" Take out the rest." Iris instructed.

" But she's mine."

Her suit came on and the orb on her black half mask glowed a deadly black.

The fight started and all hell broke loose.

I could hear the sound of metal on metal, groans and grunts. I had Rose and Faye in my group. And Faye, was on fire!

Literally cause she was a fire elementist.

One of the magicians tried to cast a spell on her but she moved away just in time. The heat of her body started to melt his weapon and he screamed in pain as he dropped it. Rose whipped him with her whip. The whip hooked the skin of his arm and then she pulled, tearing the skin off and it started bleeding.

He fell and I knocked him out.

Another one tried sneaking up on Rose but I shifted quickly and bit his right shoulder.

He screamed and threw me off. Luckily, I landed on my feet. He was about to cast a spell when Faye sent balls of fire towards him.

The smell of burnt flesh filled the air and I winced.

" Good job." I yelled and gave her a high five. I turned to give Faye a high five but she was still on fire so I opted for a thumbs up instead.

The fight went on for what felt like hours until we finally defeated the magicians.

" That's the last one." Bryan said tossing a magician onto the pile of magician bodies we had made. Seb cast a spell to immobilise them in case they become conscious.

" The Outcasts should be on their way." He said.

" Hey, where's Iris?, I haven't seen her since the fight started."

" Last time I saw her was when she gave us orders to take them out but leave the troop leaders for her." Rose said.

" I think I saw her chase the troop leader into the forest." Russell said.

" Oh no!" Seb exclaimed running his hand through his hair.

" Is something wrong?" I asked.

" Yes!, Iris with an evil magician?, Who knows what she'll do?!"

" Cole can you try tracing her scent?"

" I'll try."

I took a deep breath and tried to concentrate.

" She's about half a mile east."

" The rest of you stay here, Rose and Cole come with me." He said as we ran towards the eastern part of the forest.

When we got there Iris had her hand around the troop leader's neck and had pinned her against a tree.

" You were going to kill innocent people." Iris stated, her voice void of any emotion.

" I-I-I-'m s-s-sorry." The troop leader gasped but Iris tightened her grip.

" Did it ever occur to you that they had families too?!"

She tried to pry Iris's hand away but Iris tightened her grip.

" She's going to kill her." Rose gasped.

" Iris!"

Iris turned towards us her hand still around the troop leader's neck. Her lilac eyes had turned pitch black. Rose let out a loud gasp. She stumbled back a bit but I steadied her.

" Iris please, stop!" Rose pleaded.

Iris shook her head like she was trying to clear it then her eyes turned normal. She released the troop leader and she started coughing.

" You don't deserve my mercy." Iris said before walking towards us.

I heard a light shuffling and turned just as the troop leader threw a dagger towards Rose.

" Rose I yelled. As I was about pushing, Iris jumped in front of her and used the wind to the dagger turn towards the troop leader. It moved really fast and in the bat of an eyelid, the troop leader was down on her knees clutching the dagger that had pierced her abdomen.

" Let's go." Iris said walking away without a second glance at the dead troop leader that laid on the forest floor.

By the time we got to the other warriors, the Outcasts had arrived.

" Iris." A man that appeared to be the leader greeted.

" Wes. We have one dead about half a mile east."

" Just one?, You've gone soft Gonzalez."

" Don't test me Anderson."

" Alright." He replied raising his hands up in mock surrender.

" Clear this mess up." He yelled to his workers.

We got to school around 4pm and everyone was outside awaiting our arrival. They started cheering the instant the saw us.

" Iris! Iris! Iris!" They cheered.

Iris changed from her suit into her normal clothes. She looked at them and raised an eyebrow and started walking towards the dorms. The crowd parted for her but she didn't acknowledge it. She had a murderous look on her face and no one wanted to be a victim of her wrath.

" Well, she's gone. But welcome back guys." Mr T greeted.

Rose, Seb and I gave a report of the mission in Mr T's office.

Rose had been off since we found Iris alone in the forest. Elder Moira seemed to have noticed this and she asked,

" Rose, what's wrong?"

She shook her head and tears gently rolled down her cheeks.

" I saw it." Rose replied, her voice trembling

" Saw what?" Elder Yvonne asked clearly concerned.

" I saw darkness."

" It's taking over her, gradually."

I looked at Seb hoping he would understand what she just said but he shook his head. I looked at Mr T and Emily but they were also clueless.

What is ' darkness'?

Rose seemed better today. Bryan had been doing everything possible to make her smile. He might be a total idiot, but he was a good boyfriend. We walked into the arena because Bryan said he had a surprise for Rose.

" I promise it will make you smile." He said smiling.

" What are you up to Bryan?" Rose questioned smiling.

" Something totally awesome." He replied and she shook her head.

I smiled as I watched my best friends bicker.

Bryan eventually left to get his surprise and I turned towards Rose.

" How are you feeling?"

" Better. Thank for asking."

" Hey, can I ask you something?"

" You just did."

" Ha ha very funny."

" I know right, I crack myself up sometimes. So what is it?"

" What exactly is the darkness?" I asked and she sighed.

" You don't have to answer it if you don't want to."

" No, it's fine." She said then she gulped.

" The darkness, it's unexplainable. It's like this thick dark cloud of nothingness."

" You saw it in her eyes?"

" No, in her head. When she looked at me yesterday, I accidentally slipped into her head and I saw it-"

She was cut off by the sound of Sia's Greatest blasting through the speakers. Bryan came in flying above our heads.

" You have got to be kidding me!, This is his surprise?!" Rose exclaimed giggling.

" Well it did make you smile." I replied.

" True."

Bryan kept on flying higher and he made elaborate loops and turns. He flew round the volcano and the round the mountains.

" So what's it like?"

" What?"

" In her head, what's it like?"

" It's like this room with lots of doors. Each door is like a memory and there are these little clouds. Those are her thoughts. Her emotions are like tiny people and each one triggers a certain response or memory. But if a wrong memory is triggered, I can get stuck in there. Forever."

" That's why you're so cautious of going in." I said and she nodded

" The darkness, it's causing her emotions to trigger the wrong responses and it keeps growing. It was like the darkness wanted her to kill the troop leader."

" So you're saying it wants her to harm?" I asked and she nodded.

We looked up at Bryan as he flew and chuckled.

" I bet I can tell you what he's thinking right now." I said.

" I'm awesome." Rose and I said simultaneously and then laughed.

I looked closer at the mountains and pointed at some students.

" Hey are they supposed to be up there?"

" No they are not. They are meant to be in class. Plus it's not safe for Bryan to fly while they're up there."

" Bryan!" I yelled.

" Get down!"

He stopped and started flying on a spot. He seemed confused.

" Bryan get away from there!" Rose yelled.

I looked up at the students and saw one of them trying to control a huge rock but he lost control.

" Bryan!" I yelled but I was too late.

The rock hit shattered as it him and he shifted into his human form as he hit the ground.

Rose and I ran over to him. Blood had begun to pool around his head. The bone in his arms had no doubt been shattered and his legs were bent at an awkward angle.

" We are so sorry!" The students said as they approached us.

" Sorry?!" Rose snarled displaying her canines.

" Sorry is not going to fix him Clarissa!"

" Please be alright Bryan!" Rose cried hugging his body.

" I'll go get help." One of the students said running out of the arena.

" I told you sneaking in here was a bad idea." The student said and I shot him a murderous glare that shut him up.

" If anything happens to my best friend I am going to kill you."
