Girls Rule
Chapter 8: The Moon Goddess

Ace

“How are the rogues getting in?” I asked everyone.

“I don’t know alpha.” Mike mumbled as he looked at his twin brother.

“We have been changing the patrol routes and the members every day.” Wes said as he looked over his papers.

“Alpha?” Elder Edward asked.

“Yes?” I asked back.

“Do you think they have anything to do with it?”

I growled. “I don’t know. My trackers haven’t caught their scent since that day. They could possibly be apart of this. But there is no way to know for sure.”

“What if they are sending them our way to make us weaker?” Elder John suggested.

“What are you getting at?” Elder May asked kindly.

“If you think about it, it’s possible.” Elder John said. “They could be sending these rogues over to us promising them protection. This is a big group that we are dealing with. They are capable of anything.”

Elder Edward nodded. “They could be trying to weaken our defense. Cause a distraction. And once we are knocked off our feet, they came in for the final blow.”

“You’re on to something.” I smiled. “That is an excellent point. I mean if you think of about it. This group is smart and cunning. They have everything planned out and they don’t mess up. They think everything thoroughly and then attack. We can’t underestimate them.”

“What do we plan on doing?” Zylen asked.

I looked out over my pack and some gave me worried looks and others had furry.

“We will train harder. We will be more on guard. We will not let this group break us. We are stronger than that and I refuse to be overpowered.” I said as everyone clapped. “We will overcome this and we will win!”

“More wolves on patrol.” Colby stated.

Zylen nodded. “I want each patrol group to have at least one tracker to sniff out any hints or evidence.”

“Also. I want all the ambush teams in their positions.” I said as I looked at the girls.

“You got it alpha.” April, the leader of the ambush groups, smirked. “We will get these jackasses.”

I smiled proudly. “I’m very impressed with everyone today. Good job.”

‘I can feel their wolves. They are proud.’ Ava said happily.

‘They should be.’ I replied. ‘They are all good pack members and I should be the one that is proud. I couldn’t have done this without them.’

“I think it’s time to turn in. It’s late.” I said speaking up and getting everyone’s attention. “I want the groups at their posts tonight and take turns. We will start training early in the morning.”

Everyone nodded and bowed before leaving the pack hall.

“You think this will work?” Colby asked as she and Zylen walked over to me.

I nodded. “It has too. We really can’t do anything else.”

“Do you really think they are behind this?” Zylen asked.

I sighed as I looked out the window. “I don’t know. They might be, but they also might not be. No one can tell until we have evidence.”

“I think they are.” Colby said speaking up. “They are a smart group.”

I nodded. “They are.”

There was a long pause until Zylen spoke.

“How are you holding up?” Zylen asked as she looked at me carefully.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” I mumbled as I turned around.

“Well tough titties.” Zylen growled as she grabbed my arm and turned me around.

“Let me go.” I growled.

She let go slowly but still stared at me.

“You can’t keep shutting us out and bottling that up inside. It’s not good for you.” Zylen said.

“What do you want me to say?” I growled as I through my hands up in the air. “Yes! Okay. I fucking miss him. I regret rejecting him. But I can’t take it back. Once you reject someone, the bond is gone! It sounded like a good idea at the time, but now I think it wasn’t. I miss him so fucking much, but I shouldn’t. I should hate him for what he was trying to do. But I physically can’t.”

“See.” Zylen said with a sad smile. “You need to talk about it. I regret it too, but it was the right thing to do. Maybe it wasn’t, who fucking knows. I think we should all move on from this.”

I shrugged. “I don’t know right now. I’m going to bed.”

I didn’t wait for them to answer and I ran out of the hall to the pack house.

Maybe she’s right. But maybe she’s wrong.

I growled as I slammed my bedroom door shut and stomped to the bathroom.

After my shower, I changed into a long shirt and climbed into bed.

I clutched my pillow as I felt a tear drop.

It’s times like these that I wish my parents were still alive. They always knew what to do. Even if my dad didn’t, he always asked my mom and she had the right answer.

A small whimper came out and I was brought back to the time that they were still alive.

All the family picnics, the movie nights, them playing tag with me. I missed those.

And that is how I fell asleep. Crying and missing my parents.

I growled as I faced off the rogue.

“Ace.” He laughed. “You are all grown up.”

I growled at him. “And you still look ugly.”

He laughed. “I’m hurt.”

“You will be soon!” I yelled. “You’re the reason my parents are gone!”

“They had to go.” He smirked with a simple shrug.

“No they didn’t!” I yelled as I felt a tear run down my cheek. “They didn’t deserve that!”

“I needed that pack.” He growled. “But I couldn’t have it because the alpha blood line is still alive. I had it. I could have had it. But you had to run off with two other girls!”

I growled as I clenched my fists. “I should have stayed and fought with my parents.”

He nodded. “You should have. Because then I would have been able to kill you too.”

“When I see you, you’re dead.” I threatened.

He scoffed. “It will be the other way around dear. You will be the one dead. And I’ll be the next alpha of the Luna Pack.”

I charged him, but went right through him as he disappeared.

He is going down.

But a beam of light caught my attention.

I slowly turned around and covered my eyes as the light got brighter.

“What the?” I asked out loud as a figure stood in front of me.

“Hello Ace.” The woman spoke in a soft and comforting voice.

“W-who are you?” I asked as I took a step back.

The woman had a flawless face with white hair and light blue eyes. She was dressed in an all-white gown and had a gold band going around her head.

“I, sweet child, am the Moon Goddess.” She smiled as she walked towards me.

I gasped as I tripped over a branch and fell down on my butt.

“No need to be afraid.” She smiled as she struck her hand out.

I slowly grabbed it and she pulled me back on my feet.

“W-what are you doing here?” I asked quietly.

She laughed. “Well. I saw that you were dreaming and I thought I should pop by and visit with you.”

“Oh. Okay then.” I said uneasily.

“Let’s talk.” She smiled as she sat down on a bench.

Where the fuck did that bench come from?

“Come Ace. Sit down with me.” The Moon Goddess said as she patted the spot next to her.

I shrugged and sat down.

“What did you want to talk about?” I asked.

“Something happened a year ago and I don’t know why it did.” The Moon Goddess said as she gave me a pointed look.

I gave her a nervous chuckle. “Oh...um about that.”

“Ya. You want to tell me why you did that?” She asked as she crossed her arms.

I glared at her. “Did you see what he was going to do?”

She nodded. “Yes. I did.”

“Then why the fuck would you be mad that I rejected him?” I asked as I stood up.

“I made mates for a reason Ace. They are people who are meant to be with each other.”

“Except when they are trying to kill you!” I defended.

“Oh silly Ace.” She laughed.

“It’s not fucking funny! I could have died and he would have killed my pack!”

“That’s a little dramatic don’t you think?” The Moon Goddess laughed.

“I really don’t get how this is so funny to you.” I growled.

“I sent him your way.” The Moon Goddess smiled.

“Are. You. Fucking. Kidding. Me.” I said as I glared at her.

“I don’t kid when it comes to mates Ace.” She said with a straight face.

“So let me get this straight.” I said as I started to pace. “You sent a ruthless alpha my way to have my pack killed?”

She shook her head. “I made you guys mates. He wasn’t going to find you anytime soon. So I gave him a little push.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“He was looking for some land to have. I knew then that it was the perfect opportunity to help him find you. I normally don’t do that, but you six are special.”

“What are you trying to say?”

“Have you seen all your wolf forms?” She asked. “The six of you have the same markings as your mates. Others don’t have that.”

“He knew.” I said to myself.

The Moon Goddess nodded. “He caught on. You guys are meant to be. That’s why I did it.”

“Did what?”

“That group is out there. They are more ruthless as Deacon. They have to be stopped. So when I was making mates, I made it so the some of the strongest wolves were mates to each other. You six can stop this group. That’s why I made you guys mates. You six are perfect for each other.”

“Well I already rejected him, so...” I said as I looked away.

“Oh that’s funny.” The Moon Goddess laughed. “You think that you can get rid of him that easily.”

“But I rejected him.” I said confused.

“Yes. But you six are different. The mate bond will never die. You guys are still mates whether you like it or not. I made it so you guys can never reject each other. You might have said the words and felt the pain, but it didn’t do anything to the bond.” She said cockily with a smirk.

“That’s cruel.” I said.

She shrugged. “And your point is? You guys are mates whether you six like it or not. And I’m on his side.”

“His side?” I asked.

She nodded. “He is planning on coming over here and getting you back.”

I scoffed with a smirk. “Good luck with that. He will never make it passed my patrol.”

“That’s what you think.” The Moon Goddess winked. “Now it’s morning. You need to wake up so you can train your wolves.”

I was about to speak, but she already disappeared.

I gasped as I shot up in my bed sweating.

I looked outside and saw the sun shining bright.

I have a bad feeling about this.
