Violet POV 

The need to lean against him and melt in his b*dy was so strong that I had to clench my teeth to stop my mate’s attraction. It was a wonder that my teeth didn’t break. I tried to get out of the cage of his arms, but he didn’t budge. I was like an ant trying to move a muscle mountain. I sighed and gave up. “What do you want?” I asked, keeping myself in as much control as possible. 

“Will you go out with me for dinner?” 

I shook my head. “This was dinner, wasn’t it?” 

“Vi, I am being very patient with you, but patience is not my cup of tea. Patience is a pain in my ass.” He leaned over and k*ssed my nape. A shudder of desire ran down my spine and settled in my belly. I prayed. goddess to give me all the control she had distributed in werewolves. He didn’t stop and grazed the point where his mark would come before k*ssing me there. Suddenly, my back became too hot and something hard poked.

Pinching my chin, he lifted it up. Hist eyes flashed golden. “We can be anything but friends, Vi,” he said in a low, dangerous voice. “Or is it you have someone else in your life? Then I will have to kill that person.” I gasped. “Remember, Violet, there can be no one between you and me. If anyone tries to come, I am going to destroy him. You do not know how seriously crazy I am about you.” 

The idea of my mate being crazy about me was strangely arousing. I clenched my thighs, hoping to stop the juices from flowing out of my sensitive core. His nostrils flared, and he sniffed the surrounding air. “You are aroused!” 

I placed my hands on his chest and tried to push him away, but he grabbed my hands, his eyes glued to me. “It is getting pretty late,” I said in an unsure voice. 

He didn’t budge, still staring at me with an intensity that would melt me if I didn’t pull my shields back. “What about tomorrow?” he asked,

I shook my head as I pulled my hands from his grip and circled past him, but he grabbed my hands and yanked me back to his chest with my back against him. “My patience is thinning, Violet. Don’t play with me. It is a dangerous game. You will lose. If this is about someone else, I will find out about him, carve his heart out and drop it at your feet as my offering.” 

I gasped audibly. Who was I kidding? This was the strongest Alpha, and he was extremely dangerous. “I am not interested in any relationship other than with my son. You should leave.” I pulled away from his grasp and walked back to the living room. “You must leave. Hotel Exotica is pretty far away.” 

“I have moved into the house opposite to this one,” he said, coming behind me. 

I spun around sharply, my eyes wide in shock. So he was the rich dude Mimzy was talking about? 

You and Dave will be under constant surveillance by my wolves. 

“This is ridiculous!” Dane was so controlling that it was a pain in the butt, but then it came with being an Alpha. “I don’t need it and you. won’t do anything of the sort!” 

He shrugged. “Watch me. 

“You should leave!” I said, fury building inside me. I wanted to hide my son from him and he wasn’t letting me get out of his sight. Frustration added to my fury. “Just get out!” 

He dipped his head low, as if in a warning. A muscle feathered in his jaw. “I will come tomorrow,” he said and trudged to the door. Before opening the door, he said, “About that picking you as the Director of

the agency, it was purely on the merit basis. You are the best agent out there. Jason is using you for his advantage. Do you think that once he leaves the company, he won’t come with another one? He wants you to come with him only so he can use your intelligence.” 

It was a wonder that my mouth didn’t drop all the way to the floor as I watched Dane closing the door behind him. 

That night as I went to bed, I tossed and turned, wondering about what happened between us. The ache in my lower belly was so intense that I grew frustrated. I wanted to go to him and case my ache. In the middle of the night, I got up and walked to the window just to see the manor opposite to mine. Was he awake? Was he feeling as desperate as me? From the periphery of my vision, I saw a tall, massive black wolf sitting just outside the fence. 

I stumbled back, fear and surprise gripping me. 

Dave’s wolf growled as his golden eyes fixed on me. 

“F***!” I ran back to my bed. Dave was personally keeping guard on me. I had to do something to get away from my possessive and jealous 

mate.
