Chapter 18 The Ex–husband Is Nothing

Nancy’s footsteps came to a halt.

For a moment, she questioned whether she was still under the influence and hallucinating

How could Liam be here?

But as she observed the man’s icy expression and the intense gaze fixed on her, it became evident that he had come for her. He must have discovered her background through some

micans

However, since they were already divorced, there was no need for her to approach him. Nancy composed herself, continued along her original path, held her head high with an elegant posture, and maintained a strong and graceful demeanor.

“Stop.” A frigid voice emanated from the private booth.

Nancy appeared to ignore it and kept walking.

Suddenly, a sharp gust of wind seized Nancy’s wrist. Her bodyguard swiftly intervened, demanding, “What are you doing?”

The bodyguard swung his hand, but Liam intercepted it. As they were on the verge of a confrontation, Nancy calmly waved her hand, signaling the bodyguard to step back. Then she gazed expressionlessly at Liam and stated, “Sir, you’ve hurt me.”

He tightly grasped her wrist, and in all the time they had known each other, this was the first instance of physical contact.

After their divorce….

How ironic.

Liam regarded the woman’s cold and distant eyes, her once gentle and soft countenance now icy and distant. It was as if she had never known him, which left him feeling frustrated and angry.

“What game are you playing?”

Liam released her wrist, his tone chilling. “Who exactly are you?”

The assistant scolded discontentedly, “How dare you speak to Miss in such a manner?”

Nancy dismissively waved her hand and regarded Liam with no warmth in her eyes. Sir, do we know each other?”

Liam was taken aback.

She was claiming not to know him. Did their three years of marriage mean nothing?

He clenched his fists in frustration, feeling the urge to strike someone. His years of self- restraint were nearly overwhelmed by this woman’s provocation. He gritted his teeth. “You don’t know me, then what were you looking at just now?”

Nancy responded seriously, “I was admiring your handsomeness. Is it not permitted to appreciate something beautiful? Do I have to pay for looking at you?”

When did she become so sharp–tongued?

“Do you have any cash?”

Nancy turned to her assistant and inquired.

After rummaging in their pockets for a while, the two assistants could only awkwardly produce a fifty–cent coin and say, “We only have fifty cents.”

“That will suffice.”

Nancy accepted the coin and handed it directly to Liam: “Here’s fifty cents; no need for change.”

Then, she gracefully walked away in her high heels, accompanied by her entourage, exuding an aura of dominance. She appeared like a queen who looked down upon the world, never once turning back, showing no trace of nostalgia.

Liam stood in place, clutching the fifty–cent coin, feeling utterly disoriented. It was as if he had never known this woman before, yet her appearance couldn’t be mistaken, and the

Laughter echoed in his ears. Vincent, who had witnessed everything, stood at the elevator entrance, laughing so hard that he almost fell over.

Having known Liam for so long, it was the first time Vincent had seen him in such a defeated state.

While laughing, Vincent approached Liam with his arm draped over his shoulder and asked, “Are you sure this is the obedient and boring ex–wife you mentioned? Are you only

worth fifty cents?”

Liam clenched the fifty–cent coin, gritting his teeth, with veins popping on his forehead.

Vincent continued teasing, “But since you’re already divorced, it means you have no relationship anymore, right? Can I pursue her then? I have to say, she is really my type.” Before he could finish his sentence, Liam’s fist came crashing toward him. “Get lost!”

There is no way he would allow it to happen.

As soon as they got into the car, Nancy, who had been calm before, became restless.

She took out her phone and called Gary. “Gary, how did Liam end up at the Ocean Club?” “What did you say?” Gary, who was sitting in front of the computer, up to no good, was taken aback by her words. “Liam came to Southern City? And he came to my Ocean Club?”

“I just saw him downstairs, and we ran into each other.”

“What a small world, huh?”

Gary put on his Bluetooth earphones and tapped his fingers on the keyboard, accessing the surveillance footage on the first floor. He could clearly see and hear the encounter and conversation between the two people. Unable to hold back his laughter, he said, “You only gave him fifty cents. Look at Liam’s expression; it’s hilarious. He’s finally getting what he deserves.”

Nancy was annoyed by his contagious laughter and said, “Quickly find out why he came to Southern City.”

At this time, shouldn’t he be with his lover, whispering sweet nothings and enjoying romantic moments? How could he have time to come to Southern City?!

Could it be just for her?

Gary muttered through the earpiece, “Does he know Vincent?”

“Who?” Nancy frowned.

Gary looked at the surveillance footage of the two men standing close together and said. “The guy who touched your butt last night and got beaten up by you, then got vomited ont by you. It seems like he has a good relationship with Liam.”

Nancy’s eyes turned cold. “Did he reveal my location?”

“It’s very possible.”

Gary said, then operated the computer for a while and sighed softly. “Sure enough, the surveillance footage from the dance floor last night was hacked. Most likely, it was done by that guy, Vincent.”

I didn’t expect that guy to be skilled in computer technology too.

Nancy’s face grew cold. She didn’t know that Liam had connections with the Miller family in Basin City. After three years of marriage, he treated her like she was invisible and never introduced her to his friends.

“Last night was quite chaotic, and if it’s true that Vincent recognized you and secretly informed Liam, then Liam must have rushed over from the north city overnight.”

Gary analyzed for her and chuckled, “Could it be that after you left with nothing, this scumbag suddenly remembered your good qualities and wants to reconcile with you?”

Nancy’s eyelashes trembled, and she self–mockingly said, “Do you think that’s possible?”

“Not a chance.”

Gary shattered her illusion directly: “From what I know, there was a big scene at the Walker residence last night. Your former mother–in–law and Layla had a confrontation, and your ex–husband drove his mother away for his new love.”

Hearing this, Nancy’s heart sank again, and a mocking smile appeared on her face.

Liam was a filial person, but he could even go against his own mother for Layla. It’s evident how deep his love for her is. So, what did that make her, his ex–wife?

“If he really came for you, what are you going to do?” Gary asked.

Nancy pushed aside all the random thoughts in her mind and regained her calm and indifferent expression. “Since we’re divorced, it means we’ve gone our separate ways. I’ve been stubborn for three years, and I won’t be stubborn anymore.”
