The books I went through plus researching for our ritual assignment took me a week just to get through only half of it. All Emily and I did was class, school work and bed. Same cycle like any other day. Besides the books that were recommended to me, didn’t exactly help my curious thoughts rather it only produced more questions. I hoped to least find one answer but was like a needle in a haystack.

One evening Emily and I gathered our books and headed over to dorm in the evening. Meaning we would be heading to bed soon which I was not ready for. Lately because I have been restless during the night resulting from unanswered questions.

The night was chiller since winter was approaching. We had to wear our coats to help keep the chill out but the cold still bit into my face.

We walked about half way till I pivot and started walking somewhere else completely.

“Asema, where are you going?” Emily voice trailed at me from the distance. I just ignored it and aimlessly walked till I found myself heading towards Madam Mentor office direction.

The night walking by myself was quiet, aside from my shoes clambering against the stones. I stopped and took a breath allowing the coldness to pierce down my throat. It was fresh and kept me awake. The only reason I could think of about going to see Mentor was a book I could not understand. I knew I could have asked Emily but I don’t think she would have the answers.

I shifted the books I was holding, only two and brought the one I was questioning out in front of me.

History that is Beyond Knowledge.

I couldn’t get passed it something about it made me question too many things. I was not sure if even Mentor could answer.

I shook myself and breathed and slowly started forward but only slowly and for some random odd reason I had a strong sense someone or something was watching me. I discreetly looked around while walking forward but I heard no one or saw no one just an alleyway there, with a tree and bush here. All of them were against the evening sky that was a dark scene.

I turned around a corner to entered a building that led to the office but halted before the doors. I looked up at the starry sky there no cloud in sight. The moon only a quarter. It felt as if there was life beyond these stars and rather being watched or looked at. Suddenly a peace and comfort flushed over me.

I took in another breath of the cool air. Then popped the hall door open and stepped into a gas light room the illuminated a medieval castle. I looked up and the stain glass area only shadows that were behind light.

I ascended the stairs and soon found myself welcomed by a circle of windows in the tower. Stars presented in every window only one had a silver moon. I found myself drawn and moving forward to one of the windows and rested my elbows on the cool biting stone, against my skin that reached beneath my clothes of the fabric.

I admired the stars again and took in the sky as well bit of the school. I saw a few lamps flickering with light.

Out of nowhere I may have been going crazy, but I thought sky winked at me. I truly felt as if someone was looking down towards me. Quickly I shook myself of these thoughts and went to the doors and knocked.

Moment later the doors opened. I entered and saw Madam Mentor sitting at her desk looking over something. I walked closer to the coffee table and she looked up and smiled at me but rather a odds smile.

“It is pleasure seeing you dear, but you are aware of the time?” it was stern voice but softness to it.

“Yeah sorry…but I need some information” I was surprised my voice was shaky.

She grinned at my response and started cleaning up something. I caught a glimpse of it and seemed like a starry map, that was moving?

She gestured me to come for a word and to sit down. I obliged. I sat comfortably in the chair and waited on her next statement.

“I assure you have questions?” her face was blank.

I couldn’t read the situation.

“Yes,” I spoke after I realized I had not said anything. She kept waiting. Which gave me an understanding to keep going.

“I am stuck on one book, History that is Beyond Knowledge.”

“Go on” She encouraged.

I gazed at her in the eyes and was caught by them for a second realizing that they almost were glowing like the moon.

I broke the gaze and brought the book out.

She stared at me and smiled, “that is not truly the question is it, there is something that been bugging you and you pushed it down till now.”

I stared at her again and sighed, “I feel, I am connected to these books yet I can’t remember a human family like they never existed.”

Silence between us for a moment.

“What is it about me that may be unique?”

She stared at me for a moment almost wanting to tell me something but couldn’t. A secret that could not be revealed.

“If I told you…you wouldn’t be safe anymore.”

I froze, so there was something. But then I thought to her. I felt I was in more danger than I have ever been.

“Safe? When I was brought here, I was bulldozed by a Warrior of Kadea. Welcomed into a new unknown life. Now I have to deal with a creepy dude is Em’s older brother” I shot at her. Except she only stared at me, but I felt as if she was studying me rather than looking at me.

“Wolf keeps him, away right?” It was cautious question that surprised me.

“Um…yes, he hasn’t bugged me for a while, but that still doesn’t answer my questions” I was demanding now.

She seemed relaxed all sudden. “Answer I give you will only compromise safety for you. Besides your family that you don’t remember may have been a illusion as you say they may not have even been real.”

This time I stayed silent. As in that seemed like the truth.

Madam soften again, “I didn’t mean to hurt you but that is the truth in reality,” her voice soft yet cutting. “Asema some answers you seek are the answers you may not want.”

I raised my eyes to her gaze; the glow was gone and somehow the silver almost looked natural as a motherly figure comforting her child.

“Is there anything else you need?”

I thought about it and my mind went instantly to Wolf and the last statement she made. “Why did you ask if Wolf was with me, is there any specific reason for that?”

That questioned silenced her, but she drew a breath and leaned over the desk towards me, “Wolf is keeping an eye on you encase anything happens…same with Emily” she had lowered her voice as if someone other than me would hear. It was like a secret only between us.

“Why?”

She sighed, “I cannot answer that,” she then leaned back.

Suddenly the words broke out, “he keeps tabs on me doesn’t he for you.”

Again, the statement silenced her.

She bit her lip, “I cannot deny that…or confirm it.”

I smirked, “So you knew him and I been spending time with one another.”

She nodded, “Yes…and had your first kiss” she replied then whispered something under breath which I caught. “And fulfilled a prophecy.” I decided to pretend I didn’t hear that.

“Anything else my dear?” the sweet musical tone came out.

I stared at her and shook my head. I rosed quietly form my chair and waved a good night to her and ascended into the night time that laid upon the school.

Only a few more paces from my dorm I realized I forgot my books, grumbling I told myself I would get it tomorrow. I reached my dorm building but was halted by someone calling me.

“Asema where were you coming from?” familiar voice spoke. I turned to see Wolf walking towards me confused.

“I just came back from Madam Mentor office.”

He was closer now and scrunched his eyebrows in confusion, “why there? Especially at this time?”

I huffed a over exaggerated breath, “because I keep thinking of more questions than I am finding answers.” I slowly sat down on the cool bricks. Wolf crouched down and was at my eye level.

“I believe you need sleep.”

I nodded in agreement.

“Something is on your mind… I can tell” his voice stern.

I huffed a sighed, “Promise you won’t say a thing?”

Wolf gave another confused look then made himself comfortable sitting down beside me. I instantly leaned into his warm as a comfort.

“I promised” he said.

“Apparently you and I fulfilled a prophecy.”

Wolf stared into space but after a minute he answer. “Child of moon and child of night and day” he whispered.

“Yeah” I slowly replied, “What is it?”

He straightened up and then soon rose up, “how about we go into the building first and sit in the lounge,” he gestured towards the building doors.

I nodded in agreement as the cold was really biting my skin.

I tried the doors but it was lock. I turned to Wolf. “Sorry it is locked…”

His lips went into a think line allowing silence to wrap between us.

“Well, we can go to my room…”

I was silent but then I slightly nodded and we walked in sync to his building.

“Prophecy…explain” I urged.

Wolf looked into the distance ahead as if some heavy weight was now on him.

A child from day and night will come together with the child of the moon creating a brighter future” his words were a whisper.

“How do you know it; well how does Madam believe it is us?”

“Because we are the only two species that have a connection and are interaction with another…as you noticed no one really interacts with me…except for the warriors and my grandpapa told me this prophecy” his voice was cold one second later smooth and relaxed.

I wrapped my arms around me fighting away the cold.

“Your grandpapa told you this?” I asked knowing the curious mind.

“Yeah, he heard it from a Mentor in his early days and wondered.”

I hummed in wonder.

We arrived at his room and I welcomed the warmth with instant gratitude. I flung myself onto the couch while Wolf put our jackets away in his closet.

I sat up and watched him with soon electric pull began vibrating between us.

Wolf must have felt it too as he turned and come to sit by me.

Out of the blue I kissed him but drew back slowly. Our faces were inches apart. I could hear our breath in sync. His breath on my face. The pine scent stronger on him. His left hand come up to embrace my face and soon cupped my cheek. I felt him bring me in closer and I him wrapped my arms around his neck. He welcomed it by bowing down and letting me reach further over his shoulders.

His lips met mine again and they soon came in sync his lips soft against mine. I felt in bliss as heat grew between us.

I found he was pushing me back on the couch and soon half hovered over me. Our lips parted, we broke once more gazing at each other, looking into one another eyes as if we could speak through our minds silently, the world around almost didn’t exist, it was just him and I.

His lips met mine again and soon moved in sync like it was meant to be natural.

We were in the land of passion and I did not want to let go. I wasn’t aware of the time till Wolf pulled away from my lips and whispered in my ear.

“Asema we should stop, we never talked about boundaries. Its past midnight.”

I guess he was right, but I didn’t want to stop, but he pulled back and pulled me up into a sitting position. Pointed to the bed.

“I will stay here on the couch.”

But I shook my head, “No, I want you near me” I pulled him with me to the bed, we climbed in and I snuggled into his arms that were wrapped around me. I soon found myself falling asleep with a faint goodnight from Wolf.
