Warfare of the Brain
Once in a Blue Moon

Hello, bright blue moon.

Long time no see.

You’ve come and gone whenever you please.

You were there for all the times my friends stayed.

For once, I’m more surprised that I’m not betrayed.

You were there for all the times I achieved success.

I know you frown each time you watch me make progress.

You were there for all the times I mustered a laugh,

Yet you steal my happiness when I only have a half.

It seems I’m doomed to spend eternity with you.

A lifetime of nothing, but sadness and gloom.

Why oh why, must you be so cruel?

Is it not enough that I deal with my demons, too?

But I’ve learned something, though:

Each appearance is another sparkly jewel.

Those precious moments are treasure,

Much-too-rare occasions of pleasure.

You have plenty, surrounded by an interstellar

Collection.

In a starry night of sadness like mine,

When you come around shining,

I have a beacon of hope – a special sign.

I know it sounds so depressing,

To rely on crumbs of blessings.

But did you always know, blue moon?

You’ve never been alone.

Because the one who’s truly blue

Has always been me.

Until next time, blue moon.

We’ll meet again among our stars.
