Barbosa growled. “Who is this? I promise I will kill you myself.”

“Why? They got off easy unlike your third in command. He’s going to hell without his junk.” I paused. “I’m hurt. You can’t remember your own granddaughter? Makes me so sad...Not!”

“Selina. I’m going to kill you myself!” Barbosa yelled.

“No, your not. But, I’m. Going. To. Enjoy. Killing. You,” I said in a flat voice. I turned off the radio and put it in my pocket.

Matheus held his hand out for the radio as I gave him a confused look. I didn’t understand why he wanted it. I didn’t argue as I handed him the radio. He took the back off and pulled out something from inside it.

“Tracker. Looks like Barbosa kept track of his men as they hunted us.” He grabbed the other radio’s and took out the trackers, crushing them under his shit kickers. “We need to move from this location in case he sends some men to us, or we can wait for the men.”

“No, we need to move. Barbosa will send every man he has out to kill us. Let’s not make it easy for him. I say we move closer to the compound. We’re going to have to go in soon anyway. We don’t want to wait for more of his sick fuckers from California.” Madrid commanded as he looked at each of us.

“He will too. And, the fuckers from California are even sicker than the men here,” I confirmed as I shuddered.

“We have the information on where the sentries are, how about we go and take them out?” Matheus asked.

“Because we need to take them out right after they start their shift. We want to be able to kill them and then get into the compound,” Madrid explained as I nodded. “Let’s move off to the side. We need to talk about our plan for infiltrating the compound.”

We followed Madrid, making sure we walked quietly. We kept an eye on our surroundings. Matheus was holding a computerized machine in front of him. We were all curious about what it was, well, all of us except Madrid.

“What is that?” I pointed to the machine. “Is it some kind of smaller version of a ground-penetrating radar?”

Matheus stopped and looked at me with a wide smile. “Yes. I knew you were a smart one.”

I shrugged my shoulder and watched him as he started walking again. I wanted to see how it worked. I watched as he would adjust the width of the radar, checking all around us. The radar was really cool. A person didn’t need to roll a machine over the area to see anything under the ground.

“We’re cool in a one-hundred-feet radius around us. North, South, East, and West,” confirmed Matheus as he went back over the area.

“Okay, men and lady, let’s head to the grouping of trees over there,” Madrid ordered as he pointed to a grouping of trees. “We need to get our plan together, but we also need to be aware of our surroundings too.”

We all nodded and headed quietly to the trees. We climbed the trees at Madrid’s hand signals. After we got in the trees, every other person turned around to check our surroundings. The person with their back to the group could still hear our conversation and contribute their ideas of how to handle our insurgent.

“What do you think Matheus?” Madrid asked. “I have some ideas but you know this area.”

“Can Selina and I talk for about an hour? Everyone not on guard or anyone who wants can sleep for the hour.” Matheus questioned Madrid as he pulled me closer to him. I’m sure he knew I had ideas for the siege.

Madrid nodded his head, smiling at us. “I know you two have some great ideas. Hopefully, you two can set up the basics for the insurgent and the rest of us can pitch in.”

Matheus and I moved a little ways away from the men as Madrid laid down for a while. The men were looking over at us but didn’t ask any questions. Not yet.

“We needed to take the sentries out - all of them. We needed to start out a ways from the compound and then move in until all the sentries our gone. I’m sure he will have his best snipers in areas he didn’t before,” I whispered as I looked around.

Matheus nodded his head. He thought about the extra snipers. They would have to find them or we could be a target instead of them. “Okay, so we take out all the sentries, scoping out the snipers. I know you and Eagle can shoot. We have to set you in trees so you can take out the snipers. What do you think?”

“Fine with me as long as I’m not sitting in the backseat when we go into the compound.” I looked at Matheus, raising an eyebrow and crossing my arms over my chest. I waited for him to say something. He seemed to be fighting with himself about putting me in harm’s way. I watched as he made up his mind.

“Alright, I won’t leave you out of the plan for the compound. But, I’m sticking by your side,” Matheus stated, crossing his arms across his chest and giving a look. You know that look. The one that says ‘don’t argue with me’. Yeah, that look.

I nodded my head and smiled. As long as I was there when the monster was killed I didn’t care. I rather liked the idea of my mate staying by my side. I kissed his lips and hugged him. It felt natural as if I had done the same before.

“Have you had flashbacks from your previous life? One where we have been against him before and died?” I asked. I felt as if I was missing something and it scared me.
