Alexa shifted into her snow-white wolf, held the moonstone in her mouth, and marched towards Samara. She was a force to reckon with. Her anger towards Samara, her mates, and the entire situation was so immense that she charged at Samara with every bit of her strength.

Before Samara could realize what was happening, she was pinned on the ground by Alexa. Alexa didn’t waste a single moment as she knew Samara was way too powerful, and she had to catch her off-guard. Alexa placed the moonstone on Samara’s forehead and chanted the spell she had learned from Sybil.

" What the heck are you doing, mutt?” Samara screamed in confusion when she saw her hands turning into smoke. ” What is happening?” she thought in dread when she realized Alexa was trying to trap her again.

" NOOO...” she was about to unleash her power, but it was too late. By now, Samara’s entire body had disintegrated, and she got sucked back into the moonstone.

" Alexa...NO,” Axel saw her and raced towards her, but by the time he reached her, Alexa’s spirit had left Adele’s body.

Adele felt severe pain throughout her entire being, as if her soul had been ripped apart, and it was literally that in her case. She transformed into her human form and picked up the moonstone, which was glowing red for a few seconds, and then turned to its normal blue-white color.

" Alexa...” Adele clenched the moonstone in her palm and burst into tears. She couldn’t handle the pain anymore and lost consciousness. Axel took off his shirt, covered Adele’s naked body, and held her in his arms, hugging her unconscious body.

Chris and Liam fell to the ground clenching their heart when they felt extreme pain. The pain subsided after a few minutes, and both Chris and Liam looked at each other in confusion.

Everyone present in the Demon’s forest were dumbfounded as they couldn’t process what happened. Samara was nowhere to be seen, and a wolf had single-handedly tackled her.

Chris and Liam saw Adele and rushed towards her.

" Adele...” Chris approached her, but Axel growled, ” Don’t you dare.”

Chris ignored Axel and held Adele’s hand, looking worried. ” What happened? Is she hurt?”

Axel felt his blood boiling in rage. He gritted his teeth hard, and the next second, his fist had landed on Chris’s face. ” Get your filthy hands off my sister, you bastard!!!“.

Chris was shocked. The punch was totally unexpected. His confusion soon turned to anger, and he was about to retaliate but paused when he heard his wolf Conan’s troubled voice. " I-I can’t feel her.”

" What?” Chris asked, puzzled. ” Can’t feel whom?”

" Her wolf. She’s gone.”

Chris still didn’t understand what he was saying when he saw Liam standing there still like a statue. His wolf Lex had informed him that Alexa was not responding.

" What the f**k is happening?!!” Chris exclaimed in frustration.

Sera came running towards Adele and was shaken to see Adele unconscious. She glanced at Axel, whose eyes were wet, and asked, ” Did her wolf...?” Sera dreaded to say the rest of the words.

Axel nodded sadly, and Sera put a hand to her mouth in shock.

" We need to take her to the hospital,” Sera whispered, trying to hold back her tears.

Axel came to his senses and picked up his sister in his arms. ” Can you drive?”

Sera nodded, and they dashed towards their car.

Chris saw Axel taking Adele and intercepted him. ” Where are you taking her?”

" That’s none of your business,” Axel spat without even looking at him and continued walking at a fast pace.

Chris followed Axel and was right on his face. ” How is it not my business? She’s my mate.”

" Mate...?” Axel chuckled sarcastically. ” You don’t deserve to have a mate. Now get out of my way, or I will forget that you are my nephew’s father.”

Chris was stunned as well as angered listening to Axel speaking to him so disrespectfully. ” Don’t talk to me like that and give her back to me.”

" Over my dead body,” Axel seethed and moved on.

" You...” Chris was about to retaliate but halted when he heard Dalton’s voice. ” Please, Alpha. Let them go.”

Chris glanced at Dalton and scowled. ” What??!!”

Axel reached his car, placed Adele on the back seat, and sat beside her. Sera took the driver’s seat and drove off.

" Why did you let them go? I need to see if Adele is fine.”

" The Luna is not fine, ” Dalton stated with a hint of anger in his voice.

Chris was surprised at his reaction. ” What the f**k are you trying to say?”

By now, Liam seemed to have come out of his shock. He approached Dalton and asked, ” Do you know what’s going on? Did something happen to Adele’s wolf?”

Dalton avoided looking at his Alpha and Beta as he didn’t want to say something that he would regret later. For the first time in his life, he felt disgusted towards them.

" Why aren’t you saying anything?” Liam yelled.

" Luna’s wolf spirit has left her body,” Dalton gritted through his teeth.

Chris was baffled. “You are not making any sense.”

“To trap Samara in the moonstone, Luna’s wolf had to sacrifice herself.”

" What? Why would she do that?” Chris asked, appalled.

Dalton couldn’t hold himself anymore. ” To save your life, ” he spat. ” Because you wouldn’t believe your soul mate and help her, she had to do it alone. She had to sacrifice her wolf to save us all. I am sorry to say this, but you two are the reason for Luna’s condition.” Dalton took his leave before he could say something worse.

Chris and Liam were stunned. Dalton had never spoken to them in that tone, and they didn’t know what to say anymore.

After a few seconds of silence, Liam asked dreadfully, ” That’s not possible, right? How can her wolf leave her?”

Chris didn’t want to believe it too. ” I-I don’t know,” he stuttered. ” W-We must go and check on Adele.”

" You are right. I think Axel took her to the Silverlake Pack.”

Adele was in the Silverlake Pack hospital. Axel had explained everything that had happened, and his family was distraught. Aron looked like he was ready to kill someone and that someone was his daughter’s mates.

As if on cue, Chris and Liam entered at that exact moment, and Aron glared daggers at them. ” Why are you here?”

" How is she doing?” Liam asked, worried.

" You don’t have to pretend that you care. Get out of here before I smash your face,” Axel snarled.

Chris was about to retort, but Liam interrupted him. ” Please, Axel, we just want to know what happened to her.”

" You don’t deserve to know anything about her,” Aron seethed in anger, but his mate Ariel calmed him down. ” They need to know it, Aron. If not for anything but to know what damage they have done.” She glanced at Sera and asked her to talk to them.

Sera unwillingly approached Chris and Liam and took them out of the hospital. She explained everything in detail about the blood moon, how the three being connected through a bond would have helped to trap Samara, and the alternate option Adele was forced to choose because her mates didn’t trust her.

" I know you guys don’t believe me, but the proof is in front of you. Adele’s wolf is no longer with her,” Sera said sadly.

Chris and Liam felt like someone had thrown a bucket of cold water on them. They were literally speechless, unable to comprehend Sera’s words.

" I-Is her wolf dead?” Liam asked, scared to hear the answer.

" No, she’s not dead. Her spirit is trapped in the moonstone with Samara.”

Chris was furious with himself. He punched the wall in anger, and his knuckles were bleeding. ” This is all my fault.”

" You are not the only one; it’s my fault too. We were so stuck up in the past that we have destroyed our present with our own hands,” Liam whispered, feeling choked up.

Suddenly they heard Adele’s scream. They all tensed up and rushed towards the hospital.

When they entered Adele’s room, they saw she was still unconscious, but she was convulsing and grunting in her sleep as if she was in intense pain.

" What is happening to her?” Ariel asked the Doctor in panic.

" She is physically fine, but I think she is having a panic attack.”

Chris felt his heart back seeing Adele’s condition when he heard the evil witch’s voice in his head. " Get me out of here, Black. Get me out of here right now, or I swear I will ruin your mate. I will make her life a living hell, both the wolf and the human.”
