Chapter 14

Today is my birthday!

And I don’t feel great. When I woke in the morning, I felt sick, and I was hearing voices in my head. It was always the same sentence.

We can’t go today!

Mom and dad was setting the garden outside for the party because it was 5 o’clock and dad said the party started at 6.

I told my parents that I didn’t want to go out of the castle for my party.

Dad was happy about it, but mom said that I should go so I agreed.

Summer wants to take me out to a club, again, because she said that everyone wants to go.

I’ll go to the club with them but then I’ll just come back home.

“Ace?” I was in my room alone and hoped Ace came.

I was already ready for the party in my white dress, and red heels, with my make up natural but red lipstick and red wedges.

“Your majesty?” He appeared infront of me and I sat up on my bed.

“Will you be there today?” I asked and he nodded sitting down on my chair.

“I have to. Just in case something happens” he smiled and I nodded

“I’m sorry Ace about that other day at the club. I shouldn’t have-”

“It’s okay Mia.” He said just as my door opened and Tyler walked in.

Everytime I see Tyler, I feel different. A good different.

“Do you need something Tyler?” I asked raising my eyebrow as he looked at Ace.

From Summer’s experience I have gathered that nobody can see Ace.

“Who is he?” Tyler asked closing the door behind himself and looking at Ace.

“You can see him?” I stood up

“I can see goasts Mia” Tyler stood in front of me

“Wait! Ghosts?” I turned Tyler around as Ace took a deep breath.

“Mi-”

“So you’re not a wizard. You lied to me?” I questioned sitting down on my bed

“I think we should call this week lie to Mia week, don’t you think?” I scoffed

“You’ve been seeing this guy?” Tyler asked me

“Does you dad know?” He asked again

“Mia please, I am a wizard but I’m also a ghost” Ace stood up

“How can you be two things Ace?” I asked looking up at him

“I was a wizard before I died I-”

“Hold up! You died? But you don’t look dead, I mean-” he chuckled

“I know. But the moon goddess did send me, I promise you that, she did” Ace explained

“Mi-”

“I believe you Ace, and I won’t ask how you died and all. I just need you to be here today okay. I feel like something bad is going to happen today. You will protect me right?” I asked and he nodded

“Of course I will Mia. I will always protect you” he smiled at me and I gave him a small smile back.

“Do you like her?” Tyler growled at him

“What?” Me and Ace asked confused, looking at Tyler.

“I asked, do you like her?” Tyler growled his blue eyes flickering to red.

“Woah dude! Chill” Ace exclaimed as Tyler walked towards him slowly.

“Mom!” I shouted as loud as I could. Tyler grabbed Ace by the collar but Ace disappeared out of his hands and stood in the other corner.

“Dude listen-” mom ran inside with dad behind her.

“What happened?” She asked looking at Tyler who was growling and walking towards Ace.

“Ace just leave. Please. I’ll call you when it’s time” I said and he sighed

“Okay” he disappeared and Tyler growled loudly

“How many times is the guy going to get angry?” Dad muttered as mom walked towards Tyler.

“Tyler sweetie, please calm down” she touched his shoulder and he turned around and pushed her away.

Dad grabbed mom quickly before she could fall to the floor.

“Oi” dad shouted and Tyler growled

“It’s okay Alec” mom smiled up at him and she stood up

“Tyler. Follow me” mom said opening the door and he shook his head his eyes turning to a bright red colour.

“Mom remember last time Tyler got angry, and he calmed down when I touched him? Shall I try again?” I asked and she nodded closing the door.

I walked closer to Tyler and he looked at me, following my every movement.

“Tyler?” I asked

“What?” He asked in a deep voice

“Don’t you dare spoil this day for me okay! It’s my birthday! And I want you to behave!” I exclaimed and slapped him on the arm.

“Mia!” Mom shouted and I turned to her.

“It happens in movies!” I tried to defend myself as Tyler glared at me.

“Mia..” Tyler growled and I smirked

“Now it’s my birthda-” I ran towards the door, opening it and ran downstairs.

“Mia, you can’t run away from a vampire!” Dad shouted as Tyler stood infront of me and grabbed my waist. He picked me up and threw me on his shoulder softly.

“Why do you think you can never beat your mom in a race. They’re all vampires” dad mumbled about to walk towards me, but mom grabbed his hand.

“Don’t. It’s okay” she pulled dad out of the living room.

“Thanks for leaving me here mom!” I shouted as Tyler walked back upstairs.

“Tyler can you put me down? We’re going to-” he pushed his room door opened and walked inside. He put me down, and turned me around so I was facing the door and pushed me against it, while closing it.

“Now Tyler, this isn’t-” he growled at me, while turning me around so I was facing him.

“Your eyes are blue, so you okay now?” I asked as he leaned closer to me, and leaned his forehead on mine.

“You look beautiful Mia. The most beautiful girl I have ever seen” he whispered

“Oh-” I looked down a little, knowing my face was heating up.

Don’t trust him, he might turn out like Daniel. I thought sighing.

“I bet you use that on all the girls” I smirked looking up at him.

“I’ve never been with a girl before. I’ve never felt this way with anyone else-”

“Yeah, and Daniel was never my mate. Come on Tyler, le-” he froze

“You know?” He stepped back

“I know what?” I asked confused and his eyes turned red quickly

“Leave!” He shouted and I shook my head

“I know what Tyler?” I asked again and he punched the wall

“I said LEAVE!” He shouted and his voice was so powerful I had to lower my head

I walked out of the room, as mom ran upstairs alone.

“What happened?” She asked standing away from the door.

“Mom, is Tyler powerful than you?” I asked

“Why do you ask?”

“Because when he told me to leave, I felt like if I didn’t I would be dead. And when you use your queen voice on me, I don’t feel like bowing down to you, but just following your orders. Why is that?” I asked and she froze

“Your party has started. Let’s go” she walked downstairs. Taking a deep breath, I followed her downstairs and out of the kitchen, to the backyard.

“Happy birthday” the whole pack shouted and I smiled

“Thank you” I walked past everyone towards dad.

Everyone else carried on talking to their friends as dad gave me a small box.

“Open it. It’s a present from me” he said and I hugged him,then let him go

“Than-” I opened the box to see a bottle of pepper spray.

“It will protect you. Spray it a few times in their eyes, and BAM, you have at least a minute to run away” he smirked crossing his arms, feeling proud of himself

“Dad... thanks” I smiled shaking my head as Summer and Adam walked towards me.

“My present” Summer handed me a small red velvet box.

“You proposing to me?” I smirked and Adam held her hand.

“You wish babe. I’m too good for you” she flicked her hair backwards and I rolled my eyes

I opened the box to see a big heart shaped pendant.

“Turn it around” she said and I did.

On the back was written:

“I swear, this obsession you have over me is not good for you Summer, you have a mate” I exclaimed taking it out of the box and wearing it around my neck.

“Oh shut up Mia. Adam got you something as well. Come on Adam, give it to her” Summer insisted and Adam handed me a badly wrapped package.

“Did Summer wrap this up?” She stuck her tougue out a me.

I ripped the paper off and it was a black and white dress.

“Thank you” I smiled at him.

“Summer helped me pick it out” he said and I nodded

“Can we go now?” Summer asked mom and she nodded

“Sure. But just be careful” mom said and Summer grabbed my hand and pulled me away from my parents.

“Are you ready to go?” She asked and I nodded giving her a fake smile

“Yep. I’m just going to go get a coat, and I’ll be back” I walked away from the whole crowd and to the castle.

I walked upstairs to my room, and wore my brown coat. Waking back outside I saw Tyler walking out of his room.

“I’m sorry Mia” he whispered

“What for?” I asked

“For shouting at you” he mumbled and I nodded

“It’s okay if you come with me.” I said and he nodded

“Where are you going?” He asked walking towards me, slowly

“To a club” I smiled

“You don’t want to go do you?” He asked and I shook my head

“Not really. I’m not in the mood to go to a club. I just want to be in a quiet place all alone” I mumbled

“I’ll take you to a place where it’s all quiet. You’ll have me there so it won’t be alone but I promise that it will be quiet and you will love it” he motioned me to follow him as he walked downstairs.

We walked out of the door just to see Summer walking up the steps

“We were waiting for you” she smiled

“Summer you guys go ahead. I’ll catch up with you guys later okay?” I asked and she nodded slowly and walked away.

Tyler grabbed my hand and pulled me to the forest where he stopped

“Where are we going?” I asked confused looking around to see we were in a small clearing.

“Just hold onto me” he grabbed my hand, while intertwining our fingers together.

All of a sudden, a big shield appeared around us and we were in the sky.

“You ca-” I was shocked

“I promise to tell you everything Mia. When I’m ready” he said and I nodded

He pulled out a handkerchief out of his pocket, and tied it around my eyes

“Don’t worry, it’s clean. I’ll take you to my favourite place” he whispered into my ear and I nodded, ignoring the chills running down my back from his voice.

After a while, I don’t know how long it took, but when Tyler removed the cloth from my eyes, I realised we were there.

“You can open your eyes now” he said and I opened my eyes to see a tree house, with fairy lights all around it. And there was a small bridge leading up to the house.

“Do you like it?” He asked rubbing the back of his neck

“Yeah” I whispered walking over the bridge and towards the house.

“Where did you find this place?” I asked opening the door to see a small sofa, a mini fridge, and a table with a few books on top of it.

“When I was 18. I’m 22 now.” He said closing the door behind himself.

It was a really big place from the inside.

“This is what I need” I sat down on the sofa and closed my eyes.

“What’s wrong Mia? For a couple of days you have been acting weird”

I opened my eyes to see Tyler taking his black blazer off leaving him a white shirt and black jeans.

Hot! Someone screamed in my head.

“Shit!” I touched my head quickly

“What happened Mia?” He asked quickly sitting infront of me on the floor.

“I don’t know. My head, it was like someone was talking to me” I muttered confused

“Really?” He asked smiling

“I don’t find it funny Tyler. I might be dying here!” I exclaimed

“A little dramatic don’t you think?” He smirked and I rolled my eyes

“Shush. I just want to be quiet” I closed my eyes and laid my head on the sofa.

“Okay” I heard him stand up and sit next to me.

“You didn’t answer my question” he said after a couple of minutes, and I opened my eyes and looked at him.

“Did you answer any of mine?” I questioned and he nodded

“Fair enough. How about we play spin the bottle, just to ask some questions?” He stood and walked to mini fridge.

He pulled out a vodka bottle that was nearly empty. He opened the bottle and drank from it and then walked back towards me.

“Come on Mia” he pulled me to the floor

I sat opposite him as he put the bottle in between us.

“I spin the bottle, and who ever it lands on, will ask the question. Okay?” He asked and I nodded

Going first, he spun the bottle and it landed on him.

“I get to ask first. Favourite colour?” He asked

“Teal” he nodded and spun it again, which landed on him again.

“Are you cheating?” I asked and he smirked

“And how can I cheat?”

“I don’t know. Next one I spin ” I mumbled

“Favourite food?”

“Chinese food- salt and pepper chips” I spun the bottle again and it landed on me.

“Are you the midnight Blue wolf?” I asked and he chuckled

“Getting straight to the point huh?”

“Yes. So?”

“Yes I am.” He spun the bottle again and it landed on him.

“Did you like Daniel?” He asked staring into my eyes

“I did” I grabbed the bottle and spun it which landed on him.

“Do you love Daniel?” He asked

“No” I replied and he nodded spinning the bottle which landed on him again.

“Do you like someone?”

“You’re cheating!” I exclaimed

“Okay fine. We’ll take turns. I’ll ask one question, and then you. Now answer my question Mia” he pushed the bottle away

“No I don’t like anyone”

“Really?” He asked

“That’s another question. It’s my turn. Why did your mate reject you?” He frowned

“I don’t want to talk about it Mia”

“But I’m telling you everything about me”

“Fine. She rejected me because she never understood me. She said I wasn’t her type” he rolled his eyes

“What’s your type?” I asked

“It’s my turn. What’s your type Mia?” He asked and I shrugged

“Someone not like Daniel. Someone who is sweet, listens to me, understands me, and loves me for who I am. Most importantly, someone who isn’t fake ” I mumbled and he nodded

“Your question?” He asked and I nodded

“What are you Tyler?” I asked and he smirked

“You’re not patient are you?” He shook his head

“I want to know Tyler. Please”

“So you tell me about your past. I want to know what happened when you were 12-”

“Don’t!” I shook my head and stood up

“I think we should go home” I muttered

“So you want to know everything about me, but you won’t tell me what happened. Remember the day I scared you when we went jogging? After that day your mom told me to not scare you. She said everyone has a past, and so do you Mia. So please tell me? Maybe I could help” he grabbed my hand, stopping me from walking away.

“I can’t” I whispered

“You can Mia” he whispered back touching my cheek.

“I-I” the door opened and Daniel walked inside with a woman behind him.

“Getting cosy with my brother Mia? A little low don’t you think?” Daniel smirked and I looked at Tyler who sighed, closing his eyes

“You’re his brother?” I whispered stepping back

“Twin brother” Daniel chuckled and I moved back towards the window.

“Mia I was going t-” I shook my head

“I-” I was speechless. I couldn’t say anything.

“Oh poor baby. Does Alec even know you’re here?” The woman said and I looked at her.

“Who are you?” I asked confused and she fake gasped

“Don’t tell me Alec has forgotten me already? Oh well. I’ll make sure he remembers when I take you with me” she smirked

“I think we should sit down first Anna” Daniel smirked walking inside and sitting down on the sofa.

“Anna?” I asked remembering dad told me to never talk to a woman called Anna, and now I remember him showing me a picture of her.

“Oh so he did mention me?” She smirked and I moved back.

“Ace?” I mumbled and Tyler walked closer to me.

“Mia just listen to me. I’m not going to hurt you, okay. Let’s go” he held my hand and pulled me out of the tree house after grabbing his blazer

“I don’t think so” Anna stood infront of us as we reached the other side.

“I do. If Daniel has told you anything about me, then you must know that you can’t defeat me. And I will protect Mia” Tyler stood in front of me as Daniel walked towards us

“I kind of forgot” he shrugged as Anna glared at him.

“Forgot what?” Anna asked

“Mia?” Tyler turned to me and pulled me closer to him. He made a shield around us and we were in the sky again.

“Mia I-”

“I don’t want to hear it Tyler, please” I muttered stepping away from him.

“I’ll tell your dad about Anna, and Daniel.” He muttered and I nodded as we landed in my room.

He got rid of the shield and I walked to the door and opened it for him.

“Happy birthday Mia” he handed me a rolled up paper, and walked out of the room.

I closed the door behind him and took the elastic band off the paper. I opened the paper to see a big portrait of myself.
