramona felt a lump in her throat, and a single tear splashed down onto her cheek.

"I'm sorry..." "Hey, no tears, okay? If someone sees, they might think I'm the bad guy here. I've forgiven you already," Kane said, placing the pancakes beside her before returning to his desk.

Tears welled in Ramona's eyes. She knew Kane had forgiven her but also acknowledged that their relationship would forever be altered.. They couldn't be best friends again because best friends don't hurt each other. Vivian glanced at Ramona, sensing something was off. Usually, Ramona would join them, sharing mini pancakes and laughter.

But they all had their secrets, and Vivian knew better than to pry.

Skyler was happily munching on the mini pancakes Aurelia had given him in the teachers’ lounge. Everyone agreed Angel made the best pancakes in town.

The foreign language teacher, Joanna, approached. She was a stunningly beautiful woman of mixed heritage, and to the surprise of many, she was still single.

"Mr. Heninger, care to joinfor lunch?" she asked.

"Sorry, Ms. Joanna, I've got plans to eat at home," Skyler replied firmly. Lately, he'd been having lunch at Blossom Villa, and Jolin had promised to make his favorite beefsteak. He couldn't wait to get home.

A hint of disappointment flickered across Joanna's face. "Maybe sother time, then." As she walked away, the vice principal, Hammer, chuckled. "Mr. Heninger, a man your age, should consider settling down. Joanna's quite a catch. Why not give it a shot?" Skyler made a face. He was still a kid at heart, not ready for romance. Early love was not on his agenda.

“Excuse me, Hammer, I've got a class to teach," said Skyler.

He dashed off, leaving Hammer laughing to himself. Those with high intellect often lacked a bit of emotional intelligence, which was the sold story.

Back in Class A, Halley burst in with a mischievous grin across his face. Although he belonged in Class B, he was the school's go-to for the latest gossip.

"Gather around for the latest scoop, folks! Who's hungry for sjuicy news?" he teased.

"What's the dish, Halley?" Vivian asked with an eager smile.

Glancing at William and Kane, Halley assured, "Oh, it's a fresh one, witnessed with my own eyes, not just hearsay." The kids circled, their youthful curiosity piqued. Despite their age, they were savvy little things.

"Spill it, Halley. Who's involved?" With a conspiratorial smirk, Halley revealed, "Well, I was dropping off shomework in the teachers' lounge today when I saw Ms. Joanna ask Mr. Heninger out to lunch. She's got a crush on him. I've heard several single teachers are sweet on Mr. Heninger." Vivian giggled. "Can you blthem? Mr. Heninger's a dreamboat and a top-notch teacher to boot." William and Kane exchanged a look. "Did Skyler say yes?" William asked.

Halley shrugged regretfully. "Nope, Mr. Heninger said he had plans to eat with you guys at home. Ms. Joanna looked so bummed, nearly in tears." William wasn't surprised. Skyler was just eight years old at heart. How could he be dating adults? He was still a kid, playing grown- up games.

"Grandma's cooking his favorite beefsteak today. Of course, he wants to be hfor that." Vivian blinked thoughtfully. "We've never asked Mr. Heninger if he has a girlfriend, have we?"
