Chapter 15 Mr. Valence did not approve.

Upon hearing this, I realized that besides Bentley, there was another person intently staring at me- Chris. This query exacerbated my response impediments.

want to lie to Bentley, but if I told him the truth, he would definitely not let us divorce.

“I did.” I explained, “But that doesn’t stop us from getting a divorce first. We just need to keep it from Grandpa.”

Recalling the words I overheard outside the door, I had no intention of continuing this marriage with Christopher.

I couldn’t bring myself to entangle with him.

Christopher seemed amused.” You can’t wait, can you? Is that man you like rushing you?”

I looked at him disappointedly. “Christopher, not everyone can be as brazen as you in having an affair within a 

marriage.”

“Am I having an affair?”

“Aren’t you?”

I said slowly, “You claim it’s just to repay a debt. But is that really the case? You left your newlywed wife for Evelyn. You frequently stayed out all night. You broke your promises time and time again for her! You put a hypocritical excuse of repayment on your affair, but you can’t truly cover up the facts!” 

Christopher was taken aback. “You’re so dissatisfied with her? Or are you jealous?”

He was acting irrationally.

I forced myself to calm down, uncapped the pen, and handed it to him. “That doesn’t matter. Christopher, please sign.

Christopher’s face darkened. He picked up the agreement and scrutinized it. “Do you want that house only?”

“Yes.”

Although the house was a gift from him, I had put a lot of effort into its decoration.

Apart from that, I didn’t want anything else.

The house would provide a place for me and the baby to live. Even though I couldn’t earn a lot of money, I could still offer a relatively comfortable life for the baby.

“Mr. Valence said it’s not approved. I’m sorry. I must have been too busy in the past few days and forgot to reply to the email.”

Christopher didn’t approve it?

He should be as eager for me to leave as Evelyn, right?

I had to call Christopher again. “David said you rejected my resignation application; isn’t that true?”

“Since you want to keep our divorce a secret from Grandpa, continuing to work at the Valence Group is essential, or he will become suspicious.”

After dinner, I went downstairs for a walk to aid digestion.

The doctor said the baby was growing well, and moderate exercise was good for both me and the baby.

Baby. Mom was trying very hard to live well. So, it didn’t matter if you didn’t have a father, right?

At night, after taking a shower, I lay in bed, and my phone rang.

It was Ivan.

I answered the phone groggily. “Hello, what’s up?”

“Hope Chris is drunk. He refuses to leave, no matter who asks him. Can you come and help?”

I became a bit more awake. “You know we’re getting a divorce. You should find Evelyn.”

Christopher would definitely listen to Evelyn.
