Twisted Ties of Love
Chapter 387

The person who claimed to be a die-hard fan of Casey was starting to feel a quiet shock. She decided to join showbiz after watching Casey's movie, thinking that it would give her a chance to meet him and, maybe even work with him.

But a year had passed, and she was still only able to see his updates through her phone.

As a fan, she had imagined all sorts of scenarios where she would meet her idol, but she never thought she would see him in this context.

If this really was Casey, why would he be here?

The first reason they thought of was Izabella. The previous situation of two men vying for a woman was now a three-man competition.

As a die-hard fan, she felt a deep blow.

Even though she wanted to argue back, she couldn't think of any other reason besides this one.

Izabella looked at Casey. It was the peak of noon, and the sun was at its fiercest. Casey was running towards her at full speed, and Izabella could almost hear his hurried breaths.

He only wore a mask on his face, and his eyes full of worry peeked out. Sweat covered his forehead.

From the moment he entered, his eyes landed straight on Izabella. Seeing her standing there safe and sound, he let out a sigh of relief. Thank God she was okay.

No one knew how scared he was when he received that text from Izabella.

Izabella rarely texted him first, let alone made a distress call like today.

Even though he hadn't known Izabella for long, he knew she was someone who could endure. She would solve problems on her own without bothering others.

But the message she sent today was "I'm having trouble on set, can someone come pick me up?"

"Having trouble" was no longer simply a problem she couldn't solve. The first thing Casey thought of was that she might be in danger.

Casey was driving while making calls. He didn't dare to contact Izabella directly, so he had to get in touch with someone from the crew to ask about the situation.

He arrived in fifteen minutes, a trip that normally took half an hour.

Izabella didn't know why, but seeing Casey come running made her eyes misty.

It was as if all the pressure she had been bearing could now be shared with someone else.

Casey ran straight to Izabella, didn't look at anyone else, and took her somewhat cold hand directly, saying, "I'm here, let's go."

The appearance of Casey broke the existing stalemate. Brett frowned, his face pale. Nathaniel was confused and unhappy. Who was this guy that just showed up and took Izabella's hand?

"Let go of her!" Nathaniel gritted his teeth, but no one paid him any attention. He rushed up to grab Izabella and said, "Izabella, if you dare leave with him, I will,"

He couldn't take Izabella today, but he wouldn't let anyone else take her either.

"That's Casey," Brett said.

Nathaniel froze instantly. He knew Casey's identity as the heir to the Dempsey family.

He had once used the power of the Dempsey family to successfully take over the Windham Group.

Nathaniel had many questions, such as why people suddenly changed, why Brett would leave his ex-wife's tomb to compete for Izabella, why Casey was with Izabella, and why Izabella would willingly leave with Casey.

Of all these questions, the most painful for him was Izabella's willingness to leave with Casey. Nathaniel's eyes were bloodshot as he silently shouted, "Bell, come back.". He didn't even realize his voice carried a hint of grievance.

This was the last time he called her "Bell", but she didn't turn back. He had a hunch, just like Izabella said, the woman who used to be by her side was gone.

She would not be coming back.

In the year she left, Nathaniel thought he had grown accustomed to her absence, but he found that he simply couldn't.

Who didn't want a good life? Bell was too good to him, so good that he forgot that human emotions were diverse, with joy and disappointment. Emotions didn't just disappear all of a sudden; he was just now realizing it.

He wanted to win Izabella back.

Bitterness filled Brett's face, and his body swayed slightly. He said self-mockingly, "No one can beat Casey." Including himself.

"I don't believe it; she's mine. She's just having a split personality; as long as she's alive, the disease can be cured."

Even now, Nathaniel still thought Izabella was just suffering from a split personality.

This just proved that Nathaniel's love for her was not deep enough. If he truly loved Bell, he should have realized from the very beginning that this was Izabella, not Bell.

The person he yearned for in his heart was gone.

Casey led Izabella all the way. At first, it was okay, but later she felt more and more uncomfortable, with many eyes watching them.

Izabella tried to struggle but couldn't get free. Casey's grip on her hand tightened.

"Casey, what's wrong?"

Casey's body stiffened, and he stopped walking. He seemed to be enduring something, then he softly said, "Let's go back."

"Can you let go of me then?"

Casey didn't answer.

Fine, if he won't let go, then he won't let go. Holding hands wouldn't do anything.

But this was the first time she saw Casey like this. He seemed to be scared of something.

"I haven't changed my clothes yet." Izabella reminded him in a small voice. She suddenly realized she was still in her costume, which would attract a lot of attention if she went out like this. "Where's the dressing room?"

Izabella pointed in a direction and said, "Go back first; it's over there."

They held hands the entire time, not letting go until they reached the door of the changing room.

Izabella gave her hand a little shake. "I've got to change now; can you let go?"

It was only then that Casey turned his head. He looked at Izabella with a furrowed brow. "Bella, can I hug you?"

This was the first time Izabella felt slightly unfamiliar with Casey's embrace, but it was not off-putting. It was warm and comforting.

With his broad shoulders and slender waist, she could lean into his chest with just a slight dip of her head, hear his strong heartbeat, and smell the faint scent of mint on him.

Casey held Izabella tight, his fist clenched. He was always extra cautious around those he liked, afraid that if he held her too loosely, she'd slip away, or if he held her too tightly, he'd hurt her. It was like he was afraid of dropping a precious gem or of melting a sweet candy in his mouth.
