Samantha sat in the cafeteria, listening to the discussions about the upcoming exhibition within the company. Her expression remained indifferent. 

She occupied a four–person table alone. While listening to the discussion, she occasionally scrolled through her phone to check her messages. 

“Aren’t you ashamed to eat in the cafeteria when your design has issues?” 

Mocking voices reached her ears. When Samantha lifted her head, she saw Linda standing beside her. 

Linda’s recently dyed and permed hair was eye–catching. Her words drew puzzled glances from onlookers. 

“I will have to thank you for your chaotic instructions on this matter.” 

Samantha wiped her mouth with a tissue. 

She then stood up, carried her tray, and left. 

Linda was filled with resentment. She could only stomp her feet in frustration 

before leaving. 

The incident in the cafeteria quickly spread through the company like wildfire. 

Samantha heard hushed conversations among the employees when she went to the 

basement parking lot. 

She paid no attention to the gossip, and found her BMW in the parking lot easily. 

However, she noticed someone who shouldn’t be there. 

“Mr. Hayes?” 

Samantha walked forward and opened the car door. 

Conrad’s hand quickly stopped Samantha from opening the door. 

He whispered, “Let’s have dinner together, beautiful.”

Samantha glared at Conrad, well aware that Kendrick did not like him. Yet, here he 

was, inviting her to a dinner in the company parking lot. 

“I’m busy.” 

Samantha evaded his hand and opened the car door. 

Conrad stood still, watching Samantha’s BMW drive away. He sighed helplessly 

before turning to leave. 

Kendrick observed the entire scene. A faint smile played on his face. He thought of 

how we could simultaneously steal the person Conrad liked. 

Samantha returned home with a restless mind. She messaged Conrad but received 

no response throughout the night. 

The next working day, Kendrick assigned her a task. 

“Before the SL series exhibition, accompany me to visit some bosses in other cities.” 

“My focus is on the exhibition.” 

Samantha continued writing while saying that. 

“If you say no, I can exclude you from the exhibition.” 

Kendrick wasn’t giving her any opportunity to reject him. 

Just as Samantha was about to get angry, Kendrick interrupted her by saying, “Until 

everything is clarified, the chief designer must avoid the media.” 

Samantha calmed down and realized this was the best choice. 

Kendrick smirked as he looked at Samantha, who had relaxed. It turned out she took 

work very seriously. 

The matter was then settled. Samantha didn’t inform Conrad about it as the 

suspicion around Conrad regarding the incident with Robb hadn’t been cleared yet. 

Since she had agreed to Kendrick’s suggestion, she went home and packed her 

things before leaving for the company. 

She thought it would be another boring trip like the last time. However, Kendrick seemed unexpectedly happy this trip. 

“I have seen your previous designs. They are very different from your current ones.” 

Kendrick held her old work in his hand. 

Samantha took a few glances and said, “My skill was not mature back then.” 

Recalling her previous works, she couldn’t help but feel emotional. 

“This trip to the small town might help you find some inspiration.” 

Kendrick put away the collection of works in his hand. Glancing at the suitcase Samantha was dragging, Kendrick exchanged a glance with Jude. 

Jude hurriedly went over to Samantha to help her carry her things. 

“A trip to a small town?” 

Samantha frowned. 

“There is a piece of land that needs development. The last contract was stolen by 

Conrad,” answered Kendrick. 

Samantha undoubtedly knew what he was talking about. 

Domestic itineraries were short. After alighting the plane, Samantha showed no signs of fatigue. They took a car to a small, unknown town. However, she found it 

somewhat familiar. 

The ancient and picturesque town was eye–catching. As night fell, there were only a 

few people on the street. 

Kendrick seemed to know this place very well. He brought Samantha to the door of a 

small courtyard and opened it. 

“Where are we?” 

Samantha looked at the tall trees and houses in the courtyard. It didn’t look like an

“As a relaxing place, this environment is not bad.” 

Kendrick’s eyes softened a bit. 

Kendrick unexpectedly appeared casual whilst staying at these old and dilapidated houses. He had changed out of his suit into simple casual wear. It made him look a 

few years younger. 

Samantha’s room was on the left side of the courtyard. Unlike the outside, the 

interior was exquisite and impressive. The craftsmanship of the furniture was very detailed. 

“Isn’t this the auction item from before?” Samantha exclaimed when she saw a vase 

in the corner. 

When she had just become a designer, she had attended many high–society events. with her superior and Francis. The vase, with its unique hollow craftsmanship, had 

been auctioned at a high price. Francis had even paid a considerable sum for it at 

the time.
