Gwendolyn arched a brow. Her tone was playful as she asked, "Can you really assuage my anger?"

Cedrick rubbed her soft cheeks and righteously declared, "I can be quite effective. In fact, I'm probably more effective than most expensive medicine. If you don't believe me, you can check it out yourself." He leaned over and planted a kiss on her red lips.

As they continued to kiss, they made their way up the stairs.

When Zoey came downstairs and accidentally witnessed the romantic scene before her, she quickly turned around and left.

Nope, I didn't see anything at all! I should give them their privacy.

The embarrassing sounds were muffled as the door to the bedroom was shut.

When night fell, Gwendolyn finally received a phone call from Treyton.

Although she answered the call, she refused to speak first.

After a few seconds of heavy silence, Treyton finally said, "Kiddo, I'm sorry. I was wrong."

As Treyton had not had anything to eat for the entire day, his voice sounded somewhat feeble.

Gwendolyn's tone was light as she asked, "Have you thought it through?"

Treyton sounded sincere as he replied, "Yeah. I was too rash. Since the engagement was announced in public, I'm afraid it's a foregone conclusion. Even if we gave away twenty percent of the company's shares, Craig wouldn't relent."

Gwendolyn sighed again. He's got the first part right, but the rest of his thoughts are still too rash.

"Jennifer is now the daughter of the Newton family. Are you planning to elope with her? Craig will definitely send the police after you."

Half an hour later, Treyton arrived and knocked on the door.

Nico and Summer had also arrived. The five of them sat on the couch and began to discuss their plan of action.

Since Craig cares about profits, it will be impossible to expect that he willingly returns it."

Summer stared at Gwendolyn admiringly. "Does that mean you have a plan in mind?"

Gwendolyn smiled slightly. "If we can't tackle the matter from Craig's side, we'll just have to approach Remus and the Abbot family instead." Everyone's eyes brightened.

Unashamedly, Cedrick wrapped his arm around her slender waist and praised her lavishly, "Darling, you're so smart."

Unsurprised by Cedrick's show of affection, the three others did not react to his behavior.

Summer asked, "Since Remus has spent so much money to get himself engaged to Jennifer, surely he won't withdraw that easily, right?"

Gwendolyn's expression turned serious. "The Abbot family's hotel dining business is doing quite well. Perhaps we can use this angle. I recall someone having a lot of shares in various hotel dining businesses." Treyton, who had been silent the entire time, immediately understood what she was getting at.

Gwendolyn was talking about Asher.

Although the latter had resigned from his positions at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and aviation career, he still owned a lot of both domestic and international shares.

Gwendolyn turned to look at Treyton. "Perhaps you can meet with him and request his help."

Nico tugged at Summer to get up. "Cedrick, Gwendolyn, Summer and I will be taking our leave first."

Gwendolyn and Cedrick nodded.

Treyton remained seated and made no move to leave.

"Treyton, it's getting pretty late," Gwendolyn prompted.

Treyton clutched his stomach and inhaled deeply, seemingly in pain as he stared at Cedrick beseechingly. "My dear brother-in-law, I haven't eaten in a day. I'm so hungry that I don't have the strength to move. Could you get me some supper so I can satiate my hunger before I leave?"

Gwendolyn was rendered speechless.

Cedrick tried to hold back a smile. "All right. Since you've thought it through so quickly, I'll make you something good. I'll have a drink and keep you company as you have your supper tonight." Treyton gulped and let out a long sigh. "That's great!"

Nico and Summer, who were almost at the door, perked up when they heard the word "supper."

Shamelessly, the two of them doubled back.

Nico grinned. "Cedrick, I'm feeling quite hungry as well. I'm sure you don't mind cooking a little more, right? I could have some drinks with you guys too!"
