Chapter-4

After another five agonizing hours we finally entered the grounds of Dark Blood Pack and after ten more minutes of driving we were finally parked and stood in front of the pack house and ready to be greeted by the Alpha.

Their pack house was bigger than ours back home or used to be home, and they have vast land for their pack members and fairly large houses for them too.

We all were standing in front of the Alphas house or pack house I don’t know, I felt someone nudging me to my sides and it’s none other than Joshua, “what you want?” I whispered yelled at him.

He just scoffed and said “why are you whispering?”

“Just tell me what do you want” I said irritated now by his childish tics.

Before he could say Roman interrupted us and said “okay now behave please” and knocked three times on the front door of the house.

And beside me Joshua muttered “we always do” , me and Jer scoffed in unison and Joshua glared towards us , but said nothing. Smart choice for once.

In my arms Ethan was fast asleep and totally beat by the journey. I adjusted him a bit in my arms; he stirred a bit but didn’t wake up.

After few minutes front door opened and a tall figure with dark brown hairs and intense black eyes looked at us with warm smile playing on his lips and Roman greeted “Alpha Carson” and they both shook each other’s hand and Alpha Carson laughed and said “no need to call me alpha now, I have retired and my son is now Alpha. He’s not here and you can call me Matthews or Matt”

“Okay then” Roman said, “so, this is my family...” he started. But, Matt stopped him and said “oh where is my manners, c’mon in” and opened the door wide open for us to enter and said “don’t tell my wife about this, okay” we all nodded and went inside following him.

We entered a fairly large living room, which consist of large couches and a large fireplace, we stood there thinking what to do as Matt said “don’t stand there, please sit make yourself home”

And then it hit me for real when he said that home, we are finally here and it’s going to be our new home for a lifetime maybe. I keep on reminding myself it’s for good, all it’s for good.

In the midst of my freakout moment, a beautiful lady with black hair and green eyes entered the living room with a boy who must be 18 and a girl who must be 15 with same hair and eyes, just like the women who just entered the room, must be their children and she must be the former Alpha’s mate.

Matt introduced us saying this is “Suzie my mate and wife and this is my second oldest son Ryan and this is my youngest daughter Summer”

“thanks dad, but you know I can introduce myself” girl Summer said and stood in front of us with huge grin and said “as my dad already introduced us , it’s only fair if you only to the same”

“Summer” Suzie her mom said “where are your manners?”

We chuckled and Roman said “no it’s okay, she’s right it’s a fair game”

“See he isn’t angry,” Summer said, facing her parents.

But this time her brother said “don’t mind her; she’s a little crack up in here” and pointed to his head for clarification and Summer glared at him, but faced us.

“Okay I do the honors of introducing this family of mine” Joshua said, and pointed towards Roman and Emma and said “this is Roman and his mate and wife Emma and the little monster is their son Riley, and this ….” He pointed towards Jer “is Jeremy, Emma’s little brother and brat of the family”

“hey I’m no brat” Jer exclaimed from my right , but Joshua being in Joshua moment ignored him and pointed towards me and said “this right here is our I mean mine and Roman’s little brother Adam but, we call him Jamie or Mr. grumpy pants and the little bundle he’s holding is Ethan, he is,………….” He was about to say god knows what, but I said it before he could say something stupid “my son, he’s my son” and patted his back protectively.

“Yeah he’s his son and lastly I’m Joshua you can call me Josh, the life of this family” as he completed the introduction and smiled up at Carson family.

“Cool I like you” said Summer cheerfully

“Thanks” said Joshua, basking in the moment.

Summer came near me and said “can I hold your son” and extended her arms for him to take. I was a little anxious to let go of him in her arms because he was asleep and never been with any others, other than us or our family. But, on the other hand I don’t want to break Summer’s heart as she is quite a girl with all bubbly personality so, I stood up and with a smile I handed Ethan to her carefully not to wake him up saying “here you go, hold him like this, carefully he is still asleep” and adjusted her arms around Ethan more securely.

She carefully holds him and swayed little side to side and said “he’s so pretty and cute”

“Thanks,” I said, smiling down at him.

“I know this is stupid and totally out of blue but, whenever you need to have babysitter for them please consider me” Summer said still looking down and smiling at him, beside her brother muttered “women”

I chuckled and said “we’ll definitely consider it” as on cue Ethan stirred and slowly opened his eyes and adjusted him to the surroundings and Summer stood still watching his every move, Ethan looked up at Summer confused I guess because babies as his age are totally unpredictable. He looked to his side and his eyes landed on me then to her parents then again to Summer and a few minutes passed him assessing his surroundings supporting a cute little frown. In that moment he totally reminded me of Chris, I sighed and looking at just him as he started to fuss I took him from her and cooed at him “ok ok I’m here Ethan, daddy’s here” and patted his back soothingly as he calmed down and hid his face in crook of my neck.

Matt broke the silence and said “ok I think it’s better now you go and rest, it must be really tiring journey you had and my son Ryan will show you your home both ones you requested” Matt paused “I wanted to inform you that as my older son is not here, and in his absence I’m going to perform the ceremony to officially welcome you to this pack so, it will take place tomorrow at 12 noon”

He completed conveying all the information to us and eyed us hopefully and Roman said “yeah that would be good, sooner the better” offering them the smile and Suzie Matt’s mate clapped her hands enthusiastically and said “oh I can’t wait for the ceremony, oh gosh so many preparations have to be done” and keep on telling what it will be like.

“Ok ok dear relax let’s not overwhelm them, shall we” Matt said to his mate, effectively claiming her down from her high.

Roman interrupted them saying “if you don’t mind me asking when is your other son, I mean Alpha Carson is coming back I want to like to talk to him” in a polite voice.

“Oh don’t worry son, I can assure you that he doesn’t have any problem to have you and your family here but, Logan will be back in one month time” Matt replied politely.

As he replied back to Roman and the way he said his eldest son’s name Logan my heart skipped a bit and a fuzzy feeling was felt in my stomach. I felt confused. Why was I feeling like this? I never felt like this before just hearing the person’s name for that matter, I think the journey has taken a toll on me.

“Ok if you say so but, still I would love to talk to him, just in case” Roman replied

“Don’t worry but, do as you please because it’s going to be your home too now” Matt said with a smile.

“ok I think it’s better we show you your house so, that you all can rest” paused to locate his son Ryan who is Busy glaring daggers at his sister who will hold Riley first “ok Ryan now stop you both fussing about the kids and come here and show them where is their house and you better grab the food your mother made for them so, they can eat in some peace rather than here suffering the brunt of this crazy family” Matt said facing his kids who were cooing and struggling to get the Ethan’s and Riley’s attention for a while now.

“Okay” they both said together.

“Thank you Matt for having us here and thank you Suzie for the food” Roman said

“Oh no problem dear” Suzie replied back with such a warm smile

We all said our goodbyes and left the premises together with their kids escorting us to our supposed house. Their pack house is good. I mean I haven’t gotten the opportunity to go inside and explore but, by seeing from outside you can tell it’s fairly big or huge is the right word. I can sense and see some curious eyes. They must be pack members, curious about us and who we are. I don’t know but, one thing for sure I have this feeling that something big and important going to happen and it can adversely affect me, good or bad is just unforeseen for now and I’m totally anxious about this but, my wolf Xavier is happy just coming to this land, how can I tell? It’s just I can feel his excitement and nervousness and other emotions which I couldn’t understand myself. I was dozing off in my inner world and I couldn’t hear Joshua’s voice.

I shook my head and said “huh”

He rolled his eyes and repeated himself “I said we are here and that is our new homes” pointing to a big white one and beside it equally large red one and entered the house with others, with Ethan in his arms.

I studied the houses from outside. They both are fairly big and the garden is big too. I can add some swings for Ethan when he grows a little older, at this thought I smiled and it filled my heart with warmth. I sighed and entered the house to see it from inside now.

For better or worse now this is our home. Our safe sanctuary for now.
