Dakota's P.O.V

The next morning I woke up later than I had intended. My head was throbbing and my vision was blurred. My body barely budged as I urged it to move. "What the hell?" I grabbed at the throbbing pain in my head. I felt Off.

A glass sat on my bedside nearly empty of the contents, but at the bottom I could see a distinctive blue hue.

"Fuck!"

Danielle must have slipped something in my drink last night. She knew I had one in the evening every single night. That's how I coped with everything in my head. But why? I racked my brain for anything I could remember, hell I don't even remember seeing the wicked bitch herself.

It was just after 5 am. Which meant Kinsley should have started her training by now. Noah said they'd be holding the sparring in the gym today.

I quickly dressed and slowly crept down the stairs, My head was still aching from whatever was in that drink. Passing through the kitchen, I noticed the coffee was gone, meaning Kinsley had gotten the coffee I set up for her.

Entering the Gym area my eyes instantly searched for her. But she wasn't here. "Where is she?" I asked as I approached Noah.

His eyebrows wrinkled "Danielle said you called for her, and told me you didn't want her training."

I growled "She fucking played you. Find Kinsley now, I don't know what Danielle is up too but I have a feeling it isn't good."

Noah nodded and whistled loudly to get the other shifters attention. "Change of plans boys, Kinsley is M.I.A. Find her." Noah's voice was commanding. I didn't miss the tone of concern.

The second they left the building they had shifted to search for my Mate. I fell in behind them shortly after.

Even in wolf form, my vision was blurred. The harder I pushed, the worse it got causing me to move slower than the rest of the wolves ahead of me. What the fuck did she dose me with? A fucking tranquilizer? I wouldn't put it past the vindictive bitch, she played dirty.

'Meet us at the pack hospital, I've got Kinsley. She's..' Noah's voice wavered in my mind.

'She's what?' My anger was quickly taking over. What the hell happened?

'It's not good. Her heart beat is faint, she's still alive. I don't know if she's going to make it Dakota.'

Noah's voice echoed in my head, rage and horror building to a dangerous high. My head fell back in a howl, releasing what I was feeling inside. How could I let this happen? It was my job to keep her safe, and I couldn't even do that right.

I dashed for the pack hospital, who ever had played their hand in this with Danielle would be seeing their life cut short today. No fucking more.

I shifted as soon as I flew threw the doors to the pack hospital "Where is she!" My voice boomed, startling the occupants in the room. I needed to make sure she was still alive.

"Over here Dakota." Noah held the door open to a room, Handing off a pair of sweats as I made my way in. His expression was grim, God's how bad is it?

The scene in front of me was brutal. Doctors worked quickly to stop the blood from escaping from two different areas. One at her leg, the other at her back. Just below her heart. Fuck. I could hear her faint pulse, fighting to pump more blood through her frail body. Fight Kinsley, Please fight baby. Titan was raging within, desperately fighting for control as I struggled to restrain him. If I let him out now, everyone in this room would die.

Hours had passed when the Doctors managed to stabilize her injuries. But she wasn't out of the woods yet. The blade wound had almost killed her, Millimeters away from the heart. That wound alone made it difficult for the shifter blood to heal her quick enough. Her wounds were severe, someone wanted her dead. And I knew of one of those people.

I wanted to rip the whole pack apart to find who had done this to Kinsley. "She needs you here. Whoever did this will answer for this in time. But for now stay with her." Noah demanded from the door. He could sense how beyond fucking pissed off I am from this. I wasn't in the right mind to argue, nor did I want to leave her side.

I sat next to her, gripping onto her hand. "You can't die Kinsley, I need you." The words were just a whisper, choking me as they fell out. Touching her made me realize that being with her was worth all the danger in the world. Seeing her unconscious made me realize that I'd do anything to see those gorgeous Green eyes again.

I took the sponge and cleaned her face gently, taking care not to scrub to hard. Her breaths were shallow, and my heart clenched seeing her this way.

"Find Danielle. Bring her to the cells. She's the ring leader in this." I looked to Noah, my voice portraying the pure rage I was feeling inside.

He nodded and left the room.

It was late in the evening now when Kinsley stirred, her hand gripped to mine. I never let it go, I'd never let her go again.

Her eyes fluttered open as she groaned. "W-where am I?" Her voice was so hoarse.

"The pack hospital. Who did this to you?" I all but growled out.

"Why are you here Dakota?" She whispered as she pulled her hand from mine. For a moment, I stared at the empty space in my palm. Closing my hand into a fist "I'm going to kill whoever did this to you. You'll never be harmed again Kinsley, I promise as long as I still breathe."

I got up from the side of the hospital bed and headed for the door, I didn't want to leave. But I need to find who did this and eliminate the threat to my Mate. Titan was blood thirsty at this point, raging to rip into anyone for harming our mate.

"I don't know. I was ambushed by other wolves, I couldn't scent them either. But I heard Danielle's voice before.." Her voice had me stopping at the door. In my hand, my knuckles turning white from gripping the handle so tight.

I was moments away from losing it completely "Before what Kinsley"

"Before I was stabbed." Her voice was all but a whisper, almost afraid to speak her trauma aloud. Her face held so many emotions, it was like I was looking at her for the first time again. The trauma was dragging her into an endless black hole, trying to shred the beautiful soul inside to pieces. And that had me raging inside.

I threw the door open hell bent on finding everyone who did this. It'd be the last thing they ever did.
