Chapter 1691

Sherry took a quick shower before snuggling in bed with Caprice.

Over the next few days, Sherry followed the same schedule. She would hand over Caprice to John in the morning before heading to work.

After she returned home from work around the evening, she would take Caprice back with

her.

John would join them and be in charge of making dinner for them.

After the meal, Sherry would help Caprice settle in for the night while John would clean up and leave without being prompted to.

This went on until Friday.

In the morning, Sherry handed Caprice to John after breakfast as usual before leaving for

work.

Work was not as hectic today, at least compared to the past few days.

She was done with her work around four and had nothing left to do for the day.

She grabbed her bag and prepared to call it a day.

Just as she was walking out of her office, she chanced into a group of her employees who were chattering about something and shooting sly glances in her direction.

The moment they saw Sherry stepping out of her office, they smiled teasingly at her.

Sherry immediately realized what had grabbed their attention. There was a tall figure standing at the other end of the office.

The young man had put on a royal blue suit adorned with a diamond enamel pin. His hair had been carefully combed and he wore a dashing smile, resembling a prince seen in fairy tales.

He held a bouquet of bright red roses in hand and looked at Sherry with an expectant smile.

Sherry was taken aback by this sight and quickly approached him, keeping her voice down to a whisper. “Carl, what are you doing here?”

Although everyone in the Sagers was informed about their engagement tomorrow, the two of them knew that it was nothing but a formal arrangement. Besides, what was the point of putting on such a display in the office of all places? Did he realize how much gossip this would generate?

“I haven't seen you for several days so I figured I'd pay you a visit,” he said as he handed the bouquet to Sherry.

Sherry did not want to stay here even a second longer, especially with there being a crowd gawking at them. She took the bouquet and quickly marched off.

Carl followed her closely and asked, “Sherry, where are you going?”

“I'm going home.”

“It's so early, what are you going to do at home?”

Before Sherry could form a reply, he squinted his brows in suspicion and said with a

wicked smile, “I see, you're going home to prepare for our engagement ceremony tomorrow aren't you?”

Sherry grimaced and ignored him.

Carl smiled and continued, “You don't need to worry about anything. Everything has been sorted out to perfection. All you need to do is show up tomorrow.”

He propped an arm over Sherry’s shoulder as he said this.

Sherry snapped. “Get your hands off me.”

Carl winced upon hearing this and remarked in an unkind voice, “Sherry, I'm about to be your fiancé. Would it kill you to be nicer to me?”

Sherry ignored him.

He of all people should know that their engagement was a farce. It was just an act they put on for the members of the Sagers.

After Carl took over the reins of the corporation, they would then announce that the engagement had been called off.

Carl looked at her wrathful expression, the excitement and jubilant mood in his eyes immediately deflated. He scowled and asked, “Are you going home already?”

Yes”

They had arrived at the underground parking lot.

Upon noticing that Carl was still following her, Sherry turned to him and said rather crossly, “Go find something else to do, stop following me.”

She opened the door and got into the car.

Within seconds, she had sped out of the parking lot.

Carl seemed bothered by such treatment. He got into his car and decided to tail Sherry.

Sherry’s house was only a short distance from the Sager Tower.

After passing several junctions, she was home:

Just like the past few days, she swerved into the lobby to her designated parking lot.

To her surprise, someone else had parked in her spot. It was a car with a giant heavy-duty car cloth draped over it.

Fortunately, there was an empty spot next to it which she proceeded to use.

By this hour, John was probably waiting for her at home alongside Caprice. She got out of the car and prepared to head upstairs, but was interrupted by two men that showed up out of nowhere and approached the covered car next to hers. Their movements were swift and coordinated.

They gripped the heavy-duty car cloth in unison and flipped it over to reveal the car underneath.

It was an expensive customized sports car, studded with bright pink gemstones that reflected brilliant rays of sunlight that could easily blind an unsuspecting individual.
