Sarah Williams – POV 

It was on the topmost shelf, and me being short to reach that, I let out a dejected sigh. Well, Zachary must have made it their mission to make my life as hard as he possibly can. I looked around the room till I found a chair, and I dragged it towards the bookshelf and got hold of the letter. I got down from the shelf and sat on the same chair and stared at the cream- colored envelope. The stench of blood was making me nauseous, but I took a few large gulps of my saliva and took out the letter that was already crumbled a few times. 

Dear Beta, 

It’s a shame to call yourself the beta of one of the strongest packs on this continent, and you were not able to protect two of your pack members. But, I don’t blame you either because I would have acted the same way if I had found my mate. 

I must say, Sarah, is one beautiful woman, and it would be a devastation to see her covered in her blood with her eyes lifeless, right? 

Well, Mark my words, beta, after I get what I want, she would be my next target, and you wouldn’t be able to do anything. 

I know you must be wondering why I am targeting her. But, I won’t tell you anything now because when the time comes, you will know. 

My palms were presumably sweating while I was shaking in fear. I don’t get anything, as far as I know, I have never done anything bad to anyone I know, so why am I the target? If

beta Zacahry had any personal grudge against someone else, then they should deal with it separately, and not involve me in it.

My heart leaped out of my chest when I heard that sound, so I quickly put the letter inside the envelope again and quickly. dragged the chair and placed it where I took it from before I exited the office. I looked both ways to see that the hallway was empty, and I dashed towards the front door before Beta Alan finds me. 

“Where do you think you are going?” Zachary tightly wrapped his arms around my waist and hoisted me up, preventing my escape. He pulled my body close to his body, igniting all the fireworks while his warm breath was tinkling my right ear. “You know that trespassing is a serious crime in this pack, right?” I didn’t answer his question and remained silent. 

“This will not happen again, beta Alan.” I sneered back at him, but his arms only tightened more, and I closed my eyes and prayed that he wouldn’t do anything rash, within a few minutes, his arms loosened around me momentarily, and in that split second, he turned me around to face him. His green iris glowed with mirth and mischief, which made my throat instantly dry while I feebly tried to push him away, but his face moved closer to me, till his soft lips touched the skin where my shoulder meets the neck, and this made me stop and my eyes automatically closed. A long, sensual kiss was placed there when a moment later, his teeth lightly scrapped that area, and an involuntary moan left my mouth before he soon let me go and my eyes flew open. 

“What did you do?” I asked in shock and ran towards the

permission. But my neck was covered in love bites. 

Zachary came and stood behind me with an arrogant smell on his face. “I don’t like my mate to smell like another male,” he said and looked down at the love bites, and his smirk turned into a mischievous smile. “I think all these love bites will let others know to stay away from you.” 

“I don’t know why you came to my house. But, the next time you want to sneak in, don’t use the front entrance.” Zachary mocked, and I glared at him through the mirror before I turned around and stormed out of his house without looking back. 

Once I came back to my cabin, I shut the door and locked it after me before I made my way to bed again. I couldn’t sleep all night, I was restless and confused. Zachary is giving me a lot of mixed signals that make me want to scream. 

“Sarah,” 

“Sarah,” I slowly opened my eyes to see that Noah was already ready in a black suit, he smiled at me when I saw him, and I reciprocated his action. “I will be leaving in an hour,” he said, and I immediately got up from bed. 

“I am sorry, I slept off. But, give me five minutes, I will prepare something good for you before you leave.” I said and ran to the washroom, but just before I closed the door, he held the door. 

“I know this must be surprising to you. But, we are having breakfast at beta Zachary’s house.” Noah said with a smile,

“Is this a dream?” I blurted out, and he shook his head and pulled me out of the washroom. 

“Even I didn’t want to believe it. But beta Alan came by our place early in the morning, and said that he wanted to make amends for his behavior, so he invited all the high–ranking wolves to his house for breakfast, and we are also included,” he said, and I frowned my brows in confusion. 

Something doesn’t feel right to me. 

“Get ready, we will leave in ten minutes,” Noah announced, breaking me from my trance before he left our room. 

“Go ahead, knock on the door,” Noah said, gesturing towards the very door that I ran out from a few hours ago. I took a few nervous gulps before I rang the bell. A few minutes passed by before the door was opened. Beta Alan had the biggest smile I have ever seen on him. 

“You guys are just in time,” he said and turned his attention towards Noah before his eyes turned towards me, which had something hidden behind the facade that he was wearing. “Come in.” he gestured and opened the door wider, and moved aside.
