Chapter 1726

When she rolled over, the thugs already had her surrounded. They wore menacing looks as they bore down at her.

Her ankles were searing with pain and her body was drenched in sweat in an instant.

She looked at them with fear in her eyes and asked, “Did Aiden send you here?”

The leader of the pack stared at her and declared, “It doesn't matter who sent us here. We came here today to teach you a lesson so that you learn to watch your mouth in the future.”

He turned to his men and roared, “Hold her down and give her a good slap! Each one of you, give her ten good slaps and only stop after she learns to keep her mouth shut!”

He took a step back and let the men go to work.

Two of them came forward to hold Sherry down. Sherry saw an opening and jabbed the tip of her heels at one of them, then she tried to crawl away on her wounded leg while crying out for help at the top of her voice, “Help! Help!"

There was no chance she could outrun them, especially not on a wounded leg. It did not take long before they grabbed her again and had her pinned to the ground.

She continued to shout desperately, “Help! Help!”

“I'll kill you if you don't stop shouting!” One of the thugs cussed out loud and threatened her. Smack!

She felt a terrible blow across her face.

The brutal slap made her cheeks go numb in an instant.

She nearly lost consciousness but continued shouting like clockwork, “Help-"

“Damn it, I'm going to kill you now!” The thug slapped her again.

Sherry’s hands and feet were bound completely, she could not get away.

When she saw the hand about to strike her again, she closed her eyes and prepared for the blow. However, the slap never connected, and the terrible blow she was fearfully anticipating never arrived.

She opened her eyes slowly.

The thug who had slapped her was now being pinned to the ground with a foot on his back. It was Nelson, the bodyguard.

The other two thugs were cautiously backing away, no longer as intimidating as they once were. They were intimidated by the sight of Nelson and further discouraged by how their leader who they always held respect for was now pinned to the ground by Jason.

Sherry shuddered.

Out of nowhere, a figure came thundering in and delivered a swift kick to one of the two thugs, sending the thug flying away. After that, the man quickly approached Sherry and pulled her into his arms

Sherry was still shuddering, her head was spinning.

She was not expecting him to show up.

John wagered that she was traumatized by what happened. He frowned, and gently caressed the swollen side of her cheeks with his fingertips. “Don’t be scared, I'm here.”

Sherry immediately became irritated by the tone of his voice and shoved him away. “Out of my way.”

John grimaced and let her go.

She limped toward the thug who slapped her, then she turned to the bodyguard Nelson who was still stepping on him. “Nelson, get him on his feet.”

Nelson turned to John for permission. After John gave him a nod, he pulled the thug to his feet. The thug was completely terrified and stammered as he spoke, “Madam, I was wrong, please have some mercy on me.”

Smack!

Sherry slapped him as hard as she could on the face and spat, “Who are you calling madam?! Some disgusting and old hooligan like you has no right to call me that!”

Instead of getting upset, the thug began to apologize profusely. It would seem like he was used to getting hit throughout his life. “It was all my fault, I'm sorry, please forgive me, boss.”

Sherry scoffed, then she approached the leader of the thugs.

She turned to Jason who was also pinning the thug to the ground with his foot. “Get him on his feet.”

Jason did as he was told.

Although the leader seemed to have some strong words for Sherry, he realized that he was outmatched, especially when he saw how strong and imposing both Jason and Nelson were. He put on his best flattering smile and told Sherry, “Boss, I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble. See, I never knew that you had all these men working for you. If I knew, I wouldn't have taken the job even if I was paid double.”
