Cyber Love
Chapter Fourteen

Me and Damien were in our office, the pair of us glued to our computer screens. I was editing an intro for a new game and Damien was deep in thought for the music. I definitely believed we would be doing a ten hour day. Neither of us minded, this was our lives really. My phone was next to my mouse and I jumped as it vibrated. My smile was huge as I looked down and saw Zeke’s name. Damien was in his own world as I answered.

"Hi."

"Baby, I got some good news." His voice was high and it made me giddy.

"You got your transfer?" I asked, nearly jumping from my seat.

"Oh no, not that good news," he laughed, my heart dropped for a moment but his laughter still made me smile. "I spoke to probation yesterday, had one of their bullshit meetings." I rolled my eyes as he spoke. "They said I can go to London for the evening for Liv's thing. I have to come back the next morning and sign at my local police station but I can come baby!" His voice was still high and I did a little dance in my chair. Damien looked up at me and gave me a huge smile.

"Oh!!" I cried. "Are you serious?" I was giggling like a maniac. He could come with me? I will see him in two weeks? My heart was full that he had spoken to them. He did give a shit.

"Deadly! So I'm thinking," he chuckled, flirting full on. "We should book a hotel right? Like near the place". My face was hurting from my smile. Zeke was actually excited.

"It's about an hour away from my place," I told him.

"Nah fuck that." I laughed at his words. "That's an hour wasted. Text me the postcode and I'll book a hotel. We can pretend to be fancy".

"Thank you." I whispered.

"Thank you?" He laughed.

"For sorting it, it means a lot". My voice was still low.

"Of course, for you I would! I told you I was going to speak to them but you wanted to get all grumpy on me." I scoffed.

"Whatever. Thank you anyway".

"I have to go back to work but text me the postcode. Have a good day baby."

"You too," I said as I put my phone back on my desk. I looked up to Damiens face, he had taken his headphones off and was smiling at me.

"So, it's going well," he smiled. I nodded, my mouth opening to talk. I stopped and Damien put his head to the side. "What is it?"

"Can I ask you something?" I crinkled my face. Damien just nodded, getting comfortable in his chair. I was silent for a while and Damien jumped in.

"You have a nagging feeling?" He asked me, like he had a crystal ball. I nodded. "Because how you met?"

"No. Not at all, I really like him, Damien. Like super like him, he just has a lot going on".

"Like what?"

"He" I stopped. Did I want to tell Damien this? As I looked at his friendly face I took a deep breath. "He sees probation."

"What like prison probation?"

"Yeah. And he can't come to London, I think he has other restrictions. I don't know." I shrugged.

"What's the issue though? In the back of your head" he asked me.

"I don't even know". I put my head in my hands.

"What did he do Sash?" There was worry in Damien's voice.

"He sold drugs."

"That's it? All he did?" I looked up at Damien, a light bulb going in my head.

"I think that's my issue. It seems he has a lot of shit he can't do and I don't know". I breathed out, my hand going through my hair. "What if it was worse? I'm not a police officer but it seems like a lot for a bit of drugs". I shrugged.

"You're not a police officer, you are right. But do you have any other reason not to believe him? Why would he tell you half the truth?" I nodded, he was right. "What else can't he do?" I didn't even know and I felt stupid for even bringing this up.

"He has to be in employment, can't leave Manchester."

"Poor guy," Damien joked and I started laughing.

"He said to me the other night he has to do what they say or he will go back to prison".

"Fuck, Sash." Damien blew out. "It sounds like you're worried about him".

"Yeah, I am".

"Tell him that then you doughnut. The real question is can you handle this? When he comes to London he still has to see probation?"

"I think so, I don't know how long he has". Damien laughed and it made me smile.

"You don't know anything Sash! Talk to the fucking guy". He was still laughing. "I mean it, just ask him. He won't get funny with it, will he?"

"No," I mumbled. Damien shook his head, still chuckling.

"If you like him Sash then you should be able to talk to him. You have to figure out if it's something you can deal with. It won't be forever". He smiled at me and I nodded, putting my headset back on.
