Mother Confessor:

Following the Ober-Commander into the crew cabin. Realizing that I am afraid. Part of me felt much safer encapsulated in the cockpit of my frame, surrounded by the heavy metal plating.

Inside the cockpit of the small Uldivarion ship, three of them occupying the cabin. The Ober-Commander and I are introduced to the others, by their superior, Lieutenant Smerzz. He seemed familiar with the Ober-Commander.

“This is my second, Ohm’erta”, Lieutenant Smerzz continues, gesturing at the female Uldivarion soldier sitting on his left at the helm.

“The other two are, Lances. Ro’gn and Hypp’nn” , he introduces the others.

“And who is this lovely little blue creature”, Lieutenant Smerzz asks, peering at me over his shoulder.

“Private Corlixia, sir”, a weak confidence in my tone.

“Pleasure, miss. Just relax, this will be an easy excursion”, he says with a taught smile,” We will make sure you do not get into to much trouble.” He winks with his large deep black eyes.

That is comforting. I was the odd man out of the company. For them this is all routine. I only have concept through training. Taking the seat next to Lance Hypp’nn. Strapping myself into the large seat designed for the much taller Uldivarions. My feet dangle above the deck. Hypp’nn just smiles, peering down at my small frame next to his.

The Ober-Commander instructs Ohm’merta to give up her place at the helm. I hear her strapping herself into the seat directly behind me. Gripping the shoulder harness tightly in my slender grip. I feel the ship eject into the vacuum. With our expulsion from the massive ship, Lieutenant Smerzz throttles up the engines. Climbing in tone from a steady hum, to a dull roar. Turning my head to watch the two at the helm and peer out the cockpit to what lies ahead.

Light perspiration under my arms, as I listen to the chit chat of the others. My gaze on the soft white of the hull. Today is the day I have been working towards. The first day of my new life. I just hope it is not my last.
