Chapter 16 Investigating The Ex–wife

The alcohol consumed throughout the night had not been fully digested by the stomach before it was regurgitated onto the man without any reservation.

The scene could be described as “horrifying.”

Vincent couldn’t be considered a neat freak, but anyone who had been vomited on wouldn’t be in a pleasant mood.

After finishing vomiting, Nancy not only wiped her mouth with his tie but also burped, “Sorry, I couldn’t hold it in.”

Although she said “sorry,” there was no trace of remorse.

Veins bulged on Vincent’s forehead, and his pair of attractive eyes now turned as cold as knives, firmly fixed on Nancy.

This woman was simply too beautiful. However, her demeanor didn’t seem like that of a nightclub hostess at all, but rather like that of a wealthy lady.

Beautiful women always softened people’s hearts. Vincent sighed and gradually extinguished the anger that was rising in him.

Gary quickly stepped forward to support Nancy and looked at Vincent, who had been vomited on. “Sorry, my friend is drunk.”

The elevator door opened, and with Gary’s help, Nancy walked out. She turned back arrogantly and said, “Take off your clothes; I’ll compensate!”

“Enough, just go!”

Vincent also followed out of the elevator and watched Gary take Nancy into suite number 88. He couldn’t help but squint his eyes. That suite was the residence of the boss of the Ocean Club Hotel. It seemed that the young man was Gary White.

So, what was the identity of the woman?

He hadn’t heard that the White family had any daughters.

In the Walker residence, the study was quiet, and Liam was focused on dealing with work matters. The quiet room was only filled with the sound of flipping papers.

The impact caused by a document was more troublesome than he had imagined

The announcement of the marriage news directly affected their “One Life. One Heart” jewelry series. It was boycotted by the public. The solution proposed by the public relations department was either to postpone the wedding date and wait for it to pass or to continue promoting the love story between him and Layla. It would be best if they could the former wife to come forward and admit that she was indeed the mistress who intruded.

Liam frowned tightly. He hated mixing business with personal matters, and it was impossible for him to cooperate with them for publicity. Did these people from the public relations department think he was a lowly celebrity?

With a lift of his pen and a wave of his hand, Liam immediately wrote: Suspend “One Life, One Heart” series activities and quickly launch a new brand project.

Looking at the stock and fund situation. Liam’s eyes darkened. He dialed his assistant’s number and asked. “Has the final payment for the Western Medical Charity Project been

sent?

“Yes, it was transferred three days ago.”

“Get in touch with Mr. Wilson from the ‘Global Post‘; he knows what to do.”

“Understood.”

Liam worked the entire night.

Liam glanced at the time, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. It was already this late, and he still hadn’t received any news. Someone’s efficiency had decreased significantly compared to before.

As if telepathically connected. just as he was thinking about it, his phone rang loudly. He answered, “Hello.”

As soon as the call connected, before he could even question the person on the other end. they blurted out. “Hey buddy. I’ve been searching through the information you sent me all night, but your ex–wife doesn’t exist at all.”

Liam had considered many possibilities, but he never expected to receive this kind of answer. His eyebrows furrowed deeply. “What are you saying?”

Vincent stared at his computer, feeling frustrated. “Your assumption was correct. The surveillance system in your home, which covers a hundred–mile radius, was indeed

hacked, erasing any trace of your wife’s whereabouts. And it happened shortly after she left. All the information has been completely wiped out. However, if she is a real person, there should be some clues to find. It seems that your ex–wife’s identity was probably fake from the beginning.”

Liam’s eyes turned icy, and he tightened his grip on the pen. “Are you suggesting that all the information I provided is false?”

“Yes, all the information is fake. How can we possibly locate a real person with false information?”

Vincent didn’t dwell on the serious topic for long and began joking, “What kind of woman did you marry? She’s so mysterious. Could she be an alien or a ghost?”

Liam’s tone turned cold. “Vincent.”

“Alright, alright, no more jokes. If there were any photos, I could help you investigate further. I mean, you were married for three years, and you don’t even know anything about her. Even if the information is fake, the name might not be real either. And there are no photos. I’m starting to doubt if you were really married before,” Vincent babbled. “You’re about to remarry without even resolving things with your ex–wife. Have you thought this through?”

Ignoring his rambling, Liam stood up and walked to the master bedroom. He opened the bedside table and retrieved two marriage certificates. “Can we use the photos on the marriage certificates?”

“Send them over; let me give it a try.”

Liam didn’t hang up the phone and directly took a picture of the certificates, sending it

over.

On the other end of the line, Vincent’s laughter could be heard. “Your wife looks quite beautiful. She has the appearance of a virtuous wife and a loving mother. Wait, something doesn’t seem right. Why does this face look so familiar?”

Vincent enlarged the photo, then enlarged it again, and then zoomed out and zoomed in. “Just wait a moment; don’t hang up.”

He quickly transferred the photo to his computer, used photo editing software to crop out the bride from the marriage certificate, lifted her long hair slightly, cut it into a short hairstyle, and added some makeup. A bright and clear face appeared.

“Oh

my god!” Vincent was stunned.

Liam was puzzled on the other end of the line, but his heart raced along with Vincent’s reaction. “What’s wrong?”

Vincent swallowed hard and spoke into the phone, “I think I saw your ex–wife. She’s right here in the Southern City.”
