Chapter 27

Upon hearing the commotion, Carmine thought of going to Scarlet’s room but she hesitated. From where she stood, she could see that a few omegas had gathered in front of her room in the corridor that led to it. They were all murmuring something about how unfortunate she was despite doing so much for the pack. They tossed their gaze over Carmine and gave her looks filled with fresh disgust.

Carmine took a sharp breath in and started to leave, but as soon as she turned, she saw Beta Winn standing there with another wolf. “You look lovely, Carmine,” he said with a smile on his l*ps and worry all over his face as he glanced at the corridor.

“Thanks,” she blushed slightly, looking at her pale blue dress that was her own creation. Carmine wanted to go to her boutique, but since that wasn’t possible, she was going to ask Alpha Theo to help her bring her stuff here.

“This is Gam ma Tusker,” he said, pointing his chin to the man standing beside him. “He will help you bring all your boutique stuff here.”

“Oh!” It surprised Carmine that her wishes came true even before she told them to Alpha Theo. She wasn’t sure if he remembered their conversation in the library. “That would be lovely. Joseph is going to help you-”

A loud cry punctuated their conversation.

“Is everything okay?” she asked Winn while peeping at the omegas in the corridor.

“I don’t know,” he replied and pursed his l*ps. My schedule is packed because I have to train a few warriors. I have to go to the packhouse.” Winn strode away along with Tusker, leaving her alone. She started towards the dining hall when she heard a loud crash in Scarlet’s room.

“Scarlet!” a girl shouted. “What are you doing? Do you want to die?”

Loud cries came again and even though Carmine wanted to avoid the situation, she walked to Scarlet’s room. Her room was a mess. To Carmine’s horror, she discovered many shattered and broken things. It was as if a tornado had passed through her room. Scarlet was holding a porcelain statue in her hand and was about to smash it when she stopped seeing Carmine at her door. Blood ran down her wrist and all the omegas were looking at her with sympathy.

“Just look at her audacity,” said one of them in a low voice, looking at Carmine. “She’s just come to the manor and got the best room on the second floor.”

Η

“I swear,” said the other one. “She must have used her charms.”

“In the bed,” added another, and a low chuckle followed.

“And look at poor Scarlet. She’s been here for so many years and yet she was given this. ugly room with outdated furniture. It’s so unfortunate. She is the one who deserves the room next to Alpha and not her,” someone sneered.

“Stop it!” Scarlet shouted at them. “Please say nothing about Alpha Theo and how he chooses to do things.” Then she looked at Carmine and sniffled. “I am so sorry, Carmine. They just love me too much.”

Carmine felt terrible at first, but then when her eyes went to a girl standing next to Scarlet, she frowned. Why was the girl smirking?

“This is Charlie,” Scarlet introduced her. Charlie crossed her arm as she blew a strand of hair from her face and glared at Carmine.

It wasn’t difficult for Carmine to understand that Scarlet was getting jealous of the fact that she was in this room while Carmine was in a luxurious room. And so the drama. Perhaps Charlie was part of the drama. Carmine averted her gaze from Charlie and said. to Scarlet, “You are injured. Please go to the pack’s hospital for treatment.”

Scarlet looked at her wrist and shook her head. “It’ll be okay in a few hours.” She went to sit on her bed and fresh tears poured from her eyes.

Thrown in an awkward position, Carmine just didn’t know how to console Scarlet because the reason she was crying was not in her control. Every omega who was standing there hated her with renewed energy. What she had done to Scarlet in the morning, was hastily undone. She knew that if she didn’t take any action right now, she would end up on every omega’s hate radar. But how could she salvage this situation? Either she exited now or the matters got worse while she was here.

Suddenly, a growl behind her made her jump. Alpha Theo was standing at the door. All the omegas, including Scarlet, quickly lowered their heads and inclined their n*ecks in submission. Why didn’t she feel like inclining her n*eck even though Alpha Theo’s alpha aura was spilling out?

“What is happening?” he growled, disliking the fact that his mate was being surrounded by so many hostile omegas.

“N-Nothing, Alpha,” Scarlet/stuttered.

Carmine came up with a quick plan. In a soft voice, she said, “It seems that everything. in Scar’s room is outdated. If it is okay with you, can I take Scar to the market and buy new things for her room? Not only that, if it is okay with you, I will check the omega quarters and buy necessary things for them.”

Scarlet rushed to Theo and grabbed his hand. “Oh, no, Alpha Theo. That’s not what I

want. Carmine has misunderstood me. I am thrilled with my room. You don’t have to spend a penny on an omega like me or on others. All of us are happy with what you’ve given us. Really. We don’t want to burden the Gold Moon treasury so much.”

Theo removed her hand from his and brushed it on his shirt as if removing dirt. “Don’t touch me again,” he warned her.”

She blanched. “Sorry,” she squeaked.

He turned his attention to Carmine. “Do what you want to, Carmine,” he said in a low, throaty voice, making her blush again. “Do you want me to accompany you to the market?”

“No.”

Scarlet fumed. This was her situation. She should be the heroine, not Carmine. So she jumped in. “But why should Carmine spend money? I am perfectly fine. All this mess is the outcome of my mood swing.” She lowered her eyes and batted her eyelashes. “I think my heat is coming.” That was also the best way to entice a male wolf.

Again, Alpha Theo ignored her completely. “Come Carmine, let’s have breakfast. After that, you can take Scarlet to the market. And don’t worry about money. I want my omegas to benefit. I am happy that you are so thoughtful about it.” Proud filled his chest. His mate was the true Luna.

“Thank you, Alpha Theo,” Carmine rewarded him with a smile and his favorite pink blush.

As soon as Alpha Theo announced he would spend whatever money Carmine wanted for Scarlet’s room, every omega out there gaped at her with awe and respect. She had done something that no one else did before. Even Scarlet never requested Alpha to buy things for them. Once again, Carmine’s reputation went high. This time it shot higher than the last time. Tables turned 180 degrees.

As Carmine walked out of the room, Theo followed her, and Scarlet was left alone with Charlie furious as hell. The whole drama was Charlie’s plan in which they both broke some of her old furniture and utensils to show that she was living so poorly while Carmine enjoyed all the luxuries even though she just came a day back. The plan worked initially, and she took advantage of it by putting down Carmine in front of the omegas and Alpha Theo. However, it backfired when Carmine offered generous help to all the omegas.

Now Scarlet couldn’t even back out. If she didn’t go, the other omegas were going to call her conceited, and if she went, Carmine would emerge as their new heroine.

“Scarlet we should-
