Chapter 28

Even though Theo had asked her to spend whatever amount of money she wanted to, Carmine thought she shouldn’t. It wasn’t her money, and she didn’t want to be labeled as a spendthrift.

They entered a shopping center that sold household items. The salesman immediately greeted Scarlet with a grin.

“Miss Scarlet, it’s so nice to see you here!” he said, clasping his hands together and looking curiously at Carmine. “What can I do for you?”

“Hi Tony,” Scarlet waved at him boringly. “This is Carmine,” she said. “And she is here to buy items for the omegas of the manor.”

Tony jerked his head back in surprise because most of the time it was Scarlet who was buying from him. But he recovered and smiled at Carmine. “What would you like to buy, Carmine?”

“Hi Tony, show me trash baskets, water filter, lamps, door size mirrors and…” she looked around. “I will let you know more as we go.”

“Sure.” Tony couldn’t help his excitement as he led Carmine to an aisle at the end.

As she pointed out things to him and ordered them in bulk, Scarlet kept a hawk eye on her movements. Whichever item Carmine picked, Scarlet gave her snide remarks about them.

“It is not my place to say anything, Carmine, but it is very cheap and cheap things get spoiled quick.”

“Well, Alpha Theo won’t like it if you buy lamps that won’t last a season.”

“This rug is so plain that omegas won’t even like to use it.” Making a very sad face, Scarlet added, “We are very low in the hierarchy, Carmine, but we all have our dignities.”

“Alpha Theo would have never bought those mirrors. They are way too thin and if the carpenter fixes them in our doors, they will cr ack.”

Carmine took a deep breath and kept quiet.

Seeing that she wasn’t answering to her, Scarlet left her and strode out of the shop to go and went to sit in a coffee shop. She took her phone out and called Charlie. “Goddess, do you know she is buying cheap stuff for all of us?”

Charlie was confused, “Is that good or bad?”

“That is disgusting. What the hell does she think we are? You know what-Carmine is trying to show us our place. Just because she is sleeping on the same floor as Alpha Theo, she thinks she is an Alpha! I wish there was a way to show her the right place.”

“Scarlet, I can’t believe it. What do we do?” Charlie replied.

“What can we do?” Scarlet said. “We will tell all the omegas what Carmine is trying to do to us.

am sure once they understand how clever she is, they will hate her. Just tell them the truth and they will thank me later once I will lead them to complain against her to Alpha Theo.”

Charlie chuckled. “You are very smart, Scarlet. Wait till I spread it!”

Satisfied that she had trapped Carmine, Scarlet walked back to the shop and saw that Carmine wasn’t there. “Where is she?” she asked Tony.

“Oh, Miss Carmine has already left!”

Carmine walked around with Tony for a little while to order more items and returned to the car. She waited for Scarlet to come and as soon as she came they drove back to Alpha’s house. Carmine got busy as she went to get Thor from his school, and then. Joseph came along with selected items. According to Theo’s instructions, she arranged her creations in the small space that was just outside the main house. It was actually a kind of outhouse but was usually vacant. This side was void of visitors as the serv ant quarters were behind the manor. However, Carmine noticed that Alpha Theo had assigned six guards to the place.

“G od, this man is rich!” Joseph said as he put the last piece of dress on the shelf.

She chuckled. “He is. But I am here only for a week at the most.”

“Yeah, you told me, but who is this Kade Marshall who is against you?” he asked.

Carmine rolled her eyes. “Don’t ask. He is my nemesis.”

Joseph laughed. “Well then, you better stay in the manor. Don’t be so adventurous. You shouldn’t have gone to the market today.”

“Ah! Theo sent his b*dyguards with me, so…”

“Bodyguards?” Joseph’s mouth dropped to the floor. “Exactly how rich is he?”

Carmine shrugged. “Not my business to-”

Suddenly, the door opened and Ga mma Tusker came in. “There’s something very important going on. Some omegas have accused you of misappropriating funds assigned to them.”

“What the hell!” Carmine frowned. Gritting her teeth, she asked Joseph to stay back as she went back to the main hall. Over there, she couldn’t help rolling her eyes when she saw Scarlet in the same teary state.

“Please Alpha, don’t say anything to Carmine. She really wanted to help us, but at the risk of being scolded, I had to point it out to you that the household items she bought were of inferior quality.” Scarlet sniffled. “I tried to talk her out of it, but she wouldn’t listen. And now the treasury just called me to inform that someone withdrew a large amount of money and the withdrawal doesn’t match the cost of items she bought. I calculated it.”

Shock rippled through Carmine, but she contained her emotion as Scarlet’s true colors were showing.

Alpha Theo was sitting on the sofa with one ankle over his other knee, in deep thought. “Do you have the bill?” he asked Scarlet.

“No, but I have asked the office to send it as soon as possible.”

“Where are all the items I ordered?” Carmine asked, crossing her arms across her chest, with narrowed eyes.

“They will soon come,” Scarlet replied. After she had returned from the shop, she had called Tony to send her the bill. Half and later, she ordered him to send everything cheaper than what Carmine had ordered and print another bill. But she submitted the first bill to the treasury. They released immediately the money, and she pocketed the excess. She couldn’t help feeling proud of her plan. Because of Carmine’s stup idity, not only was she richer by several thousand dollars, she accused Carmine of stealing that

money.

A truck pulled in

wide smile on his face. He bowed to Alpha Theo and said, “Miss Carmine has an excellent choice, Alpha Theo.”

Scarlet stifled a snort. “Can you unload two or three items and show them to us?”

“Of course!” he said and ordered his wolves to unload a few items.

When the boxes opened, Scarlet sauntered to them and picked out a lamp. Without looking at it, she held it high and pointed it out to Alpha Theo, “You can now see the quality of these. We are omegas Alpha Theo, but I didn’t know that we would be treated. so poorly. You’ve always been so generous to us. I know it is not your fault that you trusted Carmine and I don’t blame her also, but honestly, this is not what any of us expected.” She wiped her tears, ready to give the final blow. “We all really respect you a lot, Alpha, and we will gladly accept whatever you give us.” This last statement was going to make her so popular.
