With a heavy heart later on in the day I took the recipe Emerald had given me, two ingredients was all that was needed, foxglove and chamomile at a high amount. I didn't expect to feel emotional about it but then again I'm making something that is going to kill my brother, but at least he won't be in any pain. I mixed it and boiled it on the stove. Emerald came through, she looked like she'd been crying. She stood across from me and said "how's it going? The recipe?" I looked at the pan and said "it's boiling nicely. I'll probably have to hypnotise him into this in case he struggles and refuses it." She looked surprised and raised her eyebrows and said as she walked over to me "I didn't know you could do that? What other abilities do you have?" I said listing them off "invisibility, and making people or other monsters forget things. I'm also pretty fast and strong so hunting is pretty easy for me, and like Ember I can exhibit poison from my tentacles, as well as pleasure, well you knew that already." She smiled then looked sad again, she walked over to the pan and checked the mixture , she said "it's ready. I just have to put it in a small cup and you can hypnotise him." I nodded , and walked through to Ember, he was asleep , Emerald got out a cup and poured the mixture into it and brought it through, I took it from her and looked at Ember, I shook him awake, before he could say anything I looked into his eyes and said "you will drink this mixture, and you will be at peace. Do you understand?" His eyes were wide so the hypnosis was working he nodded and said "yes I understand." The mixture had cooled down by now I put the cups rim into his mouth and he sipped it up, every last drop and swallowed. Emerald looked heartbroken, she ran off into the bedroom. I felt my eyes well up with tears I didn't fight them this time, I let them fall. Ember was not dead just yet it takes a few hours to kick in, I said to him knowing he could hear me, "I'm sorry for how I treated you before, I was just angry that's all because of you killing my first girlfriend. Even though I'm sure deep down you can understand it. Why I was angry. You'd feel the same way if I did it to Emerald, which I won't, I'll burn the world down to ashes before I let anyone hurt her. You have my word. I'll protect her and keep her safe, the way you tried and failed to, only I will succeed. I'll make sure of it. As much as I hate you for what you did, I partly fucking love you brother." He said his voice faint, "I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have killed her. Could you ever forgive me?" I looked at him my eyes had tears running down my face, my poor brother a slave to his own demons and temptations getting the better of him, I said my voice breaking with emotion and sadness "I forgive you. And I swear I'll look after Emerald." He looked at me suspiciously and said "you love her don't you? Admit it. It's ok." I hugged him close to me and whispered to him in his ear "More than she'll ever know. You were lucky to have her first brother. She's amazing." Ember smiled at me as I moved back down and stood up. He said weakly "treasure her Cole." I said firmly "I promise I will. Those bastard wolves won't see what's coming to them. I know her blood is valuable, it won't be spilt." Ember nodded and fell asleep.
