Chapter 41 

On the day Nathan left, it started snowing early in the morning. He went to the airport himself while Annabelle and Lucas went to the airport to send him off. When they saw that there was no one next to Nathan, Annabelle couldn’t explain how she felt. 

She felt that she had implicated Nathan. If it weren’t for her, her parents wouldn’t have treated Nathan like this. 

“Anna, I thought you couldn’t come!” When Nathan saw Annabelle, he was very surprised. He thought he was going to leave alone! 

He did not expect that his parents would be so nonchalant about him going overseas. It was fine if they had forgotten the date of his departure, but when they saw him coming down with his suitcase, they were merely stunned for a moment. “Yes! I’m happy too. Our dear Nathan has grown up!” Annabelle patted Nathan’s head and said softly, “You must take good care of yourself outside. Remember to call me if anything happens. You can call me anytime. Don’t worry!” 

When Nathan heard this, his eyes turned red uncontrollably. He did not dare to speak, for fear that he would choke up. He only nodded vigorously. 

At this moment, Lucas handed him a business card. 

Nathan looked at Lucas, feeling a little confused. 

“This is a friend of mine. He’s a professor at the school you applied for. If there’s anything, contact him. I’ve already spoken to him!” Lucas said calmly. 

“Thank… Thank you, Lucas!” Nathan took the business card and said gratefully. Then, he mustered his courage and said, “You have to take good care of my sister. Annabelle may not be smart but she’s a good person!” 

When Lucas heard this, he wanted to laugh, especially when he saw the angry Annabelle beside him. However, he still gave her some face. After all, the person in front of him who was apparently not smart was his wife. 

Annabelle immediately took action. She twisted Nathan’s ear and turned his face to her. “Who are you calling not smart?” 

“Ahem, ahem, ahem…” Nathan coughed a few times guiltily. Seeing that Anna was still looking fierce, he quickly blinked at her. “I’m just trying to get Lucas to treat you better. You’re smart. We all know that!” 

Annabelle was speechless. 

The couple watched Nathan pass through the security checkpoint until they could no longer see him. Then, they left together. 

However, he met Madeline and Ashley, who were pushing suitcases, in the lobby on the first floor. 

When Annabelle saw them, he subconsciously thought of what Madeline had said to her and Nathan standing alone at the airport. 

She didn’t understand. If… Ashley was also coming to the airport, why couldn’t Madeline, have brought Nathan along? Even if… even if he wasn’t her biological son, did they really not have any feelings for him after raising him for 18 years?

“Let’s go!” Seeing that his daughter, who had always been calm, became dejected when she saw that man. Madeline directly pulled her hand and left, unwilling to say a word to them.

“Let’s go!” Annabelle raised her head and said to Lucas when she saw them walking away. 

Lucas nodded. “Are you going home or…” 

“Let’s go back to the Ross manor! I want to see Noah!” When she was in a bad mood, seeing her idol would improve her mood. After saying that, Annabelle seemed to have thought of something. “Are you busy at the office? You can get the driver to send you to the company before sending me to the Ross manor!” 

Annabelle felt that she was rather accommodating. It didn’t matter if she went to the Ross manor later. 

When Lucas heard this, he sneered and walked away. Of course, he did not forget to hold her arm. 

“Joe, send him to the office first, then send me to the Ross manor! Thank you!” Looking at the driver who opened the door for them, Annabelle said politely.
