Chapter 83

Bethany's POV

I could hear my heart beating so loud and clear, it is beating so hard and fast and it was adding to my nervousness. I don't know what we are going to meet when we arrive, I'm sure that they would be so shocked to know that I am still alive. They would have a lot of questions, I don't know what I'm going to say or do when they start looking at me like a f*****g traitor that betrayed her own family. Dominic had rehearsed with me a thousand times, telling me all I'm going to say, giving me every answer that I should give them, but I just don't remember a thing he has said to me. I'm riding in the same car with Harriet, while Dominic and Carl rode in another car, coming behind us. He doesn't want us to be seen together, he doesn't want anyone to know that we are in a relationship, and he wants to try and use me to get information from my father. It's all so complicated and it infuriates me to think that I actually agreed to go with his plan, I let him use me as a bait to catch my own father, isn't that ironic. After so many years, I'm finally getting reunited with my family, and I'm about to greet my father with another betrayal.

You are wondering how we got to this point right, well here is how it all happened.

Dom had come clean with me about everything, I mean everything. He did not only tell me about my family, he told me about the war, telling me everything I never knew before, things I'd never heard about in my whole life. When I tried to argue with him when I tried to dispute his words based on what I've heard from my father, that was when he dropped a piece of shocking news to me that I still can't believe. He is accusing my father of being a traitor. He told me that everything my father has been saying to us had been lies, he said my father is one of those Alphas that are prepared to sell your people to the Lycan king if only that would guarantee him his position as Alpha. I had nearly gone crazy when he told me that my father had nearly sold me off to him five years ago. I can't believe it, no, I won't believe it, Its just unacceptable. I could not think straight, for two days I keep thinking about the same thing, trying to wrap my head around everything I'm hearing. I had a talk with Carl and he confirmed the same thing with me, then he told me a secret that he hasn't even shared with his mate or the king. He told me that he had seen my father using a wireless transmitter, the same type that is being used by King Ashford's spies to send messages amongst themselves and to the king as well.

He did not tell king Dominic about it because he doesn't want to raise a false alarm, he simply asked me to be careful when get reunited with my family. He doesn’t want me to trust my father as I used to, he even advised me to stay back, urging me to stay away from my family until the war is over, but that's not possible, if Dominic wanted to stay away, then he shouldn't have told me about it in the first place, although I know it is my fault because I asked for it, my curiosity wouldn't just let me stay away, I wouldn't have stopped asking until I find out the truth, and now that I know the truth I can't bear to stay away anymore. Harriet tried to talk me out of it, she tried so hard to get me to snap out of my endless thoughts, but I just couldn’ stop thinking about it, it was just too much for me to handle. I was too distracted, I could not concentrate on the mission an I ruined it for everyone. They keep trying to convince me that it's not my fault, but I know it's my fault. I must have made a mistake at some point that sold us out, I must have done something wrong at some point during our planning, that is why we didn't succeed.

Dominic's tech guy, Tyler had succeeded in creating the software that would be used to hack into King Ashford's computer. Everything was ready and Harriet and I were ready to carry out our mission. Dominic had called an impromptu meeting with his warriors and generals. It was a trick to keep the mole busy while I did my work, besides he has to make it look like he is not aware of what we were doing. It had taken almost two days for us to plan everything the way king Dominic wanted. Tyler did the connections, he used the equipment given to me by King Ashford, we had to use everything he sent to me so we don't arouse his suspicions. He gave me instructions on what to do, I read his instructions on my phone, then Tyler did the connection according to his instructions, he made a few adjustments to suit his software and he made a few mistakes to make it look amateurish, that way king Ashford wouldn't suspect anything, he would never know that the connection was “made by someone else. I snapped it all and sent them to him so he can verify my work and confirm that I followed his instructions. I waited for his confirmation before I left his office and went back to my room. Harriet had been with me all the way, she also reported back to him, making him feel like she was keeping an eye on me as I followed all of his instructions t the latter.

At first, it was working, everything was going so well. King Ashford had bought our lies and he was searching through Dominic's computer. I mind liked Dominic to tell him that it was working, then he dismissed his meeting and returned to his office, but Harriet and I had left before his arrival so we don't get caught by the moles. We were so agitated when we got back to the room, it's one thing to come up with a plan, but it's a completely different story when it comes to seeing it through. We don't know what is happening in that office, we don't know who is winning. It could be that king Ashford's tech guy would be more smarter than Dominic's guy, he could have gotten past Dominic's security system, and he may succeed in stealing important files from Dominic's computer, we just can't tell and there is no way to find out about the progress of the mission because Dominic doesn't want to be bothered, so he blocked every link, making it impossible for anyone to contact him.

We stayed in there for hours, waiting and hoping that things turn out the way we wanted. Then the commotion started and Harriet was summoned. She got summoned because she is a warrior, she had to run out in a hurry, but she didn't leave without leaving a stern warning, telling me to shut the door firmly. I knew something was wrong, I just don't know what it is, and it's just so frustrating to be left in the dark. I stood by the window and watched as everyone panicked and ran around, making me even more nervous. I went back to my usual habit of pacing the room because of my nervousness, I had a lot of questions in my mind as I paced the room in my nervous state, waiting impatiently for someone to come and tell me what is going on. I waited and waited for so long, I have been waiting for almost two hours, but it seems like forever. I shivered in fear when I heard a soft knock on the door I tiptoed to the door, taking one step at a time as I approached the door. I've never been so scared in my entire life.

“Open up, my love." I heard in my head, making me release the breath that I never knew I have been holding in for some tim now. I opened the door and saw him leaning against the wall, totally drained. He looked exhausted and I knew without being told that something had gone wrong with our plans. I saw Dr. fred standing behind Dominic and I wondered if he somehow got hurt during the whole process. He pulled me into his arms, taking me into the room with him, pulling me closer as he kissed me so passionately. He left the door open for doctor Fred, then he lifted me into his arms, taking me up the stairs with him.

“Get ready, Fred. I'll be back in a minute” He told the doctor before taking me p the stairs with him. He gently placed me on the bed, sitting next to me as he told me about the two moles that committed suicide when they got caught by him. The pla was working until they got to the cave to move the things out. King Ashford tried to turn off the cameras, and he thought he succeeded in getting into Dominic's Computer. Things had gone south when he tried stealing some files from Dominic. The files had self-destructed and then his tech guys had discovered that their computers were hacked and king Ashford was forced to call off the operation, and he ordered the guys to take their own lives so they don't get caught by Dominic. Before Dominic and his team arrived, the guys were already dead. But when they got to the location of the cave, they saw more thay two footprints, it was four. Two had gone into the cave while two stayed behind my cameras, hiding themselves where the cameras could not see them. Two guys had taken their lives while the other two had fled the scene. The two that got away were male and female, so now we are not just looking for one mole, we are actually looking for two moles, or maybe they ar even more than two, we just can't tell.

We aren't just looking for moles now, we had to rush off to the Alphas lodge and make sure Harriet's father and the other Alphas are not in danger. He knows that there is no way I'm going to pass out on this opportunity to meet my family, that is why he rushed back here with doctor Fred. They want to come u with something that can hide my mating mark. I don't think that is even possible, but with all the things I'm finding out these days, nothing seems to be impossible anymore
