Carl noticed Sherry acting strangely and asked, “Sherry, what are you looking at?”

Sherry took a deep breath and brushed it off, “Nothing.”

She must have been mistaken.

That man was miles away in Glanchester. There was no way he would show up here.

Meanwhile, a car that was coming from the opposite lane that had just whizzed past Carl's car, the windows were rolling up and swiftly shut with a steady thud.

A man sat in the back seat and stared at the rearview mirror. It was John.

Inside the mirror, he could spot Carl's car driving away. With every passing second, the car grew smaller until it turned into a blip in the mirror before vanishing

Nobody spoke inside the car.

The driver and Jason sat in the front row.

Caprice was sleeping on his lap.

He continued staring intensely into the rearview mirror with an intense look, refusing to avert his gaze from it.

At one point, Jason asked cautiously, “Sir, should we chase after them?”

“No need. Take us back to the hotel.”

Just now, he had caught a look of horror on Sherry’s face. She must have been frightened by the prospect of meeting him here.

He decided to wait several days before meeting her.

He brought up another matter. “Have you investigated what's been going on recently with the Sager household?”

Jason answered promptly, “Our men are going through the findings now and will provide a report once they're done.”

"Alright, make sure to inform me at first notice.”

“Yes, sir.”

Sherry passed on drinking with Carl and had him send her back home instead.

She lived in an apartment a short distance away from the Sagers’ villa.

Upon returning to her apartment, she took a long shower to clear her mind. Then, she changed into her pajamas and threw herself on her bed.

It was a tranquil night, and she could hear the stark silence ringing in her ears.

She had trouble falling asleep. After tossing and turning in bed for a while, she reached for her phone and opened the photo gallery.

It was full of pictures of Caprice.

There were pictures of Caprice snoring like a piglet in her sleep, and there were shots of her smiling radiantly from when they went out playing. Most importantly, there were pictures taken of the two of them together, a pair of mother and daughter.

Sherry looked at each picture and carefully took them in.

Eventually, she fell asleep while scrolling.

Inside a hotel directly opposite the apartment in which Sherry resided, inside a presidential suite on the top floor, the lights in the study were turned on.

John was sitting at the desk, going through the report he had just received from his men. Everything there was to know about the Sagers was laid out in concise detail in the report. He had all the information concerning each member of the household as well as a brief of their relationship with one another.

After going through them, he went through the report on Sager Corporation.

It was discovered that Lisa was the one doing the heavy lifting, keeping the corporation above the water. And yet, she tended to be scorned by the family.

Over the last two years, Sherry had contributed greatly to the company's resurrection. There was an entire page dedicated to her countless contributions to the corporation. Everything she did make a huge difference and brought a huge positive impact on the corporation's finances.

John found himself grinning with pride as he read the statistics.

She was brilliant, as expected of his wife.

While he was engrossed in the report, there was a knock on the door.

“Come in."

The door was pushed open and Jason walked in.

John turned to his visitor. “What do you need?”

Jason reported hesitantly, “Sir, we just receive new information from one of our men. Word

is that Mrs. Sherry and Master Sager are getting engaged next month.”
