Jasmine thought everyone in this world was like her-that they would go to extreme lengths for money, fame, and glory. But Colin wasn't like her. He held different values. What she was doing only made him detest her more.

And he was visibly angered by what she had said. I studied Colin's reaction carefully, afraid that he would get carried away by wrath and make a scene. I couldn't care less if people gossiped about his outburst but I'd hate to see it ruin Jasmine's party.

Jasmine had spent a fortune to organize this party. Most importantly, I hadn't given her my gift yet. I couldn't wait to see her reaction once she received my gift. I could only hope she wouldn't turn crazy. And as I predicted, Colin was furious. He had always been a reserved person in front of everyone else he barely showed his emotions. His rage, joy, jealousy, and worries only appeared when he was with

me.

I once asked him why he was so aloof toward everyone. He kissed the tip of my nose and said that his emotions came from his heart and that his heart belonged to me. Since he wouldn't get too emotionally attached to anyone else, he was withdrawn toward them. Hearing that made me happy for a long time.

Unfortunately for Jasmine, her lack of emotional intelligence had truly riled Colin up. She implied that he was successful because of her. As reserved as he was, he couldn't stand it. No other men could stand it "Ms. Taylor, please save your kindness for someone else. I'm a proud, independent, hardworking, and smart man. I achieved all the successes you mentioned just now with my bare hands. In fact, the achievements I've obtained so far are the fruits of my labor.

"They have nothing to do with you, so stop taking the credit. It's embarrassing. As for the favor you're offering..." Colin grinned seductively. Disdain, incongruous on his face, oozed from his eyes. "You may keep it to yourself. I don't need it."

Colin glared at Jasmine. He was so mad that his anger turned into a smile. The contempt in his eyes sent chills down my spine.

Colin's friends had been teasing Jasmine that she had finally managed to ask Colin out. However, what Colin said completely changed the narrative. They looked at Jasmine with curiosity and condescension. Everyone, be it male or female, loved a good drama.

Jasmine came from a wealthy and influential family. Many people would want to be her friends. But Colin excelled academically despite his young age. He also outshone his competitors and was offered a tenure at Jesselton College. He, too, was perfectly capable.

At the moment, Jasmine was mortified. If she had stopped pulling underhanded tricks, perhaps she would have had a decent birthday party. Beautiful and rich, many young men would vie for her attention. Not everyone was stubborn like Colin. Who would turn down a shortcut to success?

But she was adamant, and it was a bad kind of adamant. It seemed like love truly could blind both men and women.

Despite noticing that things had spiraled out of control, Jasmine still refused to let Colin go. She laughed dryly and said, "It's just a joke, haha. Don't take it seriously. It's my birthday, Colin. I'm so happy you can be here."

Then, she flicked her hair and dropped the topic that embarrassed her. She smiled, extended her right arm coquettishly with her palm pointing to the sky, and asked, "Where's my present? I'm sure you bought me a present."
