Gwendolyn's eyes were red with surprise as she looked out the door.

Cedrick walked in solemnly. His black coat was covered with snow.

Behind him was Nico, whose expression was equally grave.

Right then, two armed military troops with different uniforms entered the cathedral in an orderly manner and surrounded the place.

The guests were scared out of their wits. In a flash, the scene became chaotic.

Staring at the man standing at the other end of the red carpet, Charles gritted his teeth. "What great timing, Cedrick. Are you here to crash my wedding?" His gaze was filled with hatred.

Curling his lips sarcastically, Cedrick said, "Well, someone doesn't have his heart in the right place. He abducted my fiancée to a foreign country and forced her to marry him, so I have to come and take my woman away."

Charles clenched his fists tightly. The hatred in him intensified.

All the guests in the cathedral were from the royal family invited by Kylie. Although the conversation between Charles and Cedrick was in Chanaean, most of the royals could still understand it.

They went into an uproar as soon as they heard what Cedrick said. Shifting their gazes between the two men, they began to mutter among themselves.

In less than five minutes, all the royals were driven out, including the priest.

Soon, only Cedrick and his men, Charles, Gwendolyn, and Kylie were left in the large cathedral.

The atmosphere was tense.

As soon as he finished speaking, Kylie stood up and clapped her hands.

A group of armed guards dashed out of the door next to the altar. They weren't any less than the people Cedrick had brought with him.

Both sides had their guns raised, and the air was thick with tension.

"Ceddy!" Gwendolyn looked at the armed forces, then at Cedrick worriedly. She wanted to run over to him but was stopped by Charles.

When Cedrick saw Charles holding Gwendolyn's wrist, his gaze was filled with hostility.

Nico, who was at the side, looked at Kylie and said, "Look carefully. The troops we have are not only from Chanaea but also Erihal. Our boss is the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of Chanaea. He should be treated with the utmost respect when he comes to Erihal. If your guards lay a finger on him, I'm afraid the king isn't going to let you go."

Kylie's face fell at once, but she remained resolute. "This is just an act of self-defense. If you dare to hurt Charlie, then don't blame me for being merciless!"

"You don't have a say in Charles' life!" Cedrick snorted. Then, he turned to Gwendolyn, who was on the stage. Stretching out his arms to her, he said dotingly, "Gwenny, come to me."

Gwendolyn forcibly broke free from Charles' grip and ran over in Cedrick's direction while lifting the hem of her gown.

Charles froze, looking at his hand that held Gwendolyn's until a moment ago.

Kylie was livid.

Her dearest son's wedding had been ruined, and on top of that, the bride had run away with another man. It was an extreme humiliation for not only Charles but also her royal family. I can't kill Cedrick, but I can end the life of that unfaithful b*tch!

She immediately instructed the guard closest to her to aim his gun at Gwendolyn and make a shot stealthily.

"Careful!"

Charles noticed that and immediately stood in the targeted direction.

Kylie wanted to ask the guard to stop, but the trigger had already been pulled.

A loud gunshot rang out in the air.

Gwendolyn had reached the middle of the red carpet when she heard the gunshot. She stopped in her tracks and turned around.

Charles was clutching his arm that had been shot. Blood was seeping through the gaps between his fingers.

Kylie immediately rushed forward to check on his wound.

Charles glared at his mother. "Killing her is equivalent to killing me!"

Kylie's heart ached for him. "All right, all right. I won't harm her anymore. My guards will only protect your safety, okay?"

Gwendolyn was still standing in the same spot. She was stunned upon seeing him blocking the shot for her.

Charles noticed her eyes on him. Like Cedrick, Charles stretched out his bloody hand to her with a pleading gaze.

"Gwen, come back, please? I was serious about saving you with my life. Can you choose me for once?"

Gwendolyn hesitated. She didn't move until Cedrick called her from the back.

"Gwenny."

Gwendolyn came to her senses at once. Lowering her eyes, she said softly, "I'm sorry..."

After taking off her veil, removing the crystal crown on her head, and untying her hair, she turned around and ran toward Cedrick. She threw herself into his embrace as if nobody else was around. As Gwendolyn savored the pleasant body smell that she had been longing for, she felt at ease.

"Ceddy, has Kieran cured your eyes?"

Cedrick tightened his grip around her waist and stroked her head with his other hand.

"Yes. Your brothers have taken great care of me. It's just that I miss you a lot."

His voice sounded slightly nasal. The past half month had been torturous to him since he wasn't able to see her.

Gwendolyn leaned her head against his chest and quietly listened to his heartbeat. She held his waist tighter as she immersed herself in his presence.

"I miss you too. I don't want to be separated from you anymore."

While hugging, they expressed their longings for each other without minding the fact that there were still other people around.

Charles stared at them from a distance and found his eyes stinging from watching the scene.

He lowered his head, looking at the crown that was thrown to the ground by Gwendolyn.

The crystals were scattered across the floor and had lost their original brilliance.

He was like the crown. In Cedrick's presence, Gwendolyn would choose to give up on him without hesitation.

No matter how hard he tried, he still couldn't secure a spot in her heart.

All of a sudden, he burst out laughing maniacally and pathetically.

Even when he was almost tortured to death by Cedrick back then, he had never felt so brokenhearted.

"Cedrick, since I can't get her, don't think about being with her either!" Charles said heartlessly.

He dismantled the altar and took out a silver-gray freezer.

Nico was shocked. "Boss, that's the Super Antiviral!"

Charles had brought the antidote to the cathedral and hid it in the holy altar.

Cedrick and Gwendolyn let go of each other and looked at Charles.

Everyone's attention was on Charles, and Charles had been fixing his eyes on Gwendolyn. Nico retreated to the back of the armed military troop and stealthily moved closer to the altar. On the stage, Charles opened the freezer and took out the transparent serum. "Cedrick, I want to see how many days you have left without this antidote. You're going to be the first to die."
