Not even two hours after the banquet at the Lewis residence, the news about the Lewis residence spread out one after 

another. 

It was published by the media about Harry: “Harry Lewis, a business tycoon, cheated on his wife again after his second marriage. Intimate photos with his lover were exposed in public!” 

Yvonne, too, made the headlines: “Such a slap in the face when Jipsdale beauty Yvonne Lewis, wearing a fake of the Vera brand, bumped into someone with the authentic one!” 

The news of Melissa, though, was hilarious: “A strip show played by Melissa Thompson herself during a birthday party shocked everyone!” 

In addition to their family making the news, Seth followed their steps. 

His news was publicized: “The CEO of Lewis Group, Seth Gomez, has gotten stuck in the bathroom owing to his upset. stomach! Click to see pictures.” 

Myriads of media reported the news related to Lewis Group one after another. Netizens watched the news happily as they bombed the comment section with their comments. 

“Harry had an affair again? Isn’t he billed as a model husband? Three days ago, he even said in an exclusive interview that he only loved his wife. What a slap in the face!” 

“That show turns out to be a joke now. But why does Melissa’s dance look like zombie dancing?” 

“I can’t believe that the daughter of a rich family still wears a fake dress. Goodness gracious! The world is crazy now!” 

“I think Mr. Gomez has had it the worst because of his tummy issue! Hahaha! I can even smell it from the screen! It’s disgusting!” 

Countless of them exchanged views on the internet. Meanwhile, in the living room of the Lewis residence, Harry was conversing over the phone with his subordinate. 

“Hurry up! Suppress all the news! No matter what means you use!” he fumed as he walked out of the living room. 

Just as he returned to the living room, he saw that Melissa was still sobbing. When Melissa saw him nearing, she yelled at him. “It’s all your fault! You made a fool of me!” 

She blamed it all on Harry. 

“Stop saying that. I’m not even better!” 

Harry was annoyed to the core. Melissa turned to her mother–in–law, Bridget, and cried a river. “Mom, Harry’s been keeping a mistress outside. Please do something!” 

“I said I didn’t!” Harry refused to admit it. 

“Harry said he didn’t. I believe he wouldn’t do that anyway. It must be those rampant reporters and their nonsensical reports!” Of course, Bridget would take her son’s side. 

Just then, Yvonne thought of something and uttered, “Mom, I also believe that Dad wouldn’t wrong you. In my opinion, there must be someone behind this! Otherwise, why would all of us get involved in that?” 

“Who could’ve done this, then?” 

Had Yvonne not mentioned this, no one in the family would have thought of it. 

As they gave more thought to the news on that very day when Harry’s affair was exposed, Melissa was also brought to the headlines for taking off her clothes in public, while her daughter, Yvonne, was exposed for walking out the door with a counterfeit dress. 

Even Seth couldn’t save himself from the embarrassment. He was locked in the bathroom and diarrhea almost got him killed. In the end, he collapsed and was sent to the hospital. 

They all had an incident to garner public attention. One of them, however, was safe and sound. 

All of them thought of the same individual in unison Caroline. 

“Could the culprit be Caroline?” 

As Melissa thought of Caroline’s face, a wave of fury erupted like a volcano within her heart. 

“I suspect it’s her. The second she came to the party, I could already smell her bad intentions. She must’ve come here today to get her revenge on us. It has to be her!” 

Chapter 27 

Yvonne also resented Caroline after she listened to what Melissa said. 

“That brat is too much! Let’s summon her. I need to get to the bottom of this!” 

Harry had no choice but to suspect that it was Caroline’s doing. Since she wasn’t burned to death in the past, he figured that she must have come to collect her debt from them. 

Just as the Lewis residence members were all in a fit of anger, Caroline entered the house and walked into the living room with a package, wearing a stern visage. 

“You don’t have to call me. I’m back already.” 

Hearing the noise, everyone raised their heads and saw Caroline, who was clad in black garments, appearing at the door. All of them stood up in astonishment. 

“Oh, Caroline! You came back just in time. My dad has something to ask you,” said Yvonne huffily, casting a sidelong glance at Caroline. 

Gazing at Caroline, Bridget didn’t appear amicable either. Likewise, the moment Melissa saw Caroline, a burning hatred. rose within her. If it weren’t for her image, she would have torn Caroline’s face apart. 

A question for you, Caroline. Were you the one who plotted a scheme to ruin your Aunt Melissa’s birthday party today?” was Harry’s interrogation. 

Melissa couldn’t help but shout angrily, “Caroline, just tell us the truth. Did you do it?” 

“Yup, I did it. So what?” 

Caroline was as calm as a millpond while giving them the answer. 

“It’s really you! Why… Why did you do such a thing? Do you know what you have done to me today? How am I going to face the world from now on? You wretched girl!” 

Melissa was so infuriated that she broke down in tears. 

Harry, in turn, hollered, “I didn’t expect you to do such a thing as soon as you came back, Caroline! You’ve dragged our whole family name through the mud! Why did you do that?” 

“Why? Why don’t you all tell me the reason? You should’ve known better!” 

Caroline stepped forward and slammed the urn in her hands on the coffee table. 

Thud! 

The coffee table was smashed into smithereens as the glass shattered and fell all over the floor. The urn, though, was relatively hard and didn’t break. 

Everyone was shocked by her action. Harry was furious as he scowled and said, “Hey, you brat… What are you doing? I haven’t done anything yet, but you dare smash my belongings? What are you up to? Are you rebelling against us?” 

The crowd glared daggers at Caroline while Yvonne huddled herself in the corner of the couch, screaming, “Ah! Dad, Mom, this is so scary… On… On the floor… I think that’s Aunt Lydia’s urn…” 

Yvonne had already caught a glimpse of the name and photo on the urn and recognized that it was Lydia’s photo. Yvonne was so frightened that her face paled to a ghastly white. 

“Oh, my God!” 

When Melissa saw the urn, she was also taken aback and went huddling together with her daughter. Colors were drained. from the faces of the mother–and–daughter duo. 

Harry, too, was startled, but at the same time, he became all the angrier. 

“What’s the meaning of this, Caroline? Why did you get your mom’s ashes back?” 

Bridget was so angry and knocked her cane against the floor. “You little brat! I’m not dead yet. How could you bring back. the dead’s ashes? Didn’t you know this would only bring bad luck?” 

Putting on a frosty countenance, Caroline scanned their faces before she sneered and uttered, “Obviously, I took it back here to let you people have a good look at it. Is it my mom’s ashes?” 

“What the hell do you want, Caroline? You’d better explain yourself! Why have you brought your mom’s ashes here for?” replied Melissa with questions instead, as she forced a calm demeanor out of herself. 

Caroline’s gaze was as cold as the winter and as sharp as a razor. “What’s the matter? Are you terrified by the presence of my mom’s ashes? Do you have a guilty conscience? You should start telling me how iny mom breathed her last.” 

“Your mom passed away because she heard that you had an accident,” explained Harry,

Melissa chimed in. “That’s right. By the time your dad and I rushed there, she was already gone with the wind” 

“Then what was the reason for my accident? Who tipped my mom off after my accident?” 

Caroline fixed her gaze on Yvonne as she said that. Yvonne felt extremely guilty, refuting. “Don’t look at me. It’s not me. I know nothing!” 

“We didn’t even utter a word about that. She heard the news from the people at the hospital herself” 

Harry pushed away all the responsibilities. 

Sadly, Caroline knew that she had no evidence at the moment, so it would be a wild goose chase to continue the argument. Blinking her sore eyes, she asked again. “Okay, I’ll ask you one last question. After Mom died, were you the one who brought her ashes to the columbarium?” 

“Yeah” 

Her father nodded at her. 

“Really? Did you bring her there on your own? Or have you tasked someone else to do it in your stead?” 

“No. No!” 

Unexpectedly, Harry was intimidated by his own daughter’s cold gaze. A chill began to run down his spine on that note. 

“Since you brought it there personally, why have you swapped all her ashes with lime? Where on earth did you put her ashes? Tell me!”
