Fentanyl E001: The Mysterious Experiment(Book 1)
Chapter 26: Unyielding Resolve

Nisha's Point of View

The day we had been anticipating with both excitement and anxiety had finally arrived. It was the day of the intense battle, set to take place at Green University in Ottawa. As the time approached, the tension in the air was palpable. Daddy Truce was still missing, but he had assured us that he would join us at the university later to offer his assistance. While I was relieved to know he would be there, I couldn't help but worry about his safety.

Suddenly, the door to my room swung open with force, and six individuals entered, led by Nathalie, whose nervous demeanor surprised me.

"What's going on? Isn't the fight scheduled for later?" I asked, glancing at Shawn, who seemed equally concerned.

Nathalie's words left me in shock. It seemed that Grandpa had already initiated his deadly plan, and his soldiers were targeting anyone they encountered in Ottawa City. My heart sank at the thought of the innocent lives that might have already been lost due to Mr. Shon's greed and depravity.

Feeling a surge of determination, I clenched my fist. I had made a vow to myself to protect those I cared about, and I was not going to let Grandpa's cruel intentions go unchallenged.

"We need to be ready. Let's start the battle as soon as possible. If this is what he wants, then I'll give it to him," I declared with a steely resolve, walking over to my cabinet where our weapons were kept - samurai swords, shurikens, chains, and knives.

"Are you sure about this?" Shawn asked.

As I removed my artificial eyes, revealing my black and empty pupils, Rebecca was taken aback and fled from the room. I knew my appearance could be unsettling, but I had no time to dwell on it.

The clock showed it was still four o'clock, and there was time before the battle at Green University at seven o'clock. Mr. Shon's actions and plans were infuriating me. He was using my flaw against me, thinking I was weak. I wanted nothing more than to take him down without mercy for all the pain he had caused.

Shawn, sensing my anger and determination, spoke up, "Don't go at it alone. I'll inform the others right away."

I nodded in agreement, and they both turned to prepare for the impending battle.

The sounds of misery and cries of the helpless were echoing in my ears, fueling my rage. My stomach churned with anger as I heard the suffering around us. I pulled out my sword from my bag, contemplating the thought of using it to stab Mr. Shon in the heart. But I knew I had to remain focused on the battle ahead.

After thirty minutes, we all gathered in the meeting room. They asked me to enter first, knowing I would find a way for us to get there efficiently. Despite my seething anger, I kept my silence, hearing the cries of the victims in my mind. The desperation of parents trying to protect their children and the lives being lost fueled my determination to put an end to Mr. Shon's cruelty.

As we entered the conference room, I could tell they were aware of my mood, but they didn't interrupt my silence. Everyone was ready to go except for Daddy Truce, who seemed unaware of the impending conflict. However, I couldn't allow innocent lives to be ambushed. I couldn't bear the thought of the suffering I was hearing in my mind - the cries of desperate mothers searching for their children, the fear, and the loss.

Shawn confirmed my concerns, and I was relieved that he understood the importance of protecting the city's residents. They were not part of the conflict, and I was determined to be their guardian angel, keeping them safe at all costs.

Suddenly, I heard the voice of a mother searching for her daughter, and it was too much to bear. I couldn't stay in the meeting room any longer. I knew I had to help her, so I ran without thinking. Shawn followed me, and together, we fled the meeting room to assist the desperate mother in her search.

As I rushed towards the tree where I sensed my mother and daughter were in danger, someone tried to stop me, but I was determined. My senses were heightened, and I moved with ninja-like agility. I leaped and hurled a poison knife without hesitation, not letting anything block my path. I knew Shawn was close behind, but I also knew that Mr. Shon's men were waiting for us.

As I reached the market, I could hear the desperate sobs of the mother searching for her daughter. The sight of blood made my anger boil, but there were no bodies, and no sign of the black-clad men. Confused, I scanned the area for any signs of danger when a voice caught my attention.

"Help! Somebody, please help us!" The voice was desperate and filled with fear. It was coming from a hidden corner of the market, and without a second thought, I sprinted towards it. I found the mother and her daughter huddled together, surrounded by debris, their faces covered in dirt and tears. They were safe, but terrified.

"Angela!"

I sprinted as hard as I could, utilizing my invisibility to approach the corner of the house where the mother and daughter were cornered. Two black-clad men were attempting to stop them, and the daughter was crying silently while the mother looked terrified.

Without hesitation, I saw one of Mr. Shon's men poised to stab the child, and I quickly hurled my small knife at them. The blade found its mark, and the man fell to the ground, stabbed in the chest. The mother screamed in horror at the sight, and the remaining black-clad man tightened his grip on her.

I dashed towards them, and the man turned his head to face me, but it was too late for him to defend himself. With a swift move, I incapacitated him, and he fell to the ground, lifeless. The mother shuddered at the sight of the decapitated man, and I took a moment to catch my breath.

Just then, I heard someone calling out, and I turned around to glance behind me.

"Nisha!" I heard Shawn's voice as he ran in my direction. His clothes were stained with blood, indicating that he had probably been in a fight with Mr. Shon's men. But my attention quickly turned back to the mother and daughter.

They were huddled together, their clothes torn and wounds visible, yet they seemed to disregard their injuries as they silently cried. The woman appeared to be in her mid-40s, and her daughter looked around 7 years old from my observations. They had no shoes, and their hair was unkempt.

As they looked at me, the mother suddenly stood up and hugged me. I was momentarily at a loss for words. It was only the second time in my life that I had been hugged by a mother.

"Thank you," she whispered, and I gently patted her shoulder to convey that it was no big deal.

This is my responsibility. I have the capability to save someone's life, so why not do it?

I gently released myself from the mother's embrace. When I turned around, I noticed Shawn looking at me, his expression filled with concern. I can't blame him for feeling that way, but I can't ignore my instincts either. My heightened senses are guiding me, and I'm acting on them.

"Shawn," I took a deep breath and looked directly at him. "Take them to the safest place you can find," I said, trying to sound serious so he wouldn't object, but I was mistaken. He remained silent for a long moment.

I sensed that someone else was approaching, and I recognized them well. I also noticed five people running towards us, appearing breathless, just like Shawn did earlier. They must have encountered Mr. Shon's men too.

"We'll take care of them," Nathalie stated firmly, leaving me with no choice but to agree. Christopher carried the child, and Nathalie hugged the mother. I saw the woman smile and look back at me with gratitude.

I simply shrugged and met Shawn's gaze. He was looking at me intently, making me feel uneasy. I tried to find something else to focus on to divert his attention, but I couldn't find any opponents nearby. Annoyed, I turned back to him.

"Stop staring at me!" I said, my frustration evident in my voice. My legs were trembling from the adrenaline rush.

He took a step closer and pulled me into an embrace, silencing me. I remained speechless as he held me.

"You make me terrified," he confessed softly.

"I know, Shawn," I replied to him mentally, making our conversation private. "I won't make the same mistake again. If it comes to you, I'll be there to assist. But right now, we're in the midst of the conflict," I conveyed my thoughts to him.

He didn't say anything and held onto me tightly, preventing me from getting away. I understood his concern, but I needed to focus on the task at hand.

"Shawn, let go. We need to keep moving," I urged him, indicating that we had to be on the move. He had an arsenal of weapons with him, but now wasn't the time to be distracted.

"Let's go," he said softly, still gripping my hand tightly.

As we tried to find a way to get to Ottawa Green University, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. There were no dead bodies, which made me suspect that Mr. Shon might have ordered them to be brought inside the institution. I needed to be alert and prepared. Passing out at this critical moment was not an option. People were relying on me, and if they were to lose their lives, they deserved a better place than inside the bloodied halls of Greenhills.

Mr. Shione and Tita Asuncion were together when we spotted them. Mr. Shione tapped Shawn on the shoulder, attempting to relay a message in a more cheerful manner.

I let out a sigh of relief, but then Shawn grabbed my arm, causing me to stop. When I turned to face him, I was taken aback when he kissed me on the lips. My pupils dilated, and my eyes widened in surprise. It was just a gentle kiss, nothing more, but it left me breathless. He didn't even move his lips, just stared at me with so much love in his eyes before pulling away.

"I'm not sure what the future holds," he hesitated, "but believe me, my love and my heart will always be yours," he said, and I nodded like a fool, still trying to process what just happened.

He tugged me to follow Mr. Shione, and I simply allowed him to lead me. I was still stunned by the unexpected kiss. My heart was racing, and I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by his words and gestures.

As we stepped onto the field, the horrifying reality hit me like a ton of bricks. My worst fear came true; I was correct. All of the bodies were lying on the ground before us. A hundred lifeless forms, scattered across the battlefield.

I couldn't hold back my emotions any longer. I yelled in anguish, and tears streamed down my face as I cried out in rage and sorrow. The sight was overwhelming, and the weight of the tragedy pressed down on my heart. So many lives lost, so much pain and suffering.

My body trembled with grief and anger, but I knew I couldn't let myself be paralyzed by it. We were here to fight for the safety of the people, to protect them from further harm. The battle was far from over, and I needed to stay focused, to channel my emotions into strength and determination.

With a deep breath, I wiped away my tears and steeled myself for what lay ahead. This wasn't just a fight for revenge; it was a fight for justice, for the innocent lives lost. I would honor their memory by giving my all in this battle, by ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain.

I looked at Shawn, his face mirroring the same pain and resolve. Together, we walked forward, ready to face whatever awaited us on this blood-stained field. Our love and our hearts united, we would fight for a better future, not just for ourselves, but for all those who couldn't fight for themselves.
