“Please don’t leave me, how can I do such a thing, how can you leave me hanging here, I need you, your son needs you, no please Evelyn please don’t” I beg her.

“I can’t Jamie and I know you, I trust you to love my son like yours and to protect him with all the harm his way, I know you can do this for me, for Chris, please” she said and with that she lie their lifeless, once rosy cheeks of her were pale like the silent around us.

I woke up again with a nightmare that has been my routine for the past six months. Every night all the events of that day played in my mind and it’s already been six months but’ it’s still fresh in my memory like a Sunday morning. I sighed and glanced down to see Jeremy sleeping peacefully collapsing my hand in his and to my other side Ethan is still asleep too. I saw the time on my wrist watch it’s 3:30 am, so it’s no use to sleep anymore because we are going to leave around five.

I slowly slid off the bed and went to my bathroom and blankly stared in the mirror at my reflection for a few seconds. I looked pale and my blue eyes looked dull, I closed my eyes. After sometimes I was done doing my usual morning routine and now I was buttoning up my shirt, after buttoning up I combed my wet hair from shower and I was all set to go. I quickly took all our belongings which were needed to be loaded in the car trunk and the truck which consist of our needed material, went down out of the house to the garage and placed it there.

When I reached my room as it’s 4 am already and I heard Roman and Emma are up and Joshua was up too, I crouched next to Jeremy and shook him a little but, he stayed put after third try he opened his eyes and asked “it’s time already”

“Yeah” I replied and told him to go and get ready, as he went to his room to get ready and gather his stuff, as on cue Ethan start crying in his crib, I got up and took Ethan in my arms and lead him to my bed and laid him their checked his nappy, which surprisingly was clean “shhhh, I’m here, daddy’s here” I cooed at him, I sway him a little when he quieted a little bit I went into the bathroom and ran a warm bath for him, after cleaning him up and changing him in his new set of clothes and packing his other stuff which I needed there for him I took the last two bags, I checked again for anything I forgot when I got nothing I switched off the light and shut the room my way out and lead me and Ethan downstairs where a little chatter was heard.

When I reached in the living room I took glance that Joshua was ready in his faded jeans and his normal t-shirt and drinking coffee, and on his other side Jeremy was all set too and all their luggage was near the door when Joshua saw me there standing he came up and said “let me help you there” took the bags and placed them with others, I walked were Jeremy was sitting and took next spot beside him, who was busy eating some cereal I guess.

Emma came into room with Riley in her arms, he was big now considering the fact he is five months old now and exact replica of Roman just his eye color he took from his mother which was hazel with black hairs just like Roman, Emma had one milk bottle in her hand and handed it to me saying “thought you needed it” and jerked her head towards Ethan, who was now eyeing milk as his prey.

“Thanks” I said to her and took the bottle from her and started feeding Ethan, who greedily took it. I shook my head smiling and bent over and kissed his forehead lightly, he looked up with his sparkling blue eyes and made some noise, which I considered as his appreciation and I smiled at him “you like it when I kiss you” he made that sound again, I smiled at him and continued feeding him.

After he was fed Roman came into the room all set to go “ok, let’s go it’s almost ten hour drive there so, we should be going now, all things are taken and kids fed” we nodded, as Joshua and Jeremy placed all the luggage left in the truck.

He turned to them “all things are loaded”, they both nodded he nodded back in understanding and said “so let’s go”

With that we all left the house, the only house we have known, the only place we have known but, again sometimes is good to flee and settle somewhere else to know yourself.

We came out and stopped in front of my brother’s BMW suv and the truck which was parked behind it.

“So now Joshua and Jeremy are going to take a truck and while we are going to take my car and later we can switch places if one feels tired” Roman explained and we all mumbled our agreement and went to our respective vehicles. I strapped both Riley and Ethan in their car seats and checked it twice. I sat in the middle because the backseat was fully loaded.

Shortly after Emma and Roman sat in the car and Emma handed me some coffee which I thanked her because I haven’t had anything and after a few minutes we were off to a new start, a fresh start.

We were riding for five hours now and seriously with every passing hour my anticipation and level of nervousness grew like; what will it be like there? Will they accept us? What kind of pack are they? Don’t get me wrong I have heard but, still it said never believe what you have heard unless you have witnessed with your own eyes and seriously I was pitching the later one.

I was engrossed in my thoughts that I haven’t noticed Roman stopped the car in front of food joint until Emma called for me “I’m sure that you are sore from sitting” I looked at her , she offered me a smile and my best response was “huh” she just chuckled and said “I hope you are hungry because they are she jerked her head at the three inpatient men standing outside waiting for us to leave the car and join them.

“Yeah” I said and unbuckled Ethan and Riley from their car seats. I’m sure they are frustrated by now because as I unbuckled them they sighed in their own childish way.

We all made our way inside the food joint which read ‘karries barries’ who even name their hotels or joints with such weird names, we all seated at the end where there was bigger space and asked them to bring two high chairs for the toddlers with us.

“oh man my back is stiff” Joshua moaned and arched is back in stretching way , from beside me Jeremy snickered and said “leave the moaning for the bedroom” which earned him slap from Joshua while Emma scolded them “virgin ears” , “oops sorry” and little did I know they aren’t sorry at all.

And suddenly a waitress came all cheery and bubble and said “hi I’m Liza your waitress what would you like to eat or drink”

“Umm” I was going to say, but seriously these innocent goons can’t let me say “I want coke” , said Jeremy.

“I want dew” said Joshua

“And we want some coke too” Roman said smiling at Liza while ordering for him and Emma

Liza duly noted all their orders for drink and asked me, finally I thought “and what about you, and these cute munchkins”

I chuckled a little and said “I would like Pepsi and these munchkins will take little orange juice in Sippy cups, of course if you have them” with a smile

“Sure we do” she smiled and cooed at them “I’ll be back and take your order when you are ready” with that she left our table and went back to get our drinks.

I adoringly cooed at Ethan who giggled in return and Riley was lost in his own thoughts.

“I can’t ride anymore I need to switch and you Adam James Ryker is going to ride that truck with this loser here” Joshua’s voice interrupted me.

I scowled at him and said “why me?”

“Because this loser can’t ride and obviously Roman here refuses to do that, so my dear baby brother you are my last resort” Joshua exclaimed.

“And if I refuse” I said, raising my eyebrow.

“that’s not an option and I also want some quality time with my monsters, so don’t be a pansy” he said and took Riley out of his chair and sat him on his lap making him giggle and saying “I know you want your favorite uncle not the prude right there” he motioned at me, I just rolled my eyes and said “it’s hard to believe you are a doctor”

“Whatever” he said and went back to play with Riley and same time Liza was back with our drinks and handed to us and took out her note and pen and asked “you guys ready to order yet” we all nodded and told her what we needed Josh and Jer asked for proper meal on their menu and Roman asked for some pancakes and fries and same for Emma and me, I asked for a burger with extra cheese and fries, she went to get our orders and I started feeding Ethan some orange juice and occasionally sipping my drink, Ethan started fussing so I took him out of his chair and placed him on my lap and said “there you go buddy” and he happily sipping his juice.

“Ok guys it’s our only and last stop so you better get your toilet runs here and also get packed some food for the way because, it’s still a long way to go” Roman said and left with Emma for the toilet I guess.

And beside me Joshua grumbled “who knows what they are going to in their”

“Dude, stop giving me the mental image of my sister when I’m trying to eat” Jer said his face showing disgust as he says.

“Technically you are drinking and clearly they have done more as you can see” Josh said referring to riley.

I scoffed and said “stop corrupting his mind and others two who cannot speak but, clearly listen to you” pause “and grow a little”

“Dude I have grown huge” Josh exclaimed and wiggled his brow and Jer choked on his drink and I just glared at him and shook my head “seriously though is you medical degree even real” I paused a little and said “because I’m doubting their skills here”

“Oh please! I’m totally professional but, there’s no harm having fun once in a while where you Mr. clearly lack “Josh said and continued feeding Riley his juice.

Shortly after Emma and Roman came and after them only Liza came with our food orders and we told her to pack some burgers and juice for the kids for our way, other than that we eat in silence.

After paying our bill and taking our take out order we settled in our vehicles and in a truck as it was my turn now, Josh words not mine and in a few we were off to our final destination to Dark Blood Pack.
