Chapter fifteen

(David POV)

I sat there for a little while just trying to think what I should say to her. She looked so sad and lost, but I don’t know why or if I should even ask.

“What’s wrong beautiful? Why wouldn’t you want to go back to your pack?”

“I just can’t go back after my mate has rejected me like I was nothing. So, please can’t I just stay with you because I can’t go back there, and I have nowhere to go.”

I couldn’t believe that she just told me that her idiot of a mate rejected her. How could anyone want to reject some when as beautiful as her. It makes me want to keep her for myself, maybe I still have a chance to be happy myself.

“What about your family? Don’t you want them to know that you’re alright?”

“No please, can’t I just stay with you until I find a job and be able to get my own place.”

I’m not sure what I should do with her. A part of me wants to convince her that it be better for her to go back to her pack, but the other part of me just want to take care of her myself.

“Alright, you can come with me until you are ready to be on your own or want to go back to your own pack.”

Aurora face just light up with the most beautiful smile that I have ever seen. I can tell that Kayden was not happy with me at all, but he’s probably grumpy because he hasn’t fed in a while. Sucks being a vampire. The rest of the trip was quiet after Aurora fell asleep on the van floor. I gave her my jacket so she can lay her head on it, but I just watch her sleep trying to figure out what am I going to do with her. Where will she be staying? What will she do about money? Maybe she could stay with me to help with taking care of a two-month-old girl. I do have a spare room she could use. I’ll have to talk to her when we get there to see what she feels is right for her.

(Aurora POV)

I was waking up as the van stopped and feeling the gentle touch of a hand on my shoulder.

“Hey beautiful, it’s time to wake up.”

“Are we there already?”

“Beautiful, you’ve been sleeping for a few hours, it’s about 6 pm. You must have been really tired.”

I can’t believe I have been sleeping that long, but to be honest I still feel I could sleep at least a few more hours if he let me too. It must be from all the energy that Kamaria went through to get away from those guys.

“Come on beautiful, we need to go inside to talk to Anastasia about you staying here or maybe you won’t mind staying with Muriel and I.”

“Who’s Muriel?”

“She’s, my goddaughter. Both of her parents were my best friends. Her father was killed for rouge attack and her mother died at childbirth. I was the only one that would take her in.”

“I’m so sorry to hear that, but at least she still has you to care for her.”

“Yeah, she does. Let’s get going before the club opens up and Ana will be too busy to talk to you.”

“Where’s Kayden?”

“He’s already getting the supplies into the club so he can hurry up and feed before he really gets grouchy.”

So, Kayden is a vampire, well that explains the uneasiness I had around him. I had never been around a vampire before. When I got out of the van, I was surprised to see a building that looked like it could be 100 years old as a night club. It was made of bricks with two looking towers in the front of it on both sides of the entrance. The outside looked old, but when I got inside of the club it was all modern style. At the bar I see a beautiful blonde hair female, with soft blue eyes who looked to be in her late 20’s or early 30’s. When David went over to the bar, the blonde looked up to him and smiled but seem confused when she sees me.

“Hey Davey, I’m glad you’re finally back to us. Did you bring me the paperwork?”

He hands over some paperwork to her as she looks over it is looking for something.

“No, I don’t see anything in this paperwork about you picking up a young girl.”

She smiles at me to let me see that she was joking around with David.

“Come on Ana, what was I supposed to do with her. I couldn’t just leave there on her own with nowhere to go.”

“Alright mister sensitive.” She then walks over to me. “Hey hon, what’s your name? What pack do you come from?”

Oh no, she already starting to ask all sorts of question I really don’t want to answer.

“My name is Aurora. It doesn’t matter what pack I come from because I’m no longer belong there. Not after my mate has rejected me.”

“What do you mean you no longer belong there?

“Yeah beautiful, can you explain further about it?”

“Like I said, my mate has rejected me.”

“Yes beautiful. I do understand that, but…wait your telling us that your mate is a higher rank pack member.”

I didn’t want to answer any more questions.

“Don’t worry hon, you can always stay here but we need to figure out where you can stay and what you’re going to do for money.”

“Ana, I was thinking that she could always stay with me until she finds a place of her own. I do have a three-bedroom apartment. “

“I’m not sure that would be best because I wouldn’t want to a burden on you.”

“You won’t have to be a burden on me, because I could really use your help.”

“How would I be any help to you?”

“Well, I work at least 60-80 hours a week and could really use your help watching Muriel while I work.”

“I guess that would be alright until I can get on my own.”

She looked over to my hand that had the ring that Alex had given to me. The ring that was supposed to stand for a promise for us to be together always.

“Aurora, would you mind if I took a look at your ring?”

I walked over to her and gave her my hand so she could look at it closer, but as she touched it, she let go so fast as if the ring burned her.

“So where did you get such a ring? The stone looks like it could be a painite?”

“Yeah, it is but now I just want to get rid of it. It’s a reminder of a lie.”

“Are you willing to sell that ring to me then? If you like I could always use that ring as a collateral for me to give you a loan.”

“No, I just want to get rid of it. I never want to see it again.”

“I’ll give you around $100,000 and trust me the ring is worth a lot more than that with just the stone alone. It will at least give you some money to help you out.”

I can’t believe the ring is worth that much.

‘Aurora, are you 100% sure you want to do that? It’s something our mate gave to us.’

‘Yes, it’s just a painful reminder of a lie.’

“Hey David, your back and you brought a little friend with you.”

“Oh Luciana, this is Aurora and she’ll be staying with me for a while. So, what brings you here? Is Muriel alright?”

“Yes David, she is doing well. I just came back from giving her a checkup and everything is great.” She then looked at me as she put her hand out to me. “My name is Luciana Moon and I’m the acting doctor here.”

“Wow, a doctor at such a young age.”

“Well, I did just turn 97 last month.”

Is she serious? How can she be that old?

“Yes, I am that old. I’m a white witch. I practice in healing, herb medicines and water magic.”

She smiles as she shakes my hand, and her eyes became wide with a bright smile on her face.

“Congratulations, with having twins.”

“Wait? What?”

“I’m sorry, but didn’t you know that?”

“NO!”

I can’t believe that I’m pregnant and pregnant with twins. What am I going to do? Should I let Alex know about this? Would he even care about our pups? I guess I have no choice but to sell the ring now.

“Ana, I’d be happy to sell this ring to you. Sadly, I am having an issue of taking the ring off my finger.”

“Don’t worry, I have something in my office that will help you get that off your finger.”

We all walk over to Ana office and watch her mix some herbs and vials of liquids together into a small bowl to put in front of me.

“Alright hon, just put your hand in the bowl and soak it for the ring to loosen off your finger.”

As I put my hand into the bowl the liquid turned black as the night sky.

“Is that normal?”

“Yes, don’t worry about its alright hon.”

I can tell by looking at her face that this was not normal, but before I could say anything the water turned white, and the ring came off as she promises. Now I can get that money to take care of my little ones.

“I’ll have David set up an account for you and I think you should set up a time with Luciana for an appointment for her to care for your twins.”

I can’t believe that I’m going to be a single mom. It’s a good thing that David is letting me stay with him, but what if he changes his mind now that I’m pregnant. I looked over to him with such worry he wouldn’t let me stay with him now.

“What’s wrong beautiful?”

“I was wondering if you’re going to change your mind about me staying with you now?”

“Of course not, why would I do that to you. I promise to always be there to help you no matter what.”

Alex once promised me the same thing and now look where I am.
